Anyone Can Cook... Has Anyone Done It?

Really curious about this activity on the ship.
My DDs love to cook, and I'm terrible, so we can all have fun and I can learn.
Anyone have any experience with it? Is it offered more than once? My DDs are 5 and 3.

Anyone can cook is an adults only activity. You don't do any cooking, you sit and watch the chef. Afterwards you get to eat what the chef cooked. They usually have a couple of them on the 7 night cruises, a main course and a dessert. I enjoyed the one that I went to. They have cooking activities for kids in the Oceaneer's lab, but it's for the kids only. My dd made cookies. I don't know of any cooking activities you could do together on the ship. Some port excursions have cooking activities.

There's is anyone can cook in the Oceaneer lab, and is often offered during Open House times, so you can all go along together to that one.
One is 'making' cookies and the other decorating cup cakes. It's a fun/silly activity, but you won't learn anything.

Anyone Can Cook is a demonstration of cooking and is always paired with a wine choice. Samples of what the chef is demonstrating is put on everyone's table along with a wine pairing (no choice, they pick the wine).

I have seen it listed as adults only and sometimes not.

A copy of the recipe is also handed out. On a 7 day cruise or longer there are usually at least 3 of these sessions....app, entree, dessert.

I did the kids club open house and we decorated cup cakes. It was fun. "Anyone can cook."

Glad to see I was wrong about it being adult only. When we did it, it was listed as adults only. My dd isn't old enough for vibe or edge so I'm not familiar with their activities.

I think people may be talking about two different events.....the Anyone Can Cook demo in DLounge and the Anyone can cook activity in Edge/Vibe. The one in DLounge you do not cook, you watch. Sometimes they pull a volunteer from the audience to assist the chef.

We've only ever did the apple struddles(?) twice and it's not at all what we expected you just watch the chef there is no hands on at all. At the end they hand out a sample. And it was for the family. Would love to the do the pizza or cupcakes

From looking at some Navigators it seems that the classic ships have it limited to Adults Only, and the Dream/Fantasy have it as 'fun for all ages'. So I'd check out some old navigators to see what it has been on your type of cruise. And yes, the kids'/tween/teen clubs have their own cooking classes for kids only or if it's during open house anyone can attend. DD13 made pizza in Edge. Dd17 made smoothies in Vibe.

Believe me you won't...Don't follow what they 'teach' you or you won't get good cookies.
It's done with a 'chef' who's never been to the galley, then it goes 1 spoon of flour, 1 spoon of brown sugar, 1 spoon of egg, etc, mix it together, put it all in one bowl, send it to the 'magic oven' and then about a minute later cookies arrive haha!

I enjoy it enough to try to never miss it. I did the one in the D-Longe and all ages were welcome. When the Chef made lobster ravioli he even gave us little wine samples. DH and my parents didn't want theirs so they passed them down to me. Everything is delicious and it's entertaining. If you don't usually like watching cooking demonstrations it's possible that you might not care for it.

A little off-topic, but if your cruise includes a stop at Nassau, you might want to do the chocolate tour. You go to the Greycliff hotel take a short tour of their chocolate kitchen, and then get to make chocolates of your own. Delicious, and fun for the whole family!

We have been on four transatlantic cruises and this is a highlight for us. They offer most everyday during the crossing and we never miss it!

We've done this once. we watched a chef and then got a recipe and got a sample. we are not cooking. it was a family activity (or anyone can go) but now i believe it's kids only -in the kids area.

There are both adult and kids versions of Anyone Can Cook. On two transatlantic cruises on the Magic, there was a series of adult presentations in the D Lounge with recipes and the food and wine samples on each of the sea days.

Apparently it is not always paired with wine. We just got off the Fantasy yesterday. My wife did one of the Anyone Can Cook demonstrations and was disappointed that they did not offer any wine pairing.

We have done the family version with cookies. Gotta love the magic oven! It was fun though! And the kids got hats
