Anyone else out of snow days?

we are neg 2 now and counting. Have to make them up at the end of school year....

We are in NJ too and I can see spring break evaporating before my eyes... The bigger problem is that my son is taking health during the 4th marking period and there is a rule that you cannot miss more than 5 days of health. He's already missing two for the marching band's trip to DW and we were planning on staying (and enjoying DW) as a family for 4 more days of spring break.

I can't have him fail health because we have a vacation scheduled, but I've already paid for everything...:headache:

I'm just north of Dallas and tomorrow will be the 3rd snow day this week. The roads have 2" of ice still on them and it's going to be below freezing until Saturday.

I live in eastern CT along the shoreline and we are into 6 snow days. We never have more than 2 or 3. We did have 4 flood days last year. (100 year storm) They expect a few added to the end of the school year, but never this many. Today they sent out a survey to all us staff and asked whether we would like the days taken from February break, April break or all tacked to the end of the year. At this point we would get out on June 22nd. Last year we got out on the 26th. It was so hot and humid. No AC and it was a full day.

In our town and I think in CT you cannot go past June 30th. Hopefully we will not get to that point.

We are in Illinois and our kids and DHs school district are up to I think 8 or 9 snow days, counting tomorrow. Dhs school district allows 5 snow days, after that they dont have to make up anymore. Where our kids go to school, the opted out of this option last time, so they will be making up all of the days. They should be about late mid May now.

Usually our school system builds 2 days into the calendar for snow days. Tomorrow will be the second day off this week but my third day off work because they cancelled all afterschool activities on Tuesday including CLC where I work. Really I would much rather make it up in June than be out in the sub zero weather. Besides I am exhausted from shoveling today.

I'm in CT too, central CT, and yes, that is the law here. In my town, we're out of snow days-we have another one today because we had a building collapse, causing traffic problems. I think they are clearing the schools' roofs too.

They are talking about taking from the April vacation, at this point. I'm glad I planned our trip for Feb break, but I feel for anyone who planned April trips.

This winter is wild. And there are buildings falling all over the place :scared1:

We're in KS and we have 6 built in and that is exactly how many we have used. I dont know what happens for sure if we have any more. I do know that some other districts just add a few minutes to each day instead of adding more days at the end of the year. We get out May 25 I think.

We're over by 3 and they say we have to make them up, but I'm not sending my kids to school at the end of the year to sit and watch movies-no way.

That is what we had to do when I was a kid or we went on Saturday to make it up. I remember all we did was sit and watch cartoons. :sad2:

We're outside of Seattle. Had the big storm the week of Thanksgiving, then another in early Dec., plus the kids had another day off from a wind storm that knocked power out to most of our town. We have had a few delayed starts too. They have already made up one day, lost the end of the semester break/records day. Are making up another on the Friday before Memorial Day and the rest were tacked on at the end of the year. As of now they are getting out of school on Monday, June 20th. Not even sure I'm going to send them if it does end up being the last day. Kind of silly to send them on Monday only, so they can sit around and do what?

If we have any more days off they are being tacked on at the end of the year. The Seniors will have to make the days up on a few Saturdays, they have done this before, so they can graduate on time. We are also in the same boat as a few others. DD has a big Softball tournament in Idaho the weekend of June24-26, and we are driving. If they have to tack on more days, she will probably miss them. We are leaving on the 23rd, so she isn't sitting in a car for 8 hours and then has to go play/catch immediately.

We have been out 2 days this week and one a couple of weeks ago. The day a couple of weeks ago will get made up on Preseidents day, and then these two will get made up at the end of the year. We have a two hour delay right now and I am hoping it stays that way and we don't close.

I know it sounds horrible, but I don't want her home another day. I am exhausted keeping her busy stuck inside. It is not like summer when we have things going on every day and can get out. I guess I am not winning mother of year with these thoughts.

We are new to this school district, but i have heard that they built in 5 days. Today we are using day #5. I have no idea if they will take away days off, or tack them onto the end. I hope the put them on the end. Our last day is a Monday! May 23! Id be fine with them going a few more days at the end!

We were out of snow days before this ever started! I know they have to go Pres day and good Friday, but not sure when they will make up the rest of the days.

Back in the olden days, we never had to make-up snow days. In 1977 we missed the whole month of January and never had to make it up!

My mom is a teacher in CT and in her school system they already took away spring break. Now they are talking about Saturdays or extra long days.

What is really bad is that when they make up days they do parties or rewards or something else anyway and then the last two days are final exams and they only go half days. But you can't miss a final so you have to be there.

I am a teacher in a suburb of Indianapolis and we are on day three of our "ice" days with two being covered. We teachers were originally to come back on the Tuesday after Memorial Day for a records day. Now we will most likely be giving finals on that day and coming in for records on Wednesday. My school is hard-core about giving finals on any other time but what is scheduled as not to overwhelm the testers.

Of course I have already scheduled my Disney trip to start on that Tuesday and had planned on taking a personal day for the originally scheduled records day...

More bad weather is on the horizon for next week...

Our school district lists the last day of school. Then it lists the last day of school if all snow days are used. I never schedule a vacation before that date! That way I know we won't get messed up by snow days. I think all districts should list the last possible day for attendance so people can plan!

I'm really surprised that spring break is getting taken away for some of you! We had to make up several days one year due to a teacher strike. They took away "lesser" holidays like Casimir Pulaski day, president's day and I think MLK jr day.

Today will be snow day #9 (since January 1!!) for my ds.

As of today the kids have on Thursday of their April vacation week (and Friday, which is Good Friday). But it already looks like at least one day next week will be a snow day. So that will eliminate April vacation all together.

We've already added 5 days to the end of the school year, so current last day is June 21st. I have NO doubt that will be extended.

One district in our area has already cancelled February vacation. I'm wondering if ours will follow suit.

I've been trying to balance using all of my personal vacation time with not spending too much on our backup 'snow day' sitter...and also ds's tolerance for that (he does good there for one day, day 2 he starts to get super bored). Ugh!
