Anyone else thing Cinderellabration was BORING??

Mary Jo and Joanna, I haven't seen "Cinderellabration", so I'm not commenting on the show or its performance, but on the thread in general. Mary Jo, I'll bet your daughter is wonderful in it, and I hope that when I'm at the MK in June that I'll get a chance to see her perform in it. :yay: I'm sure you are very proud when you watch her in it. :cloud9:

I don't doubt that reading these kinds of negative comments tears your heart out. I'm sorry that has to happen. :sad1: The thing is that lots of people come to this forum seeking advice about what to do on their precious vacations at WDW. They want to hear what people like and dislike, and they want honest opinions. They have no intent to offend anyone (at least I don't think so). There seem to be a number of people here who have the opinion, "The performers have done a great job in the show, but they should rewrite it, since it doesn't have much of a story line." There are others who love it. Readers visit this thread and decide from the varying comments whether they think they would like the show or would rather spend their time some other way. That's just the way it goes with this kind of thing.

Performing artists who have reached a certain level have to endure critiques of their work and the works which they perform. My read of these comments is one of almost everybody liking the performances of the actors. That's something of which to be proud. As for the people who don't like the show itself, they're entitled to their opinions, and some folks on here will want to read those honest opinions. Don't let it get you down!! :thumbsup2

Tim, who finds it hard to believe that something titled "Cinderellabration" princess: could be bad, but those of you who have seen it know better than him.

OK, here I go.

The show was boring. My opinion. I was.

I am a Princess freak and I could hardly even watch it. The only reason I stopped was that my friend wanted to watch it.

My nitpicking was that the dancing gals desperatly needed ruffled petticoats over their hoops to keep their hoop wires from showing. I perform in elaborate, historical outfits with steel boned corsets half the year and these costume things glare at me. Also the fact that Princesss aren't crowned. Queens are. Will spare you the whole historical geek thing. But if Cinderella wasn't a Princess before, what was she when she was part of the Princess pantheon before the show come into being? A poser?

Also the lady playing Cindy when I watched it was not the best. The gal I saw a few days previous was much better. This one was sooooo slow in her delivery we were joking that Cindy was on qualudes.

Now all this being said, these are observations from an adult who is in the entertainment business and thus more picky than others. I would tell parents with little girls that their kids would enjoy it and the show is short so its not going to eat too much of your life.

I know the actors work hard. But there are times you just can't polish a turnip and make a diamond. The script was horrible and that is the writers fault, not the actors.

The old show was better, but I still liked it. I think I enjoyed the intricate costumes the most. :)

...cut.... If you don't like the show, either don't watch it or just keep it to yourself.

I am not trying to be rude, but that was uncalled for...and just kind of weird. Every person that comes here has the right to say what they think. Many come here seeking opinons and to share the experiences they had at WDW.

Would it be right for somebody to tell you "Joanna, if you don't like what you read here, don't come to the Disboards anymore?" :confused3

I LOVE Cinderellabration!!!!! Of course, I AM biased because my DD is in the show. Believe me, it is REALLY painful to read these constant criticisms!! DD and ALL the Cinderellabration CMs work soooooooo hard to present entertainment that the guests will enjoy. You have absolutely NO IDEA how many hours these kids work to try and bring a smile to your face!! ...........cut.....I have restrained myself from posting about this for a long time--but I've finally had it!! Go ahead and flame me--I don't care!! But I do care about the way these negative comments hurt my DD and all of the Cinderellabration CMs!

I will repeat myself, many that come here, come to share their opinons and experiences from WDW with people they have something in common with.

Nobody is insulting your daughter or anybody else. You are taking this way too personal. No doubt the "characters" work hard, but the show is still not that great. The costumes are wonderful, they are prince and princesses and I am sure children think none the different of cast, but the show is not great. How is that insulting your daughter? If she wrote it, then she needs to start over, but I don't think one person on here is picking on your daughter or anybody else. Geesh!

My DD and I were rained out every time we tried to see it on our last summer trip. I actually keep meaning to start a thread here asking if anyone had videotaped it and would consider making a copy of it for me because I doubt we will make it back to WDW before it is gone. (But I've been offline for several months and wasn't sure whether or not that was still allowed.) The first three minutes we saw before they cancelled one of the performances we tried to see were enough to make us sorry we never did see the rest. I'm sure we would have loved it.

Disney could and should do better.

This was one of the imports for the 50th that they should have
left in Tokyo.

I was a bit disappointed too. I also liked the previous show better.

No where did I say that anyone was insulting or 'picking on my daughter'. If you'll re-read my post, you'll see that I said many of the Cinderellabration CMs read these Boards and that seeing the constant 'put downs' in the threads bashing Cinderellabration "makes them feel terrible!" I also said that Cinderellabration will not be everyone's 'cup of tea'....but that it would be nice to have some 'postive, uplifting posts'. I stand by those comments! To those who understood and who posted things that they found positive about the show, Thank you!

