Anyone else actually like not having daily mousekeeping?

I'll join the others in the "do not miss housekeeping" group. Last stay in oct at BCV, the mousekeepers got confused on which days to clean (or I was confused) and they had cleaned while we were out. It was a tiny bit un-nerving to realize that someone had been in the room while we were gone and not to have expected it. We're (DH and I) are good about making the bed and doing the laundry each day was a breeze.

Got to love that DVC!!

I guess I am the only one in the group that misses the daily housekeeping. Actually my wife keeps asking what type of resort does not have daily housekeeping.

We own another time share in Aruba where the daily housekeeping not only cleans the room, but does the dishes and if you pay extra will even cook for you!

Personally I would prefer to have the daily housekeeping....

Don't forget you can always purchase daily housekeeping or even every other day. I like to look at it this way - when you stay in a regular resort room they are charging you for daily housekeeping as part of your room rate. With DVC, you have the choice of whether you want to pay for it or not.

Depends.

Depends on # of people in my party and which resort I'm in. When I'm with just DH, I don't like maid service at all. Not necessary. But when I have a 2 bedroom in WDW, that extra help is greatly appreciated. Otherwise it'll just be like home. :)

When I'm in Hilton Head though, I spend most time in the rooms, so I don't really need maid service even with a big group.

We like not having mousekeeping. In fact, prior to joining DVC, when we stayed at Disney hotels we put the "Do not disturb" sign out and forgo mousekeeping often. Since I am a part-time graduate student and have a full-time job, I usually have to take my laptop on vacation, so the less people in the room, the better.

Never thought I'd say this, but we do prefer not having daily maid service. We're just not that messy after all and it's nice knowing things are just the way you left them!

Count me in on the "do not miss the housekeeping" club! I agree that it feels more like home.

I agree that I prefer not having daily maid service. The year after we joined DVC, and got used to not having the daily service, we spent two nights in one of their expensive hotels, and I didn't put out a do not disturb sign--and we got disturbed!! Believe me, I did not appreciate a total stranger seeing me naked and "engaged", as they say. That still brings a blush to my face!!! No, I really do not miss having daily maid service:eek:

I don't mind at all. I thought I would hate the fact that I had to straighten up the room but I really don't mind. I quickly pull up the sheets and bedspread!! I don't mind a little wrinkle or clutter while on vacation!!

I LOVE having the laundry facilty and coming home with CLEAN clothes every vacation.

I am "home" sick!!! July won't come soon enough. We are going to Hard Rock Hotel in March and although I can't wait to stay at the hotel, I am dreading all of us in one room!!!

I have no problem with it. We used DVC for 1st trip home in Dec and it was actually nice not having to worry about trying to get outta the room in time before we heard the dreaded KNOCK. Granted it was nice when we got fresh linens and towels.

I'm one of those people with lousy timing so not having to worry about being under foot when housekeeping arives is a great thing. I'm also one of those people who does not care to be waited on all the time. I have always consolidated trash and tied it up, I've always placed the towels in the tub, etc. so no daily housekeeping is just one less thing to worry about. The only thing I ever have a complaint about is that when I check in most of the time the carpets have not been tidied up. No big deal because I have the vaccume, but I would like to be the one who made the mess I'm cleaning!;)

We've stayed twice at bwv and once at wlv now. You know, I don't really *miss* maid service, and I don't mind not having it - it really doesn't bother me. But if I think about staying in a deluxe and how nice it is coming back to a dimly lit room with a turned down bed and clean towels, well, that is nice.

I know, I know, how much do you want to pay for that mint, yada yada. I agree, but it is nice sometimes.

Don't miss it at all. In some way it makes you feel more secure about leaving things in the room.

Definitely don't miss it. I tag along on one of DHs business trips every year. We stay in the same hotel for about a week. He leaves the room about 7 AM to get his seminars started, I roll over for 40 winks, and You guessed it! - the dreaded knock. He tries to remember to put out the Do No Disturb sign as he leaves, but sometimes he forgets and sometimes they ignore it. By the time I awake up enough to holler "no thanks" they are in the room, or sometimes they are non english speaking and come in anyway. (I though "no" was the same in all languages?)

Or I bring a laptop and try to get some work done in the room and feel like I have to leave when they want to clean.

I definitley prefer no housekeeping.

I also like not having daily housekeeping. I found that even if I do put out the Do Not Disturb, they still knock anyway.

We love not having daily maid service. It's nice not having to worry about when the housekeeping service will be in the room. When you have a washer/dryer you don't have to worry about clean towels.

I'm with you Simba's Mom. I felt exactly like you did about no daily service----Now we don't have to rush out of the room--------I love not having it. Amazing how we can change our minds about things.

The one thing that I do miss is no clean towels daily. I have a thing about reusing a towel (I know, not a big deal to most peopl) but I just like a clean towel every morning. And when you stay in a studio you don't have washer and dryers. So I wish they would do daily towel service in the studios. The ones with the washer and dryer - I would probably prefer to do my own towels daily but when you don't have that - to truck all those towels over to the laundry area, find time to do them, wait for them, etc - it's a big hassle in my book. But I grin and bear it and hope for the best. Otherwise - I can do without the daily maidservice. Knowing that we are the only ones using the room - doesn't bother me one bit!!! After all - I don't have daily maid service at home!!!! ;)

We enjoy not having to worry about the maid. Sometimes on T&T day we just grab the fresh towels since we toss our own trash anyway. Since our kids are older (DS 20, DD 17) and they usually have friends there it seems the room is never empty, they have a whole different schedule than DH and I.
