Anyone else annoyed that they didn't get any kind of bounceback or discounted rate in the mail or email? When chatting w/ a Disney CM about any discounted rates she just said they are random in the resort rooms. Well, not for nothing, but after going there 10 times-staying in a room that's at least $300+ a night-we can't get a break!!!! We have never gotten any discounted rates/bouncebacks. Then she said keep your email up to date. They have both our email & home address because the last few trips we've been sent surveys!!!! ARRGGHH!!!!!

We have stayed at a WDW resort about 40 times since 1992 and we have never received a discount in the mail or e-mail. Everything is up to date with them, but no discount offer. We have had AAA and AP discounts for most of our trips though.

They are trying to get new people in to spend money. They already know you are going and spending lots without a discount.

You're probably right. But since we have vacation planning in the process I would think they would still want returning guests to come back. Trust me-we still spend $$ there. Even when they offer free dining we still spend on other things. I am hesitant to plan anything especially when the CM said you better book now if you are serious about your upcoming trip when all I asked was for any info on future discounted rates-etc.

Heck yeah I'm annoyed!!! We are going on our second trip in December. Several people on these boards have mentioned getting pins or codes sent to them for free dining (not the Disney Visa offer), for the exact dates we are going to be there! That's great, paying for food when the people sitting next to us are getting it free.
You guys have been going to Disney for years. I would be beyond annoyed if I were you.

I agree with the poster that mentioned new people. I've never signed up for any Disney info until I started using this board to research my family's October trip. Lo and behold two days later I get a PIN in my email for free dining! The sad part for me is that our trip is from 10/22 til 10/27 so my pin falls outside of those dates. :sad2: I know how hard it is to get a PIN and I may never see another one... :sad1:

I'm so annoyed. I think it stinks that loyalty is not rewarded but I guess it's like that with all big business. I mean I'm happy for the other people but find it not fair for those of us who get nothing.

I'm not sure you know what a bounceback offer is.

Everyone that stays on property gets the offer, just watch your Disney Resort channel for information and then call the number on the television (the offer plays over and over within that loop about the parks etc.). You have to book your next trip from the resort (before you leave your current one) and put $200 down (fully refundable up to 45 days before the trip date).

Now not everyone can use the bounceback because its only for certain dates, but the dates are the same for everyone. I recommend booking it and then deciding later if its practical or possible to go.

I've never received a pin code in the mail, but I don't pay rack rate- I got the Disney Visa and I keep checking this site! In my experience the email/snail mail pins have eventually come out for the general public anyways. Also, Visa offers the same or very similar discounts.

Don't get angry- just get familiar with the system and work it! It's how many of us get our discounts!!!!

We were prepared to get the one in the room but were told now it is random.
Not sure if they have changed the policy. But we were on Disney property & none there. I was really hoping to get one & try to work around the dates given -I even had the $200 aside for it! ( Sometimes the website has amazing offers too-that's how we were able to stay at the Poly the 1st time)

I'm sure most people understand how the bounceback offers work. What is not right is when certain people get amazing "pin" specific offers exclusively for them---and the vast majority of loyal disney fans are excluded. These offers are non-transferable and no one seems to know exactly what criteria you have to meet to receive them. So, in this case, there is no "system" to know. If someone knows the secret handshake or password, pass it on.

The random part of a bounceback is that they randomly put the paper under doors (I NEVER GOT ONE). However, the discount is for EVERYONE. If you call the front desk or ask when you're in the lobby they won't know what you are talking about (at least in our experience). You need to call the booking line. We never got the paper offer but each time we called the number on the tv and booked the bounceback. This has been the same for a few years now as we have done it every year for a while.

My father got the paper card pin code with Sleeping Beauty and it is the same fall discount that everyone had access to about a month later.

I used it when it was available to us all then Disney Visa came out with a much better offer (saving me $2800 between 2 rooms as compared to $800 between two rooms with that earlier pin).

I agree that loyalty should be rewarded. However, I am annoyed by the fact that folks with Disney Visas get such great deals. I applied and I was denied. Logic would dictate that people with less than stellar credit need the discount more than someone with great credit. I've got to pay cash for my whole family while someone else gets to delay payment AND get a super deal. Given the state of the economy, WDW is going to have to up the ante on the GP codes if they want to continue their current revenue stream...

