we were there this past friday and i was so disappointed with the night! WDW was BEAUTIFUL all week long with xmas decorations and music, and even some of the holiday-themed parades. i was really feelin' the magic during the week, so i expected that friday night would be extra magical... as it turned out, the extra $300 for this 1 crazy-busy night seemed so not worth it! we were in a sold-out crowd and it was so HECTIC after a slow, lovely week.

...not to mention that i did NOT SEE SNOW on main street!!! i was unaware that it was only there at certain times of the night and we missed it completely :guilty:

just wondering if anyone else had similar experiences?

I'm sorry you had a bad night. Friday's do get very busy as the locals come to the party. I thought the snow falls during the whole thing, but I guess I was wrong. You could also see snow at the osborne lights. I'm still looking forward to mvmcp on the 12th. If you were in the park during the day (before mvmcp) was it crowded?

We went last year and I love Christmas, however, I could take or leave MVMCP. The expense doesn't seem worth it. I have free snow at home and can make my own Swiss Miss Cocoa :rotfl: . I am glad we had the experience.

Sorry you were disappointed. It is true as a rule...mid week parties are far less crowded than week ends. The party is great but crowds can ruin it. Did you stay till close? the crowd seems to thin out after hoilday wishes.

Although the atmosphere is really wonderful we much prefer MNNSHP. The first time we went to MVMCP we really had a great time, the second time, way to crowded and I DO go middle of the week to avoid the locals. I really think December no matter what week, is really becoming more and more popular. From the first year we went to the last year we went 2004 the increase in the crowd was really noticable and both times we went the first week of the month. Last year and this year we have gone in November and October and although I miss the Christmas things (although you do catch allot of that in November), I much prefer the fall to December.

We love the party although there have been times the crowds prevented doing rides. It always snows at 7 and close to parades on main st. Did they have free photos this year?

i went to the first one on the 13th and loved it. the parade is amazing and the county bounty character costumes are so cute. i don't think there are free photos, just half price ones.

I am a bit disappointed, but mainly because nothing new seems to be happening at these parties. I went to MNSSHP and MVMCP last year, and this year's parties seem to be clones. Characters are the same, shows are the same, etc. Just nothing new to do, not really worth the expense in my case. I went to MVMCP on Nov 13th, and left at 10:15, partly because I didn't feel well, and partly because there was not much else to do! I am in no hurry to do any parties next year. :(

Wow - we went on the 13th (the first night) and it was great...we were afraid we would get the tail end of Jersey week, but it was not crowded at all. Maybe you were hitting the beginning of Thanksgiving crowds? We went early, ate at LTT, watched the first Wishes (which was the non-Christmas version), rode a lot of rides and watched the show at Galaxy theater before the second Wishes, then watched the second parade. It definitely snowed on Main Street during the parade. The parade was different than the one we saw last year (only one carriage with horses - Cinderella and Prince), but was still good. The cocoa seemed better this year (don't ask my why!). We did get the cocoa and cookies in Frontierland and that was a good stop, because they had entertainment in there, which was nice while we were waiting in line for the five minutes or so...Also, as others have reported, no free picture. You get a special photopass that you can use all night that gives 50% off (haven't bought mine yet, so not sure if that is just on one picture or on all pictures from the night). Anyway, definitely shows how different nights can make a big difference. I posted this elsewhere, but strollers are free. We entered at 4 pm and there was a separate entrance - walked right in - great signs showing the regular park closing time. We were asked for our wristbands all night long, at rides and picture stops. Everything went smoothly on that front...

Only one time, when it poured down rain. The parade and fireworks were cancelled, and we left early. Otherwise, I've always loved the party! We've never been on a weekend day though. Usually a Tuesday.

I'm sorry you didn't have a great time.....but awfully glad you were feeling the magic during the rest of your trip!

We attenderd MVMCP in 2004, we bought tickets to that instead of another day for our park hopper, had I known then what I know now I would have just gone another day to the park versus spending the extra money on tickets for that, I did not think it was worth it at all. The snow was very cool to see but not worth the money we paid. The lines for the free pic were soooooo long that we did not even worry about it. We went on a Tues. night and it was not sold out, I cannot even begin to imagine the crowd on a sold out night.

They used to hand out free MVMCP button pins when you lined up for the free photos, but all that has stopped now :confused3

They also used to have fresh sugar cookies and then they started giving out store bought hard cookies :confused3

Budget cuts and price increases might make this our last MVMCP

Speaking about cookies...What kind do they have this year?

Glad to hear all of the suggestions on the party. We are going in December. My problem is where to eat. We are on the DDP although I waited to long to make reservations and all the table service times are gone. Anyone have any suggesitons on good places that would serve counter service at MK. Also what time to get there, what time to eat in order to see all the activities.
Things I want to do is see snow on Main St, 1st parade, and Fireworks and try to get something to eat without missing anything.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

We went on a Tuesday night, so it wasn't too crowded, but we weren't crazy about the party either. It was okay, but not a must-do for us.

The snow on Main Street was nice...but honestly I preferred the snow at the Obourne Lights in MGM. So if you saw them, you didn't miss much.

I'm glad the rest of your vacation was fun.

We enjoyed it when we went in 2003, and we enjoyed MNSSHP last year, but we have decided against doing the party this year. I decided to spend that money on a couple of cool surprises instead!

I know I'm in the minority, but I was disappointed.
We went on a large family trip in 2004 and I thought it was incredibly crowded, which was disappointing to me after reading so much about it here. Ride lines were not bad at all, but other than that it seemed packed...shoulder to shoulder. We couldn't even get into a couple of the shows and had a very hard time finding a spot to watch the parade. I was the most disappointed though in my family, everyone else said it was crowded, but they still liked it...I may have hyped it too much in my head, but I really didn't think it was worth the extra $450 it cost us in tickets.

I went last year and had fun, but for me, MNSSHP was much more fun. There seemed to be more to do and more ambiance. I could be wrong, but I was just amazed with MNSSHP.

Of course, I do love me some villains. :p

I would not pay extra for any party, MNSSHP, MVMCP, etc if I already had a ticket for a theme park during the day, park hopper, etc. I do feel it would be a waste of money. That's why I have made sure to do the party only for that day or make a special trip around one of the parties. When you just go to the party for the day you end up saving money and you get the Magic Kingdom with no lines, usually. This works out great and also gives you a relaxing day, so you can be ready for the evening activities!
