Anyone else get "all choked up" at WDW?

I just thought all of my trips I have never been to mk when it opens..we are not early risers...so what happens at opening... :earsgirl: it is so crazy that just talking about disney and thinking about it can get us so excited..but just looking at the pictures makes me so happy.. :grouphug:

I think WDW really gets to you. This past trip we took my DSIL on her first trip. The first part of the trip she thought I'd turned into a total sap because I cried at Fantasmic (my DS first viewing, he was 22 mos.). But by the middle of our trip, things were different. We had breakfast at Breakfastosaurus and my DSIL saw the a little boy's reaction to Mickey and SHE cried! She didn't even know the kid. It just made her so happy to see his face just light up. I thought it was too funny! Amazing how the tables turn after Disney works its magic.

I always, always get teary eyed at Main Street.

Everything makes me cry...and not just WDW. But, WDW specifically....

Seeing the castle
Special needs children getting special attention
Married Couples still in love...gazing at the castle or fireworks
Fantasmic
Wishes
The sappy songs
Being blessed enough being there in the first place
My plane landing safely

You name it..........................

I cry walking into the lobby at WL, Wishes and seeing my daughter's face light up when she meets the princesses!

Only 24 more days until I will be there again! :cheer2:

I actually start getting a little misty-eyed while I am driving in to WDW. As soon as I see the signs outside telling me of the parks, it is my confirmation that I am there.

I can also say that my Uncle just went down on his very first trip to "The Land of Mouse". ::MickeyMo He never thought he would be able to go but my Dad took him about a month ago. My Uncle just about cried like a baby as he was walking down Main Street and he saw the Castle. He came back saying that he wishes I could have been with them and he had seen stuff that week that he never thought he would have seen as long as he lived. Needless to say, he had a great time (but I do everytime I go as well).

Any of the Lion King shows/movies, like the planet one in the Land at Epcot. My daughter is always mortified but last time she just rolled her eyes! Guess she's getting used to it!

I know these have all been good happy tears but this next one isn't too happy so skip it if you want! One very sad time last trip when I cried was when a little girl about 7 or 8 was so upset because she had misplaced her autograph book, or forgotten it at the hotel or something. She was with a younger boy and presumedly her parents. She wasn't bratty at all, just sad and panicked about it. And her mother loudly laid into her about how stupid she was being and, basically, that she was an idiot for forgetting it in the first place. The little girl was SO upset from what her mother said to her that she went over to the curb and just sat there weeping quietly, trying to be brave, while her mother turned her back to her and talked nicely to the boy. I could tell this little girl was completely crushed, and they were at the entrance to AK, hadn't even gone in yet. I watched this whole thing and couldn't believe that this mother could be so hurtful. She didn't try to be comforting at all! My husband saw me and knew what was going to happen, I just sobbed into his neck and as we walked away, he had his arm around me and tried to make it better but I just couldn't stop for like 5 mins. Oh darn here I am doing it again!! I wanted so badly to go buy her another one myself but was afraid that crazy mother would call security on me. If it happens again though, I probably would take the chance! Poor little kid!! :guilty:

Yeah... some parents just don't get the magic. You got me to well up with this story. Makes you want to go buy an autograph book and run around and get as many signatures as you can, so the little girl had something....

Bubba73,

Cut it out! I'm getting misty at work! I'll tell you, I used to be a person who never cried very much. Once I had my children I changed. I am now known to to well up on many occasions. Almost always in circumstances surrounding children or parents. I think it's just you can really imagine it as if those were your children.

This is really a great thread.

The "Golden Dreams" song during American Adventure reduces me to tears.

I get all choked up every time I hear the music from the Electrical Parade ("Baroque Hoedown"). I guess it made me so sad that it was ending, thinking I'd never get to see it again. It happened to me the other night while watching the farewell season video. We're going to DCA to see it after Xmas, so I expect I'll cry again! :sad1:

I recently came back from my first trip to Disney and when I got onto Main Street and saw the castle for the first time, I had tears in my eyes.

I get HORRIBLY choked up during WISHES! Especially during the ending!! If you see a grown woman crying her eyes out in the middle of Main Street during WISHES!, it just might be me!

I also cry during the "One's Man's Dream" movie at the end of the attraction. :confused3  I just LOVE Walt Disney!

