Anyone else getting wanderlust during this extended lockdown?

I sure am!!! I've been reading other people's Africa trip reports, looking at their photographs as well as my own, and commenting on travel posts on the Fodor's forum as I re-live my July 2019 family trip to London and South Africa!!! This was the biggest item on my travel bucket list, and I crossed it off. It was an incredible trip!

So now I'm making a new travel bucket list. This time I'm thinking about an overwater bungalow in French Polynesia for DH and my 30th wedding anniversary. A girl can dream....

What's on your post lockdown travel bucket list?

Nothing as exotic as above. DW and I were supposed to drive to the Florida Keys this Saturday. Hopefully we can go in the fall.

We've been looking at photos from previous vacations and reminiscing about the good times we had.

To answer the question, Australia and New Zealand are still on out bucket list.

I ALWAYS have wanderlust! But I am resigned to being home for a while now and living vicariously through the Facebook page called “view from my window”. It is where people from all over the world are posting pictures from their windows to share together during quarantine. Some of the places are amazing. If you are in FB, I urge you to check it out.

I am not planning anything right now. I have had two trips cancelled so far due to the shutdown and the possibility of two or three more upcoming ones meeting the same fate. I am not making any plans about anything until I have the freedom to follow through on the plans made.

The bucket list hasn’t changed. I’m too busy trying to get refunds for a trip that were terminated mid trip and trips that were canceled by the supplier to book anything new.

Yes!! I am always planning trips and going on them.
We have 3 cancelled trips.
May's trip to WDW.
June Disney cruise (not going but also not canceled yet)
Aug. river cruise in Russia :(

Nothing until Oct.....that has to be a record for us

I still want to go to the Seattle area, but that's pretty much already planned out, I just need to rebook everything. I have a lot of fun planning itineraries for our trips. Hawaii, specifically Oahu, is still in the plans in the next few years. It was going to be Seattle this summer, Hawaii a year or two after that. I've also been looking at the south - a friend of mine recently visited the area and loved the plantation tours. I don't know if I could get that close to WDW and not check it out, though. Outside the US there's many places in Europe I'd love to see. That probably won't happen until the kids are grown.

We are looking forward to traveling again, but trying not to think about it too much because we have no idea when it will be possible. But we will certainly be traveling when we can.

I will! Thank you for telling me about it!!!

I know how disappointed you must be (especially about the river cruise in Russia!!!). We only had a couple drive to condo beach trips planned - Myrtle Beach for Easter Break (cancelled) and Virginia Beach in early August (wait and see for now). The beach will be there when it is finally safe to roam. I'm going to truly relish going somewhere/anywhere when we are released.

I definitely am! My dad, sister and I have a trip booked for London and Paris in early October that we were so excited for but are pretty resigned to the fact now that it won’t happen. Even if it’s safer or allowed by then, we don’t think the situation will make it much fun (don’t want to have to be on a plane that long or walk around tourist sites in masks). If it’s cancelled or international travel is still not advised, but domestic travel is safer, we may just do something else this fall. And I don’t know when we’d try to reschedule this trip for. Possibly not even until 2022 just to give an even longer time to hopefully get through this. But it sucks, because we’ve been wanting to do this for so long and finally actually booked it and then all this happens. :(

Like Meriweather, we had a russian river cruise on our short list, we were thinking of booking by the end of this year, if not before. Still the plan, and we are watching for good deals and prices - problems we are finding is that it would seem that others who had to cancel this year have re booked for NEXT year, when we were going to go! So inventory on cabins are down - but we are hopeful and just watching and waiting. Luckily we are flexible w/ our schedule .

We usually always have something travel related in the works, we would have been in the Bahamas about now, but that got scuttled.

I can't wait to be able to go somewhere, anywhere again!

Yes, so much!! It's just as bad as it is after a big trip, i cant stop dreaming & planning. I've had to cancel April & May trips. I planned June & July trips, but then my doc says she doesn't want me traveling till August at the earliest, so now I'm planning September & October trips 😂

Nothing so exotic though, I'm mostly dreaming about US roadtrips right now. I've added about 10 trips to my roadtrippers.com planning account in the last month

Pretty much the only thing really bothering me about lockdown is not being able to travel. Finally got my third week of vacation this year and can't go anywhere.

We had been planning something in Europe for the fall, that won't be happening. In the running were:
Portugal (Lisbon definitely, possibly other cities)
Scotland (Edinburgh and highlands)
France (Loire valley, Normandy, Brittany, more of Paris... really just everywhere in France)
Spain (Granada and more of Andalucia. We adored Seville two years ago and would love to get back)
Belgium (Brussels, Ghent, Bruges)

No wanderlust for me at all. We usually travel 6 weeks of the year (we both work full time and that is all the vacation we get). And, usually always working on planning our next adventures. However, after multiple trip cancellations recently I have no desire to even check out destinations to visit in the future. Just not into it, because I have no idea when we will be able to travel.

Yes...always ready for the next adventure. I have two planned this year. They may be postponed but I won't cancel. I will move them a bit down the road.

I always have my trips all planned out until now. I had to cancel our trip to Zion National Park and realistically will be canceling our WDW trip in June. I do not want to plan because everything is so up in the air. I will not be comfortable on vacation if I have to be constantly on guard against the virus. I don’t even want to plan as it seems too sad. So, for now, I am just waiting it out.

Zion gets pretty busy. I'd look at Bryce. It's at a higher elevation, and you go during the summer. It's also less busy. You can hit the major trails over an extended weekend. I'm hoping the parks open. I'm still planning to go to Glacier in August.