My daughter did NOT write the show so obviously she does NOT need to start over--I think that comment was unnecessary!

DD loved it enough that we saw it twice in one day. She was entranced. It was a prince & princess spectacular and that was the highpoint of her day besides CRT.

Everyone, I am sorry for the way that I came across. I did not mean for it to sound that way. I just am very protective of that show because I am friends with a lot of the cast members. So please accept my appolgy and I will never do it again.

We loved Cinderella's Surprise Celebration but we really enjoy Cinderellabration as well! I feel like they are 2 completely different shows that are both entertaining and we appreciate each for their own uniqueness! :thumbsup2 Although after DH's comment that "Jasmine is hot", we may have to steer clear of there! ;)

On a postive note, I will have to second that Jasmine is hot. In fact of all the Jasmine's in the park, I didn't see one "non-hot" one. And while I am an Aurora blue dress purist, I could deal with the purple dress just fine. Kind of a blending between the blue and pink. Oh, and I LOVED Belles gold, sparkly dress. I thought it was the best one, better even than Cindy's.

Yeah, even my ds was referring to her as "Naked Jasmine," ;)

I watched it for the first time last week. It sounded good, and I wanted to see it for a long time. So I was all excited to finally watch it. After Cindy and Prince Charming kissed and everyone started waving 'bye, and shouted "That's it?"

I was expecting atleast an evil villian to interupt the ceremonies. I was a little disappointed, but the show was cute. I'm glad I saw it, but I probably won't watch it again. Atleast it'll still make ride lines smaller during the show times. ;)

DD and ALL the Cinderellabration CMs work soooooooo hard to present entertainment that the guests will enjoy. You have absolutely NO IDEA how many hours these kids work to try and bring a smile to your face!! Many of these CMs read the DIS and other Disney Boards and it makes them feel terrible to see these ''put downs." Of course, Cinderellabration will not be everyone's 'cup of tea'--not everyone liked CSC or KoK either. As we all know, it is impossible to please everyone--but couldn't we have some postive, uplifting posts for a change? I'm sure the CMs would appreciate it!!

The Princesses definitely are NOT stuck up!! It would be impossible for them to come out for a Meet and Greet after the show--there is only one hour between the performances. During that hour, the cast has things which they are required to do to prepare for the next presentation. After the 11:40am show, they have lunch and then they prepare and perform in the afternoon parade!! In many instances this requires complete costume, make-up and wig changes! After the parade, it's back to the show! Besides the time problem, there is also the issue of creating 'magic'--in other words scheduling--where characters will be and when they will be there. After all, there is only ONE Mickey, and only ONE Cinderella--right??!!

I have restrained myself from posting about this for a long time--but I've finally had it!! Go ahead and flame me--I don't care!! But I do care about the way these negative comments hurt my DD and all of the Cinderellabration CMs!

I am certainly not saying anything bad about the CMs performing in the show. If anything, I guess it is a critique of park management. All I'm saying is that this is a show my family can skip. IMO the MK execs replaced something that was really fun with something that is... not. However, I am fully aware that others may perceive the show differently. Also, never really thought about it, but as someone else posted, it really is a shame that characters can't do the meet and greets after the show anymore.

ETA: Mary Jo, I am sure it's frustrating for your DD to be caught in something that is less than Disney's best (and I don't think I'm alone in this opinion). I am sure she does a fantastic job with the material she has been given. Producers and writers may want to take threads like these to heart. Performers have nothing to hang their head about IMO

The only reason why the characters can't do meets is because the costumes are REALLY expensive. I wish they did daily meets too. I LOVE meeting the princes.

its funny because many of the CM's who perform Cinderellabration hate it. it's just poor writing and it's a very short cliffnotes version ofthe one from Tokyo.

another good example is over at playhouse and it hasnt' been the same since they changed it from just a bear and the big blue house theme. now the show has not story or theme. it's just a walking comercial. however the puppets there are some of themost advanced and difficult in the whole wdw. seconded only by sprig and Mother willow from pocohantas.

but not something I feel inclined to repeat. You're right - there is really nothing to it. No plot. The music and dancing are just okay. I'm glad we saw it but I'm not impressed. I would rather it go away and clear the area in front of the castle.

The costumes are beautiful, so striking. No matter how many times I pass by the show I stop for a moment to look at the costuming. It really is amazing.

The performers are awesome. The dancing is great. Everyone does a good job and looks beautiful (or handsome ;) ). I even enjoy the music, and find myself moving to it.

The story and plot...ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz

Those are just the facts. Nothing agains the CMs who perform in Cinderellabration. Like I said, they do a great job with what they have to work with. It would be SO MUCH better if there was a little more story thrown in, that's all.

And yes, Jasmine is hot. :smokin:
