Anyone buy the 10 day non-exp ticket over the AP?

I think I have figured out how to make the most of DVC discount AP's and non-expire tickets with plusses.
I'll buy a premium AP this year, have husband buy a non-expire ticket with plusses.
Next year I buy the 10 day non-expire and husband buys a regular AP and will use his plusses from last years ticket purchase.
The third year we both buy regular AP's.

That way we can still get the DDE and after the first few years we can both buy regular AP's and just use our non-expire plusses. We only go to water parks once on each trip, so should last 5 years!

This is a great way to do it. Thanks for your insight!

We have found the AP to be the best way to go if we do three trips in 12 months. The last time we had AP's we also got the DDE card and the savings at the restaurants certain made it worth the expense. Two of the three trips were for F&W and so we were sometimes headed to EPCOT just for eating and drinking ! I always feel like I am wasting a day on a regular pass just to enter the parks for dinner. This took that 'guilt' feeling away and it that was important to me.

I really like the 'alternating' idea. Passes some years and AP's others to save.

One more thing regarding the accuracy of the finger scans....

We had heard...could just be a rumour but makes sense....that during the very busy park entry times, they will sometimes 'turn off' the scan recognition feature to keep the lines moving.

Our last park trip we exchanged tickets during the busy times as a test...and were never stopped. During less busy times we were stopped.

Two years ago, I had all 8 tickets in my fanny pack. They were bought at the same time. I handed them out on day 2 at the gate, we all entered with no problem. My married son said," what do you think the odds are that you handed all of us the correct ticket from the first day?" The scan had to be off, even though the light changed colors. It was the Fri after Thanksgiving, so I would say a busy time of year.

We buy 10 day non expiry passes with one of us having a AP to be able to get the benefits that go with the AP. I do not automatically renew the AP, I wait until we are going again, then purchase it.

alternatively, as a mod wrote on this thread, if tickets are bought at the same time then they are linked in the computer...:confused3

I current hold about 28 tickets.. most with just water park -plus- days left of them, and I often mix up our tickets between my three kids and DH and I. Last trip my DH was stopped at the gate because his print didn't match.. When I showed them all our tickets they waved us through. No worries.

And as you can see from the above, we are 10 day No expire ticket buyers ourselves. I think I have 10 of them with just water park plus's left on them that we will use once all the kids are tall enough to do all the slides at the Water parks.

They do cost MORE upfront than AP's but we get 2 or 3 trips at the Parks with them and now have a stash of Plus's to use on future no park trips :-)

It just never ceases to amaze me to what I learn each day or week on the dis. I have tickets for one of my adult children, that I have bought ( that do not travel to Disney like we do) That have just become Mine!!! I had really started writing names on the back of the tickets.

I do know that the scan works for the AP holder. I have stood there until it did.
