I have been so sad all day :(

I believe that, if this Comcast thing goes through, Disney as we know it is done.

Comcast is a joke of a company that will run Disney into the ground. I have lived in Philadelphia all my life, and Comcast has been a sore subject in this city for a long, long time. In fact, their history of customer service is a joke and a disaster.

Sorry to go on and on, but I am feeling so very sad about this. Based on what I've been reading all day (this is a very hot topic on all the Philly news websites), it sounds like a hostile takeover is imminent.

Aaaarrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!

Depressed -- already been there so that doesn't make a difference.

Worried, yes.

Here is an interesting tidbit I just found on Marketwatch

Now for the kicker: "It all makes perfect sense. Microsoft will sweeten the pot and offer a higher price for Disney, PLUS will try to take out Six Flags. Wait and see. Under MSFT ownership, the Disney brand could be spread to all the PKS parks. Goodbye Warner Bros."

That would be interesting. Disney has teamed up with Microsoft lately on some things. Gates would have the money to save Disney from Comcast.

I've said it once, I'll say it again: I do not wanna go on (and will not go on) Spaceship Cable box OR Rockin Remote Controller

Actually, no. Hostile aquisitions are very difficult to pull off.

I'd be very suprised if it happens.

::yes::

i really hate comcast. i even started a thread about how much i dislike them a couple of weeks ago.

I've never even heard of Comcast. If it goes through, will Disney employees be Comcastmembers?;)

Seriously though, I agree with the thought that if it goes through, the Disney we have all loved for so many years will take a nasty downward turn. I hope it doesn't happen. The company is having enough problems as it is.:(

Six Flags isn't owned by Warner Brothers, I think their owned by Premier Parks. The characters are licensed.

I have never despised a company as much as I detest Comcast. I just saw their clueless president at a news conference broadcast on Philly Action News. He was going on an on about what a wonderful merger this would be. Does he have any idea how much his beleaguered customers hate his rotten company, criminal practices, incompetent employees, wretched "service" and nasty attitudes? These CEOs really do live above it all.

Actually, if this goes through, the most likely scenario is that comcast will split disney up and sell the parts. Comcast really only wants the disney media stuff. They don't want to get into the business of running the parks and resorts, it's just WAY out of their league. If Roy and Stan DID have anything to do with this, it's probably so that they could split off the stuff they really care about and let things like abc run into the ground without taking disney with it.

If the Comcast proposed purchase of Disney goes through, then I believe that Disney as an American icon will be gone.

Disney was built on the concept of great entertainment and has grown based on providing that entertainment with excellent customer handling / service. Comcast doesn't even know how to spell "service". Comcast has been built based on usually being the only game in town for cable or broadband service. You either went with Comcast, or did without.

I think that the vast majority of Comcast customers who have been burned repeatedly by Comcast would be very, very scared of going to a Disney themepark, vacation resort, or cruise if Comcast owned Disney. I can just hear it now - have you tried rebooting your ride? We'll we'll ask second level support - they might call you back next week.

I surely hope that this deal does NOT go through.

I have internet and cable service by comcast...my family and I find the company to be great! (at least the local branch) I'm depressed they'd partner with Disney...but not because I feel Disney will be hurt by this...

ITA. Comcast is interested in acquiring Disney's Media Operations. The want ABC and ESPN. They want the film distribution and possibly the Animation studios. I have a hard time imagining they would have any interest at all in running the theme park operations. In fact, I'm already seeing articles speculating on the value of the Theme Parks, and whether Six Flags or another enterprise would be interested in purchasing the Disney "Brand" to boost their existing operations. I shudder to think that WDW could ever become "Six Flags Over Florida."

I have read many rumors also that Roy Disney is behind the Comcast manuevers. But they are just that -- rumors. I'm still waiting for some facts.

Evil Princess, I don't think they meant to imply that Warner Bros owned Six Flags, but that the Warner Bros characters currently seen at Six Flags will be out if Disney is in the picture.

I hate this entire situation! I am trying not to think alot about it.

ferelpeg... I have a dd Kendall too!!! (she's 2! princess: )

Disneyfan551, I can't wait to tell my Kendall about your Kendall. She thinks she is the only girl with that name!
