Anyone else keeping THE secret? Updated list p. 4

I love this thread. Hopefully it will help me keep my mouth shut! :) Our dates are 8/19-8/24/11

:welcome: to all who have joined in. Let's try to video our reveals and then post them here if possible. :goodvibes

Did you put it on YouTube? It sounds so familiar to one that I saw. Great job at keeping the secret, and I keep telling myself that it will bo so worth it!

I did not put it online, no. I have a thing about my kids that way. But yeah, it was really hard to hold myself together. I love making my kids so excited and happy. It was crazy because it was so relaxing, which is the opposite of what I imagined. :)

OMG DH almost blew the surprise last night! We had mentioned our plans to some good friends who have a son the same age as DD, and he has never been to DL, so we asked if they wanted to join us. So what does DH say last night, in front of DD? "Hey, did you talk to Jamie about Disneyland yet?" I promptly said, "Yeah, they are thinking about surprising DS, so she wanted to talk to me about where we have stayed." He knew immediately that he had slipped. Luckily DD said, "Ryan hasn't been to DL yet?" I about died!!!
How are we going to make it 4 more months?????

Aahh! My DH did that last night too! At the dinner table, he said "So for DL, we need a new camera?" I broke our camera last time we were at DL, so I could recover "You mean because of DL, we need a new camera?"

We are planning surprise trip too, kind of. My kids have never been to Disneyland, and neither has my DH for that matter! (last time I was there was over 20 years ago) My kids have been talking about wanting to go for a long time, so a while back I asked them how they would feel about taking a trip to Disneyland as a Christmas gift. They all thought it was a great idea, and I even made a special Disneyland savings jar that the kids can toss all our loose change into. (they understand a trip to Disney is expensive for a large family like ours, so we gotta save our money!) A couple months back we found out we are expecting a baby around Thanksgiving, so a December Disney trip is just not going to happen. I told them we would perhaps still "buy" the trip as a Christmas gift, but just postpone until February. The truth is, when we found out about the baby, we changed our reservations to mid-September! I'm not sure yet how I'm going to surprise them, but I know we'll tell them at home that morning. (I'm thinking maybe a giant box waiting in the living room when they wake up, stuffed with balloons and a Disney stuffed animal for each kid, and have the box all wrapped up in Christmas paper) My kids have never been on an airplane, so I want them to get out as much of their excited wiggles as possible before we arrive at the airport.

We leave in a little over four hours!! In-laws decided to tell DS that he was going to DLand (we didn't tell them we were going because of their big mouths, they just assumed). I told DS that DLand was in Cali, but we were definitely hitting the beach. Hopefully the surprise will still be surprising!! We'll be laying on the beach by Sunday, then at DLH on Thursday!!!! So ready for this vacation!!!!!!!!

Darn those DH! My biggest fear is that we will make it to like a day away, and then blow the surprise! If we're going to blow it, might as well do it now so that we can still have the usual pre-trip excitement with DD. Hopefully I scared him enough this time that he won't say a word! :rotfl:

Sounds like fun, and I will add you to the list! I still want to do at least one visit at Christmas time. Congrats on the baby, and let us know how the surprise goes! Oh, and let me know your dates when you can.

What a wonderful trip. :thumbsup2For first time on the plane, we had each children caryy their own backpacks, with their lunch boxes inside full of snacks. They also had several presents inside (notebooks, crayons, happy meal toys) that were wrapped up and they could open one each hour. It really helped! I found lots of ideas online about first plane rides for kids.

Thank you for the suggestions, I really appreciate it! Even though we will have a pretty short flight (coming from Seattle), we are going to allow an entire day for traveling down there and an entire day for traveling back home. I'm hoping by doing it this way we can keep everyone's stress level down. Since this will be their first plane ride, that will be a trip in itself! lol!

Oh, and our dates are September 19-24

We've decided we're going to say we're going to las vegas...staying for one night and then 'going home' hahahha