Like most of the people on this board I have grown up with Disney. My aunts made sure I saw every Disney animated movie in the theater since I was born in 1975. Before my familiy had cable I loved visiting my relatives who did just so I could watch the Disney Channel. :earboy2:

However I never had the opportunity to go DisneyWorld or Land. So when my wife and I got married 5 years ago, I was thrilled when she thought that a DisneyWorld trip would be a great honeymoon spot. We actually registered at our AAA office and our family and friends paid for the entire thing. So at the age of 25 I finally was able to visit the place I had been dreaming of my whole life. :teeth:

Needless to say, I cried so many times that week I think my wife probably thought I was nuts. I cried as we approached MK our first morning, especially when I saw the castle. When I met Mickey, walking through the gates at Epcot, taking the tour at MGM, going the Haunted Mansion, at Fantasmic, walking in the falling snow with my wife at MVMCP, and a few other times when I realized that I was really there.

So now we leave in 10 days for our 2nd trip and we are taking my 2 1/2 DD who is (like most girls her age) into the princesses. But I am pleased to announce that I have done my best to introduce her to as many other Disney Characters and she seems to have most of them down so she should recognize any character we meet. :earsboy: Granted, I have had the waterworks flowing the last month whenever I see how happy she gets just looking at pictures with me on DISboards.

I get all teary eyed when I watch WISHES. It is so moving and inspiring. Can't wait to see Holiday Wishes.

Cyco13,

My daughter's first trip to WDW was when she was 2 1/2! It was amazing! You think you cried when you went, wait til she sees the castle for the first time. I was videoing and crying at the same time. Disney was always so amazing for myself growing up. I had no idea how much more fulfilling it was bringing my own children. I cannot wait to go again, just to experience it through their eyes.

:p I got all teary at the end of Soarin' when you-know-who flies out and...

Voldemort?

But seriously, folks...

Chalk me up as another big manly-man who will, at random times, just flat lose it. I can't help it. I can remember many moons ago my mom scrimped and saved and took me and my two brothers down for a couple of days. She couldn't afford it, but we hadn't had much growing up and after dad died, I think she wanted us to try to salvage something of a normal childhood. I dunno. I don't have a lot of specific memories, but I know it awoke something inside me that I still treasure to this day; a love of the mouse.

Now, I know it's a ways into the future, and a lot can happen between now and then, but I have this grand plan that, in five years, when my little nephew will be 6, of taking my entire family back to the World. I've gotten lucky and married way out of my league to a wonderful woman (who's six months away from finishing her residency and making doctorr money) who loves Disney almost as much as I do. My family back home still doesn't have much, but they've got love, strong family ties, and a solid grounding in reality. I have to share Disney with them. I just have to.

We're going in March (just broke 100 days on Thanksgiving) with a great friend and his family, none of whom have been to Disney. They're looking to me (as the resident Disney nut) to lead them. It's a lot of pressure, but thanks to my Disney OCD and the DIS, I'm up to the task. I'm sure the look on Mike's face when he sees the castle for the first time (we're starting with the MK and ending with Fantasmic (and then the Wonder)) will set me off.

The others: Festival of the Lion King, every time.
Fantasmic and Illuminations.
Golden Dreams.
Almost any live performance, whether it's acrobats or a hs marching band.
At MCO, seeing the DCL reps waving those big Mickey hands.

And you people have made me nervous. The last time we were there, they were still doing Fantasy for closing fireworks, and that got to me as well. I think I need to go find Wishes on cd to prepare myself...

and finally:

"Though we say goodbye, we cast a spell that won't be broken,
Let this night forever...live in our dreams!!"

I have been going to WDW pretty much my whole life, but my wife had never been. Her family didn't have a lot of money growing up so never got a real vacation. I took her when our son was finally old enough to go. Before we went, she wasn't sure what the big deal was. I think she thought it was going to be an expensive Six Flags. She did keep telling me that she wanted to see the castle because she had always wanted to see it as a little girl. Otherwise, she was ready to get it all over and get back to normal life.

We went to MK the first day and stood in line waiting for the gate to open. While waiting, one of the CM's at the gate called everybody's attention to a seven-year old little girl whose birthday was that day. The CM had everybody sing Happy Birthday to her. That really touched my wife She was impressed that someone at an amusement park would pay that much attention to a little girl.

The gate opened and we went in. She was impressed some more by the train depot, and the detail of Main Street. We were just rounding the corner and heading down Main Street when my wife turned to me and said, "So where is the castle?" Before I could answer, she turned her head, looked down Main Street, and caught site of the castle. I heard her make a small gasp; she started to tear up. My wife said "Oh my God, I didn't realize it would be so beautiful." We got a coffee at one of the shops and sat outside at one of the outdoor tables (I don't remember which) and watched the castle and all of the people walk by for about half an hour.

She's hooked now and can never wait to plan our next vacation. We spend our time in the evening and at meals discussing what we'll do on our next trip or what new rides we'd like to see added to the parks. She even wants to treat my mom and dad to a Decmeber trip because my mom has always wanted to see the Christmas decorations. I've been trying to avoid that one ;-)

My wife still gets choked up as we round that corner.
