Anyone else new to iPod/iPhone?

This one is easy. Click and Hold any app with your finger till it begins shaking, then once they start shaking: drag any app and drop it on another app into which you want to create the folder.

Example: I have Pandora and iTunes. I hold my finger on the Pandora app until it starts shaking. Once you see it shaking, drag and drop it on top of iTunes. It will create a folder. It will name the folder for you if you like, or you can rename it. The just press the home key and you're done.
These are exactly the types of things I wanted to learn about here. Thanks for sharing. :thumbsup2

Thanks to everyone who's posted. Let's keep it going!

I'm still sort of fascinated with the music. :goodvibes

I got a cool App the other day - it plays the Top 100 songs of every year from 1947-2010.

I also wanted to share the new toys I got from Brookstone that play music from the iPod.

The first one's a very simple Tower which plays music and charges the phone. It's awesome! And half the price of a Bose, yet sounds just as nice (I think!).

There's also an outdoor system that you can run wirelessly with the tower or alone with your iPod via a port (sold separately). It's water resistant and can either be plugged in or run on batteries.

We are ROCKIN around here! (And very timely since my stereo CD player recently broke!)

Name???

I don't have anything too fun, despite having the iPhone for a year. Sad. I tried CardStar, where you can input your loyalty cards, but they don't scan at the store very well. Some games are fun. I like bejeweled, sudoku, solitaire. For smaller kids, I love Sneezies.

I've been an iphone user for awhile now. Here's a quick tip for those discount emails you get. If you're anything like me you forget to print them out and lose out on the deal. If you open up the email for the clerk they can scan the bar on your phone or get the numbers from the coupon and manually put them in. I'm finding more and more stores are doing this.

Use maps as a yellow pages-you never have to dial 611/411 again. Best part is there's no charge. Just type in the name and zip/city of the place you're looking for and when it comes up on the map touch the name where the little arrow is, this will take you to the screen with the number and address. You can just touch the number and dial from there. You can also add it to your contacts if you'll need it later. Also any address you have in your contacts will automatically be mapped once you touch it. I have all of DD's friends, Dr.'s Offices etc. all set up so all I have to do it touch it and we're ready to go.

I have ABCs Lite that allows me to make groups for my contacts. You set it up and then you can do it from your regular contact button.

I also have Sync in a Blink which will sync my contacts right to my Gmail or Visa Versa no matter where I'm at.

Bump is pretty cool to share pics/contacts with DH and DD. I'm looking for something better though as it's buggy.

Fandango is nice.

Smugwallet-like that I can just download albums to my phone from my Smugmug however you can't zoom in on them. I'm too lazy to be adding pics to my phone all the time so it works. (I have thousands, there's no way I can sync to my pic folder, lol)

LoseIt-Lost 43lbs so far, wouldn't be without it.

This is great. I discovered I can do it on the Notebook, too. If I jot a person's name, # and even address down, but don't want to put it in my phone contact list, I put it in my notebook and I can touch the # and it will dial it, and touching the address takes me to a map and even a picture of the house I'm looking for. I used it the other night and it was cool.

Good to know. Thanks for posting.

I forgot to mention: DH and I have Star Trek Phaser Apps (free) that we tease the kids with. :lmao:

Folders? On your iPod Touch? how the heck do you do that? I have pages and pages of games that I keep on for my kids and would love to put them in a folder.

Thank you so much-I can't believe I didn't know about this!

I recently changed the font in the Notes app. The standard font was too difficult to read. The process is odd and somewhat involved. Google 'ipod notes change font' for instructions. I just wanted to let everyone know that it could be done.

Unfortunately there isn't a simple way to do this. The passcode lock is designed to prevent anyone from using you iPod should it ever be stolen. It don't allow you to lock out apps.

There is only way I know to do this, but it can get annoying after a while. The same way you set up your accounts is how you control it.

On your iTouch, you do the following:
Go to SETTINGS.
then MAIL, CONTACTS, CALENDARS

Once you're in MCC, you will need to click on each individual account. In each account, you will need to turn the account off and possibly delete the password. First thing you can try to do is to simply turn the account off. If this works, then great. :thumbsup2 This is the fast and easy way.

Sometimes simply turning off the account won't work though. If your kids really wanted to see your e-mails, all they would need to do is simply go into settings and turn the account back on. Don't put it past kids to know how to do this already or figure it out. If they figure it out, then you will need to also delete the password. They would need to know the password to turn the account back on. To do this, do as I mentioned above but also delete the password. To delete the password, click on the PASSWORD tab and just hit the backspace key until the password is deleted. Once you delete the password, click on DONE. Depending on your account settings, it will warn you that the server is not responding. Click OK. After you press OK, click on DONE again, It will ask you if you want to SAVE or EDIT the changes. SAVE the changes. At this point, your accounts should be disabled. If you click on the mail app, you should see the WELCOME TO MAIL screen to set up new accounts. If you get this, you did it right.

Now the annoying part to this is, you would need to do this each and every time. Once you are ready to check your e-mails, you would need to go back in, enter the password for each account and turn each account back on. Just follow the same steps to turn them back on. Only takes a minute or 2 once you get the hang of it. Just a pain to remember when you just want to go in and check your e-mails right away. :headache:

Hope this helps.
thanks for your detailed info... guess the ipod touch is not meant to be shared ...... too bad for the kids ...

Was your itouch eligible for 4.0 OS upgrade? If not then you can't do it.

i will have to check...i am such a noooooooob....since you ask the question .. is there a reason why it would not be eligible... ??

I don't think the first generation or two (same as the iphone) can take the upgrade. Meaning they just don't have the power. Is yours newer? The 4.0 came out in June so if you haven't updated your software since then that'll be what you need to do.

Yeah - plug it into your computer; iTunes will open. If you have a 3G or 4G iTouch, it should automatically download the upgrade.

So, question for all you intelligent people:

If I want to load CDs or movies (that I have, not purchased from iTunes), how do I do that? Can I load right from my D drive or whatever? Or do I need to upload to my computer first, then download to my iTouch?

Steps, please?

"Rip" the CD into iTunes, then sync your iTouch with iTunes. That's it!

When your an 'expert' ;), you can make playlists from all of your CDs.

Another newbie question... how/where do you get TV shows to download onto a Touch?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Once you open up iTunes, in the left hand column you will see iTunes Store. If you haven't set up an account yet, you will need to do so. Once you're in the store, there are tabs that are up at the top of the page. Music, movies, TV shows, etc. You can click on TV Shows and you will see all the latest available TV Shows to purchase.

You can also do a search for a specific TV Show if you like.

These are the only TV Shows I've seen. Hopefully someone else has some clues on where to get free ones.
