Just reading on the Pete Werner home page that attendance has been down at the Disney Parks since 09/11, and that they expect to see them drop even more with the pending war. Just wondering if any members who have trips planned within the next few months have decided to cancel. We have a trip scheduled for Easter week - and according to the reservations we have been making, i.e., staying at VWL, wait listed for BCV and BWV; priority seating - tried to get breakfast at Cinderella's Royal table, 60 days in advance, starting at 6:45 a.m. and could only get dinner; airfare - we already have ours, but friends were unable to get anything for that week - sold out. According to everything we have seen, it looks like it is going to be an extremely busy week - as Easter usually is. Anyone changed their minds on proceeding with their upcoming trip? We plan to keep our reservations.

No, I haven't changed any plans for my trips yet. I leave in 12 days:Pinkbounc for BCV for 9 days, in June I will have a week at BWV and I have Christmas ressies at BWV. That said, what I did do was decide not to take an add-on I was offered ast OKW due to the possible war. It breaks my heart:( :( but I am not yet finished paying for one of my other contracts, so it didn't seem prudent at this time. Besides, the cost was $84 per point, no MB, and $9240 for 110 points seems like a lot. My first contract 6 years ago was 170 pts at $55=$9350, so I just didn't feel good about taking on more debt, less points for more money. I'm really down about it, though.:( I just hate those hard decisions!

We are traveling out of the country this April and have no concerns. Just be a smart traveler.

Good to hear you are keeping your reservations. Terrorist activity is meant to change our lives. Personally I do not plan to let them get me down.

We were at WDW on the 1st anniversary of 9/11. The place was very quiet. I took photos of an empty Frontierland at 9:30am. It was also very moving when at noon they observed a moment of silence.

No! We leave in 6 days for OKW and although Im a bit concerned with flying, we arent cancelling. Short of any flight restrictions, we will be there!

No changes what-so-ever. We just came back from a trip to Europe, we had several friends ask if it was wise at this time, but we had no fears. As we found out on 9/11, we aren't necessarily any safer anywhere. This is not meant to instill fear, but to live one's life running around looking for safer places is probably a futile effort, so enjoy yourself.

No, no, no cancel! We are really looking forward to this trip.

We did briefly discuss cancelling it, but decided against it and purchased our air tickets this week.

Live your life as best you can!

Absolutlety not, just check out our plans below..........
1.Vegas.............June 13-17

......so are we.

Nope. In fact, we just booked a quick trip for the end of this month a few days ago. Couldn't get either a 1 BR or a studio in ANY of the four resorts on property for the middle of the week, so we're arriving on the weekend. HAD TO GET AWAY --- TOO MUCH SNOW AND COLD WEATHER THIS YEAR!
Got the 1 BR we wanted at VWL and could have had OKW ---- what a difficult decision to make!

Not canceling a thing!!!

St. Maarten - 4/26-5/10
Rhode Island 7/21-7/27
Myrtle Beach - 8/16 - 8/23 (and hopefully a few days before at Hilton Head)
WDW - VWL 11/28-12/3
Carnival Cruise - 1/1-1/4

And if I can convince my hubby
Vistana Pt. St. Lucie and a 7 day Disney Cruise in April, 2004!!

Do I feel guillty with our men and women over seas? Kind of, but they would want us to go on with our lives. After 9/11 we flew about 3 weeks after, then again in early November out of the country. I was very nervous, but figured that is what the terrorists wanted, so we kept to our plans, though we did cancel WDW for New Years 12/01, just wasn't comfortable. Not sure why but wasn't.

I will never let those terrorists "win", so no, I won't change my Vero vacation in May, and it certainly won't affect my VWL vacation in December.:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Nope, trip stay as is, just gonna add war to the never ending list of potential dangers that we face every time we fly, drive, walk, sleep - ete. When was anyone 100% safe?

Cant stop living - Just be more aware and adapt when needed

We went ahead with our WDW travel plans two weeks after 9/11 took place.

We're going to be at the VWL in June. I wouldn't consider canceling, but I wouldn't chastise anyone who does. Everyone has to decide what they're comfortable with.

Not here. However, we just had friends cancel their first trip to WDW due to the husband being activated.

No way would we cancel as long as the planes are still flying!

We flew 10 days after 9/11 (went with husband to San Antonio for a business trip). We are flying next week to Vegas (business again).

Going to Disneyworld in May and September/October at the VWL, and probably back to Hawaii in January or February 2004! We always say if God wants to take us, he will (of course, my husband also says I hope I'm not with the other guy when its his time to go!) ha

Nope, no plans to cancel at this time - trip to WDW is in December. I had flown in and out of Reagan airport in Washington DC two months before 9/ll and once in 2002 (that was a little scary) and to Puerto Rico since then, plus took a cruise to Mexico in December. So, no, I am not letting the terrorists inhibit my traveling. If I could afford it and had the time, I'd be off and traveling all the time. :bounce:

We just got back last night after six days in WDW. I've never seen so many Disney security guards around the park....
I figured the lack of crowds had something to do with the possibility of a war, but I personally never considered cancelling my trip.

On the flight to MCO, I was nervous at takeoff, but that was only because it was snowing pretty hard in Milwaukee at the time! Boy, was it nice to take off in a snowstorm, but land in sunshine and warmth!!

No, we are not cancelling our trip either, I will NOT live in fear, if I do, then the terrorist win.

I am NOT going to cancel anything!

I have a WDW trips scheduled over Easter, another one in June, another one in August to tie into DCI finals and another one in December

In addition, I have a trip to TN for another DCI show in July.

ALL these trips are by plane and I already have my plane tickets bought for all of them.

I flew a few weeks after 9-11 and yes, I was a tad afraid ( I was flying alone) but I got on that plane. My dad fought in WWII and he would not have wanted his service to go to waste. He fought for my freedom and I am going to take FULL advantage of it!

I don't think many who frequent Internet Disney forums will be the ones cancelling. However I do think many people who do not use the Internet to plan vacations ( they do exist ) will cancel or not plan a trip at all.

There was a photo in the Friday edition of USA Today of an empty Epcot parking lot and how attendance was definitely down.
