If so, do you masking fluid? I'm wondering if the stuff goes bad. I've had it about 9 yrs. Last time I used it it tore the paper when I was trying to get it off. That never happened before. I appreciate any advice you might offer.

I do water color, but I never learned how to do it the right way. I don't even know what masking fluid is.

I just taught myself by looking at Japanese art from Haiku. They tend to make a different use of space that I like.

I know, Snoopy, is a real expert so she probably has some good pointers. If she happens to see this. :D

I've used masking fluid before. I have no idea if it goes bad. I guess you could just test it on a scrap piece. I never had a problem getting it off either. I remember I waited until the paper was dry to take it off.

I have used masking fluid quite a bit and it's never gone bad but I don't think I've ever had a bottle get quite 9 yrs old. Like said before, try it on a scrap piece of paper

And remember when taking it off, don't try peeling, just rub your finger back and forth over it to roll it off :) Peeling can tear

Don't know about the 9 years and if it has spoiled, but if it doesn't smell weird, hasn't discolored and is still thin enough to paint on it should be OK.

How long did you leave it on? I had to get some for school last year and remember some bottles said if they remained on the paper for more than X days (didn't get this kind, so don't remember the days) they would become permanent. Think it was something like 5 days.

If you are having problems though it might be time to replace it.

Happy art!

Thanks, all, for your replies.

Not sure how long it had been left on last time. I usually finish pretty quickly when I do paint. I wonder if maybe I didn't let the painting dry completely.

I'll try it again on a scrap. Would hate to ruin another painting!

Thanks again!
