Anyone else actually like not having daily mousekeeping?

Boy, am I surprised to hear myself say this! When we joined DVC, not having daily maid service anymore was disappointing, but to me, a small disadvantage I'd just get used to. Now that I've seen some posts from people thinking of buying DVC, I have to say-if you're worried about losing daily maid service, as I was, don't be. Actually, I've come to love it! On my last trip, it was so great to come back at the end of the day and know that no one had been in MY room. My book was right where I left it for instance. It made it feel that much more like "home", not a hotel. Anyone else surprised to feel this way?

I love not having daily maid service. I feel more at home and don't feel I have to watch out for the maid etc. I almost dislike the T&T day! I usually forget about it.

I actually loved it, because we had to do less cleaning up and putting things away than if we had maid service everyday.

I love not having the daily interruption of cleaning in the villas. It can become very annoying to have to always put everything away and be "gone" when housekeeping is around. Whenever I travel to a regular hotel now I try hard to keep housekeeping away for a day or two.

I don't miss it at all - if we sleep in no one comes walking in on us if we forgot to put the Do Not Disturb sign out - and it feels more like home to me too! We don't feel like we need to plan our day around someone else's schedule - its not missed at all:D

I don't mind it. We usually come back to the room in the afternoon and I like not having to wonder if they have been there or not. We always get a 1 bedroom, so we have the washer/dryer, we do the towels every couple days. Last month we had T & T scheduled for Tuesday and I had just washed towels on Monday afternoon, so I called and had it rescheduled for Wednesday, worked out great since we left Friday.

We prefer it and the absence of the daily intrusion. They always seem to come at the wrong time for us other places.

I also like not having the daily service. In fact I think I'll have the T&T day stopped. We wash the towels and take out the trash when full anyway. Really nothing for them to do that day.

We were also surprised that we didn't miss daily housekeeping. It's great not having to try and guess when they'll be in the room. It takes minutes to empty trash and make up the bed. And the washer/dryer makes towels so simple. As others have said, it's a real adjustment now when we stay in a "regular" hotel.

We love not having the daily housekeeping. In fact, we refuse the TT service as well. If for some reason we need something (trash bags, dish washer soap, etc.), we just ask a maid in the hall. They are always willing to give us what we need :) We always bring plenty of laundry soap with us, so we can wash our own towels and bedding. There really is no need for them to have to do it. They can then spend more time cleaning up after the ones who really need/want it!

We stayed in the cabins on first trip w/ DD who was 2. Every afternoon the maid would try to come in to clean, DD was always sleeping (Usually DH too  ) We only had maid service twice out of 8 days. We bought into DVC that trip, I never gave lack of maid service a second thought. As everyone else says, it saves the "stress" of worrying if we will have to leave the room or worse yet, clean up before the maid gets there. ;)

I thought I would miss the "luxury" of having someone clean my room but staying in a DVC villa it seems so much like home that I really don't want the intrusion. It is so nice to return to your villa in the middle of the day for a nap and not have to worry about a knock on the door just as you're falling asleep. It took very little adjusting for us. The only thing I miss is having someone else make the bed for me but DH has conveniently (and graciously) agreed to take over that duty on vacation ;) .

I also prefer to skip even the T&T. By the time we are scheduled for one, we've already emptied the trash and washed the towels -- several times each. I don't miss it at all.

I was a little put out by the idea, too. But I have come to love not having the maid visit every day! Like everyone is saying, it's really nice to know no one has been in the room. I like that. I don't miss it at all.

I do like coming back to a bed that's made.....we don't do it at home and I'm really quite bad at it, so its hard to get in the habit on vacation....but it is nice not ever returning to our room to find that housekeeping just got started when our 2yo needs a nap, etc....

I did find the solution to the bed-making dillemma on our last trip....bring my mom! She was happy to make our bed in exchange for her accomodations! LOL...actually we had been casually discussing the whole thing and I had mentioned that the only thing I miss about not having daily housekeeping is getting the bed made up...so she said she'd do it. I did help her, so hopefully I'll learn how to do it right eventually. Mom does a much better job than housekeeping anyway....the bed doesn't pull apart while you sleep if she's done it! Proper hospital corners are the trick, I hear.

Having it or not is irrelevent to me as regards to the room. Housekeeing in any major hotel are very good about leaving your stuff where you left it. Disney's staff in particular make coming back to the room even more interesting. They are like the cabin staff on a cruise ship. But what I like even more are the cost savings from not having the daily housekeeping.

I love NOT having daily maid service, for a lot of the same reasons already mentioned.

We seem to spend more time at Hilton Head than the WDW resorts, so we're always coming and going from the room. It's nice to not have to worry about being disturbed.

We make our beds each morning, and even have the kids make theirs. Not a big deal at all.

the only thing we miss about daily maid service is that when we come back to our room at 3 or 4 pm and there still in our room we take THAT EXTRA 1/2 HOUR WALK TILL THEY FINISH. (we really miss that walk) ha! ha!

I guess I am the only one in the group that misses the daily housekeeping. Actually my wife keeps asking what type of resort does not have daily housekeeping.

We own another time share in Aruba where the daily housekeeping not only cleans the room, but does the dishes and if you pay extra will even cook for you!

Personally I would prefer to have the daily housekeeping....

I definiteley don't miss the daily housekeeping. Last visit we splurged and had them clean an extra time after our guests left, so we had the best of both worlds - no daily intrusion but clean when we wanted it.
