Anyone else hate Kohls?

A few years ago I canceled my Kohls acct because the customer svc seemed to stink and I had sent a payment which they posted to my account 2 weeks later and charged me a fee. Well, I had not shopped there for years and decided to give it another try prior to Christmas and just had the same thing happen. Check sent 12/18, posted almost 2 weeks later after they charged me fees. I called. They said they didn't receive it. I won't be shopping there again, and canceled the card. Anyone else have this happen with Kohls? I have never had this with any other credit card or bill.

Sorry you have had such negative experiences. I love Kohls and have never had a problem, however, I pay my KCC payment either in-store (90% of the time) or online (which is very easy, you set this up via their website). I pay the majority of our bills either online, of via the telephone (both free via telephone - Verizon & Time Warner) for this very reason... some places are slow to post payments (but quick to post a late charge)! I don't want to chance it! :goodvibes

I hate Kohls, but it has nothing to do with their credit card.

I use to shop there all the time. So much that I had a gold credit card. You know if you spend so much during the year, they would give you a gold card and you would have more saving opportunities. I never had a problem with their credit card, but its been more than 5 years since I have used it which could be why!

I stopped shopping there because I always left angry. They would always have one register open. The line would form and they would ALWAYS take the people at the end of the line in the new line. ALWAYS. I would be the next or the second to the front in line and I would be trapped. I would complain that they should take the next in line not the last in line, but it never changed. I stopped shopping there when they began to push the credit card. I understand why they do it. I just would be so angry to be trapped in line, ready to check out and they would offer a credit card to the person who just checked out and I would have to wait even longer.

I started just pushing my cart out of line and walking out of the store when this happened. It was happening so often, I decided it wasn't worth the trouble.

At Target and other stores, they will come and get the next person in line and I really appreciate this.

Just wanted to add, its not just my Kohls, it happened at other Kohls stores too.

I use to love Kohl's and the deals you could get, but, I feel like the stuff is 'junk' anymore.
Everytime I order something - it has to go back, either it has a hole in it or its sewn wrong :confused3.
I have now started shopping at JCPenny and find good deals there!! :thumbsup2

Yep I hated the Khol's charge card. They kept changing the due date on payments- I had bought a $10 item that I ended up paying $20 for because of a late fee. All because they changed the due date to 2 weeeks earlier than usual. I didn't pay attention and missed it.

I thought that stunk and they should have sent a letter telling me it was changing not just change it on the bill.
So I don't use that card anymore. I didn't cancel it. I just don't use it.

I have been boycotting Kohls for a couple of years this year I saw something 75% off before x-mas went into the store and paid cash, then DS wanted a Rose Bowl t-shirt, couldn't find one anywhere but Kohls they were sold out, went back, hoping someone would bring it back and low and behold they did so not boycotting anymore but not using charges either.

Never had a problem at Kohl's myself; of course I wouldn't have a dept store credit card so that's never been a problem, and I won't go when it's crazy busy so lines weren't a problem either.

I'm sorry you have had bad experiences!

Kohls does not "hold" their credit card. Their credit business is all through Chase. If you want to be ticked about their credit practices, be ticked at Chase.

Kohl's is the only store for which i do have a dept store credit card. My DH pays our bills on-line and has never complained about it. The only reason i have this card is that they do tie discounts directly to having the card. Macy's use to do this but now they seem to just have the 20% when you open it and all other discounts can use a regular visa with the coupons. The other stores seem to be one time items and i don't bother - unless I am buying something really really expensive and then i guess i might open it and close it right away. I think i did this once or twice.

I like Kohls for what it is, but i also agree that it is going downhill a bit. To me what it means is low cost for low quality items and some good deals here and there. You have to accept that and you have to accept that they initial price is way inflated to what the item is worth. I also believe that they will mark items up and then put them on sale.

At Christmas they had a timex kid's watch. it was 29.99. On sale at 50% off and then i was able to use my 30% coupon. I think in the end i paid about 12.50 for it. Got home and went to take the price tags off, under the $29.99 was a $19.99 price tag. Went to Target the next day and the non-sales price for the same item was $14.99. So, 12.50 was probably still a few dollars off but certainly not the bargain they wanted me to think.

