I've seen some of the episodes and of course I have an opinion. The father is an overbearing pain in the you-know-what. Also, anyone else think their house could use a good cleaning?

Other than that, I like the show. They seem to have some pretty good kids.

I watch. I also don't like that the Mom works 2 jobs and the Dad doesn't do any.

The house needs Clean Sweep.

I like them as a family though. :)

I watch it with DD6. It helps to show her everyone is different and do the same things just like we do. I missed it this week though.

Yeah, the dad says he makes 80% of the income between working/owning the little people access kit company and renting out the farm. He also told Amy to quit one of the jobs. He seems to have money to remodel the the kitchen, remodel the bathroom, and pay for these trips and things like the hotair balloon. I don't think the family is as bad off as Amy thinks it is at times.

(Clearly I watched a bit too much of the marathon yesterday to know all that! :) )

I really like the show and the family. Dad does seem like PITA sometimes, but he really cares and loves his family- you can tell that.

And yeah- the house is a mess. BUT- I'd hate to see what my house would look like if I had 4 kids and 2 jobs. Heck- it isn't spotless now and I have 0 kids and 0 jobs! :lmao:

Yes...I enjoy this show. I like the family. The Mom and Dad are so different. He is a dreamer, she is the sensible one. Their farm is magnificent. I find it hard to believe he makes a lot of money off his little people kit. I would think he would have better luck marketing it to little people verses marketing it to hotels. But it's a great show!

Well, that's interesting. I missed the marathon yesterday. :teeth:

I really like the show - I was surprised to know that both of the Rolof's parents are normal sized! I think the show is educational.

As for the dad - Matt - I guess he is a dreamer. That's hpw they got the gorgoeus farm and al of those great "playgrounds" for the kids. I have more of an "Amy" personality myself.

Well, that means you have more of a life then I do! :teeth:

In my defence I had a sick son, and didn't get much of a chance to get out of the house. I do question how he gets the money. But I could see the kits being expensive, and if you get one for every hotel in a chain you might be able to sell quite a few? I also wonder how much renting the farm, the peaches, and the pumpkins all bring in.

The father always wants everything done his way when he can't really do it by himself. If I had people helping me to the extent that he does, I surely wouldn't complain about it that much (the episode where his dad was parking cars for a corporate party comes to mind).

As for the house, I am not a neat freak by any means, but there is no way that I would show my kids sleeping in beds with no sheets on them on national television. I just constantly look at the floors in their house and think "Could someone push a vacuum across that floor, please?" I know it's judgemental, but I can't help it. When I see them walking bare foot on that floor, it grosses me out.

Pretty much exactly my thoughts from the few episodes I've watched but replace the 0 kids with 2 kids and a dog and a cat! :rotfl2:

We watch and like the show. I agree the house could use a good cleaning, but so could mine. The no sheet thing bothers me but I have a no sheet pet peeve. In our house, there is always a sheet. The ONLY gripe I have and I think someone should tell the family......they often let the kids ride in the front seat WITHOUT a seatbelt! Put the seatbelt on foks, come on, it's the law (and much safer).

I did notice the mom putting her seat belt under her arm in one of the episodes yesterday and I thought it was odd that there wasn't a safer way to get the seatbelt to fit her properly.

In their Christmas episode they went to an adjacent farm to buy their tree and drove their ATV on the highway. I live in a rural area as well and that is one of my biggest pet peeves. However, in my area, it's uaually teens/pre-teens riding their ATVs on the highway - not families. :)

I've recently gotten hooked on this show.

I did a search on Matt and according to his website, http://www.mattroloff.com/, Matt: "designs complex computer systems" and "has written an inspirational book about his life entitled Against Tall Odds: Being A David In A Goliath World."

According to the TLC website, http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/lpbw/bios/matt.html, Matt "was a huge success in the computer industry, selling systems software to Fortune 500 companies. In 1999, Matt wrote and published Against Tall Odds, which chronicles his business and professional success in the face of enormous medical and social adversity. With the money rolling in, Matt created his dream home, a 34-acre farm outside Portland, Oregon, called Roloff Farms." It also says that, "two years ago, Matt gave up his software career and decided to establish his own business, Direct Access Solutions."

I am so glad that Zach finally got his driving permit!

I wonder how much Matt got when he played the Ewok in Return of the Jedi???

I have been watching, and I like the show. I have learned a lot about little people and how they live/get along in the world. I just wish Matt would spend a little more time w/ Jeremy. He's trying so hard to help Zach get ready for life as a little person that it looks like to me Jeremy gets the short end of the stick attention-wise sometimes. Also, I wish they'd show a little more about the other 2 kids.

I wonder how much they are getting paid for doing the show??

Also, I agree about the other kids. There was a little bit about the girl having her photo taken for the newspaper but I haven't seen anything at all about the youngest boy. (And wow, doesn't he look just like the Dad?)

I have really gotten into watching this show. My DH has been watching it with me too. I think I have seen every episode. I think it is great that this family has put themselves out there.

I have not noticed about the seat belts - but that would alarm me!

When they went to the farm to get the Christmas tree - they went to the farm next door, it was not on a highway, but a rural road. I must have missed them going on the highway! But I am often multi-tasking when I watch tv so it doesn't suprise me...

Their house is soooo messy! They should give the kids some chores in the house too! The dad doesn't bother me - he seems to have a lot going on. I felt bad for Zach to take three tries! Amy kind of reminds me of my first boyfriends mom - with the worrying! LOL!

I know the dad would be tough to live with in some ways. Especially if you are a practical type of person. But he's one of the most ambitious men i've seen. He had the software company, he wrote a book, he built all that crazy stuff on the farm, he had the farm generating money. The outside of the property looks beautiful.
It bothers me that I see his wife and especially the kids talking terribly to him. It's really none of their business if mom works two jobs. There have been alot of things they've said that I just think are out of line for kids who have a dad who does so much for them.
I've been broke. I react like his wife. I often work two jobs even though dh is making a good living. I worry about the future even though things are going well.

I never really noticed the messy house. I guess I'm too busy watching the people. I haven't seen every episode either, so I missed the one where there were no sheets on the bed. All of their kids are old enough to make their own beds, so it may be that Amy told them to make it or don't, but it's your bed and you have to sleep in it. I am a sloppy housekeeper. What I mean is, my house is not dirty...I dust and vaccum and so forth, but there is always clutter in my house. It definitely looks lived in. And I imagine if it was on tv people would probably judge me as a poor housekeeper as well. When is this show on? I just seem to catch it sometimes and haven't kept track of when it comes on regularly.
