Anyone else think Disney is getting Greedy?

Just curious but why wouldn't free dining work for your family? Don't like free food?

Well for one it's not really "free". You will pay RACK RATE at the hotel. Personally I like getting the annual pass, the discounted resort and the Tables In Wonderland 20 percent discount which includes Table Service food and drink. It's a much better deal. There is no such thing as "free dining" at Disney.

Well there is such a thing as free dining if you are planning on staying at a particular resort during a certain time (regardless of a discount being offered) and free dining happens to be available. :thumbsup2

Sure I'll pay rack rate. But it ends up being significantly cheaper than going without the free dining promotion, especially if you have a large family going (then the savings really add up).

* Why would crab legs be seasonal? You're in the seafood state of Florida, lol. It's yet another way of taking a premiere food off the buffet and put more money in Disney's pockets, lol. They took the Prime Rib off of BOMA a while back and yet the price keeps going up. Back in 2006 BOMA used to cost $25.99 plus tax now it's between $38 and $42 withOUT the primerib. I stayed at the Wynn Resort, Las Vegas which is truly a 5 star hotel. Their buffet was $36.99 and it was gourmet, which included sushi, crab legs and primerib.

Aren't the crab legs from Alaska? And they have seasons.

And I'm sorry but when I hear people talk about what they paid 10 years ago for something I stop reading. Except in this case...

...Wynn has more competition in Vegas than Disney does in Orlando ;)

Aren't you only allowed 4 people to a room?

What exactly do you mean that they have seasons? Now Disney does have seasons where they will charge you "more" during various times of the year, but this shouldn't have an affect about what food items that are on the buffet.

I don't know of any restaurant that takes an expensive food off the buffet and still charges the same amount. For $40 plus per person plus tax there really isn't that much on that buffet that is worth it except of course the crab legs.

King crab is seasonal (fall). It's not year round and certainly isn't FL!

And you do know one restaurant that takes off a food item and charges the same - Cape whatever it's called! :)

Besides in vegas it's all about the tables and machines.... Food and alcohol are loss leaders in Las Vegas in a lot of cases. If they draw you to their resort for 5 days and liquor you up they can easily make it back on all the gambling.

This garbage about crab legs being seasonal is just silly. Walk over to Fulton's at DD and ask them if they ever remove crab legs from their menu. Actually, let me save you some time, the answer is no.

Then people can go there to eat their crab! Or do people just like to complain?

I don't care. I'm just stating that if Cape May takes down crab legs with a stated reason of "seasonality," I'm calling B.S. on that.

So they take off a premiere food item in the fall? WOW! I guess, that's an excuse to put more money in their pockets. Unreal. Yes, Virginia, Disney is Greedy. Sheesh.

Thanks Joe.

Went to Cape May once because they had the crab legs. There was one patron or shall I say (*& and his wife that had 5 let me repeat 5 pails of CRAB LEGS on his TABLE! He was disgusting! Then before he finished eating them he got up and got more. It became so bad that I complained about it. I have never in my life seen anything like it! Total disregard for manners and was a total P*G!

Uh, maybe you just stumbled on why they aren't there anymore.

Yea disgusting. Unfortunately, there are always going to be people like that no matter what the situation is. And they will ruin it for everyone else.