I got a 20% pin code last year in the mail and booked our upcoming trip with it. However, people at that time were also getting 30 and 40% pin codes. We have been 6 times in the past 4 years, so I guess that's why we got the 20%.

It was directly tied to ordering the planning cd, I'm sure.

We just moved to another state- it's a new construction- so I ordered another cd in my DH's name, and whatda'yaknow- about 2 weeks later, we get a pincode for 30% off.

THe funny thing is- when the GP code (QXG) came out- I switched and ended up saving 40% off of rack rate ($1300+ savings)

so, the moral of this story-
keep looking for GP codes--- they often are better than the pins.

We order the cd every year-not in hopes of getting a pin or discount-just to keep up with what's going on there. I'll just keep my fingers crossed. I feel I've done everything I can to get one. We'll see...maybe:confused3

Have you applied for the Disney Visa yet? Even if you can't use (or don't want) another credit card, you can set it aside and at least take advantage of the discount offers. There is almost always a Visa discount (although the most recent one is the best I've seen).

You also get discounts on tours and Cirque du Solei (sp?), even shopping discounts (at the World and online).

If you are a big Disney fan, the card is the way to go!

I’m not sure if you understand that Disney and Chase have an agreement to use of rights concerning the Visa. Chase decides who gets the Visa with what limits since they are the ones loaning you money and have to decide on what is an acceptable risk. No one wants to loan money to someone who might not pay it back, especially if they already have a track record in that department. The perks you get with the Disney card (that Disney grants) are there to entice you into using that Chase card, hence Chase makes money from the Disney name and Disney makes money by Chase paying for rights to it. Disney will offer discounts based on your (general your) being a Disney-Chase Visa credit card holder as another reason to make you want to get the card, and more likely to go to Disney with it. It’s all about both companies making money. Might not be fair to someone who has less than stellar credit due to a single circumstance, but life isn’t fair.

Disney’s marketing department randomly chooses criteria in which to email/mail codes to. They can be based on the family size, income, what your signed up for with Disney, what state you live in, children’s ages, planning DVD ordered, etc. It used to be the postcard rates were a better rate than the email codes, but nowadays they seem to be the same.

I received my first pin code without ever having stayed on site, three years after I ordered a planning “tape” without being registered for anything else. I have received some type of pin code every year since. I didn’t think I would this year, but I received one of the free dining pins (already having a ressie) in the last batch of mail outs. Even if my dates would have worked, it wasn’t the best discount out there for me. Most of the time I can’t use the pins when they are sent, however, I have yet to pay rack rate. There are lots of other ways to receive discounts other than pins. Bounceback offers, Disney Visa, AP (the purchase of one AP can be well worth the cost in savings), General Public codes, etc. As I’ve said, pins aren’t always the best discounts.

I agree with the poster who said if you don't get an offer for the bounceback in your room you just need to ask, that's what DH did and the front desk was happy to give us the offer.

We also signed up for the Visa just to get the discounts they offer.

Disney does not have loyality programs so staying with them does not get you anything. If anything depending on how they have their marketing logic built in to the database that generates the random discount offers staying as much as you do at rack rate will probally count against you. Companies usually only offer discounts to get people to come back to their place of business that have been away for awhile or if they are concerned that you will not visit their business without some sort of incentive. This is why we are big fans of the Swan as they truly know how to take care of repeat visitors, then entire Westin chain does or at least this has been my experiance as I travel more and more for business. Disney actually acts as if they do not care about their repeat guests, they push the DVC on their repeat guests. A hotel loyality program would be a great way to reward repeat guests but then that would compete against the DVC. Give the S/D a try if you want a deluxe resort experiance at a competitive price.

Just curious, I have the Disney Visa (I have had it for years) and I never seem to get any promotions from them. However, I get my bill online so I am not sure if I am missing something.

Just go to their website (chase.com/disney), log in to your account and go to current offers. I check this fairly often to get the deals. Sometimes I get email reminders on the current offers, but just in case I keep my eye out! The promotions from them are for all Disney Visa holders, not random like Disney's offers so that is a nice break! :goodvibes