The more I shop there and now understand their pricing, the less I spend. I don't fall for the fake sales anymore. A 25% or 30% discount is rarely going to be good enough for my to buy something as the cost is still too high for the item/quality. With a good sale and with an additonal coupon, I can start to consider purchasing at 50% or 60% off. Even then, a sweater marked at $50 for a kid and made of cheap material is not going to get my $25!

We went to Kohls's yesterday, i had 2 ipod radio speakers to return. They did not work (but this was not Kohl's fault - generation 2 itouch issue). I did end up with store credit instead of credit card and that was my choice. The reason was that i rec'd Kohl's cash when i bought them (which i then used on something else.) If they put it on charge card they would back-out the kohl's cash - which is fair. With the store credit i could get back the full amount. I am wondering if those who have mentioned getting credit might have been in a situation like this and the clerk just did not explain it well? I am ok with the credit as i will use it.

I did find a few things worth purchasing. I got my son snow boots for a final price of $12 and my husband found men's Reeboc sneakers for $25. On the flip side, the sheets that they had out in the aisle yesterday with big signs were about $70 but the thread count was only 325! Even though we need sheets, no way was I paying that price!!

For those who shop at kohl's, haven't you ever noticed this? Many items are 40-50% off EVERY week. When they are the same price every week or two, this is NOT a sale. Customers think they're getting a good deal, but they're really just paying the regular (inflated) price.

So many other stores are doing this now too, like Shopko here in the midwest. I can't shop at these types of stores! My retail-minded brain won't let me because I see through this type of scam!

I noted last month Kohl's moved my due date from the 22nd down to the 16th.
I'm glad I looked at due date on-line otherwise I wouldn't have seen it and I would of been charged a finance charge this month, plus a late fee.

Kohl's gives you a certain amount to pay to avoid finance charges. Right now I owe $440. This month Kohl's wanted $120.00 and I would not be charged a finance charge.

I usually shop on-line with Kohl's, especially when they send out the extra 10-30% off extra coupon. You can go on-line and find the code anywhere, even on the DIS boards. Someone will ask, and within minutes some one will have it.

My dh loves their Levi's. The 569's Levi's used to be $28.00 on sale and now I have never seen them cheaper than $31.99. I'll buy them with the 30% off and get them for $22.

One last thing, I used to work for Kohl's part time during the Christmas Season. Kohl's is absolutely crazy with changing their sale prices. One of the managers told me, the worst type of sale is the buy one get one for 1/2 price.

I used to praise Kohl's for their sales & shop there at least once a month. I had to return a pair of sneakers as they didn't fit my child when I got them home.(I can't take him shopping without help, he is autistic.) I had trouble returning them as they were a clearance or sale item. I took store credit for the shoes. They gave me a gift card & a coupon that I could use online. I am thinking GREAT!
I look online & find a Fall coat for him. I use gift card & coupon. Clearly states online that coat is water resistant, fleece lined, black with red stripes on sleeve, "name brand" Fall jacket. I get coat in wrong size. It is red with white stripes, not the "name brand" not fleece lined, is nylon & not water resistant. I call customer service they tell me to donate the coat to charity as it was a clearance sale. They would credit my account & send a new correct jacket. Four weeks later I call & ask what happened to replacement jacket. They claim it was sent. I got within a day or 2 same jacket they sent first time. This time I return to store as now CC has been charged double for wrong jacket. (Only this time $10 more for second coat) I explain my story & they give me refund for second coat but not first. They told me to donate coat to charity & they would replace coat. So I now have been refunded for one coat charged the extra 10 for second coat & when instead of donating to charity I try to return to store they won't take it. They claim it was replaced/returned. Well, if I have the coat in my hand how was it returned?
So I returned a pair of sneakers & basically got a coat I didn't want & doesn't fit anyone instead & have no course of action.
No more online shopping with them for me!

I've had great experience at Kohl's for 6+ years. I don't use their website though, just the brick-and-mortar store. I get great deals there and qualify for their MVC so I get extra coupons throughout the year. I use the card, but pay it at the end of the month 90% of the time. They have a minimum payment, a minimum payment to avoid finance charges and a full payment option, which I appreciate. I either pay the bill in the store or through my online banking which has a one day turnaround, so I've never been late.

It's lousy that you've had such bad experiences though - gues it's as much about store by store as anything else.
