Anyone buy the 10 day non-exp ticket over the AP?

After this year's AP, I plan to buy a 10 day pass. By then my ds will be 9. Can anyone confirm with me that if I buy him a child 10 day no expiration pass, he'll still be able to use it at 10, or 11, or 12?

Thanks

We go to WDW once a year. We bought our 10-day no expire tickets + options for our Dec 2005 trip. We still have 2 days on them. We bought another set of 10-day no expire tickets + options this August before the price increase so we should be set for another few years. The AP just doesn't make money sense for us and our vacation style.

I just bought both an AP and 3 10 day no expiration tickets. The AP is for me. I know I will be going more than 10 days total within the time I first use my ticket. My family, however, will not so I got 10 day no exp. for them.

We bought the 10 day no exp with PLUS options. We're only sure we're going for five days next year, but there's a chance we'll go a second time with my family. If that works out, I'd be really irritated at having to buy a second pass for those two or three days. So I thought I'd head that off buy buying the 10-day and knowing it'll last us two or three trips. And the plusses will last us a really long time, since I'm only willing to go to water parks between May and September!

As I just posted on another thread, we have never gone for longer than a 5 day stretch more than once a year, so the Annual pass is not useful to us. We purchase Non-Expiry passes at the beginning of every trip that our previous passes are used up.

I was thinking...(I know, sounds dangerous doesn't it???). :rolleyes1 yep, here she goes again..! anyhow,

Since I plan to buy DVC and go to disney every year (or every other year, sometimes maybe twice per year!), and (all of) my immeidate family will not come with me every trip (hopefully! :scared:), since everyone is gettin' older, busy lives, no money, and all that, do you think it would be a good idea to buy them the 10 day non-expiring hoppers with (10) plus options?

I mean, that ticket can be stretched to anywhere from 3 to 5 vacations! And, non-expiring means that if someone takes a long hiatus from doing disney, they will be there for them forever.

Each person could do 3-4 park days (use "hop" option), a water park day and a PI or DQ day, and a resort day for like 3 - 4 vacations, right? (plus price is locked in for awhile until someone needs a new ticket).

My family is two teens, my grown DD and our three g-kids, my Disney sister, and my DH).

It is an awful up front cost the year it's purchased, but for the next couple of DVC vacations, it's "like" having no ticket cost and no resort cost (don't ya think?)
thanks,

We have done this, too. We have 10 day park hopper non expiring tickets for all of the nieces and nephews as well as my mom. Normally DH uses them, too, and I have an AP (to get the DDE card.) I actually keep an inventory spreadsheet of the cards, whose they are, and how many days are left on each! It's the only way to be sure eveyone has the tickets they need when they go with us.

Yes! I need to create an inventory spreadsheet our out ticket media!
I wish DVC would just give us a break and let us pay our entry for the parks with our dues. It would be so much easier and they would have income that they could count on.

Of course that entry with dues would need to be beneficial to both members and Disney! Say, $275 a year for adults. No more vouchers, no more renewals, no more of these %^&#(*^% calculations that some of us (me) do when (over) analyzing the cost to get into the parks.:scared1:

Yes. Disney doesn't penalize you for growing older. You can exchange the ticket for an adult ticket which will have the same number of days remaining and they won't charge you anything extra.

That would be nice. I'm not holding my breath, though.....

So just to be clear, we could use any waterparks and more options that we did not use on our used up tickets! If we do not remember how many left over waterpark options there are is there any way of finding out? We purchased AP's for this year, are there blackout dates?

in my travels across the DIS, i vaguely remember reading something about how the computers supposedly "group" ticket purchases in some cases. so if a family of 4 buys 4 tickets, any of the 4's fingerprints will work for any of the 4 tickets...better to verify this in the "theme park" forums, though...

This would be nice if it were true. Does anyone know? Then we wouldn't have to worry about who has which ticket (especially since next year we are splitting up with relatives, and I would hate if my twins mixed up their tickets because they won't be together at the parks).

As long as you purchased a non-expiring option for your tickets, everything on your ticket is non-expiring. So if you buy a 10 day Water Park & More Non Expiring ticket and used up all park days, your ticket will still hold all your water park days until they're used up. I still have 2 tickets I bought in 2001 with water park options on them, and we use them each trip!

You can go to the concierge desk at any WDW resort and they can scan your ticket and tell you what you have left on it.

As long as your tickets are not Florida resident seasonal passes, there are no black out dates.

Thanks for the info, I remembered that we did not purchase the non-expiry option on the tickets, but really good to know for next time.

No it doesn't work that way. The first time you use the passes, your index finger is scanned and that pass now only recognizes you. So once you activate them, each family member has to have their correct pass. (except for childrens passes. They don't scan kids )

I'm not sure how accurately the scanner detects fingerprints. My DH and I rotated between 3 adult passes so that at the end of our trip each would have 5 days remaining on it (DBIL wasn't there for entire trip so the pass we bought for him would have had 7 days remaining if left untouched). I know it's 6 of one and 1/2 a dozen of the other but we wanted to know that each adult pass had the same number of days left on it. Anyway, when we used "his" pass, the finger print scanner did not stop us and say we weren't the original user.

I was thinking about doing this. We go once per year and always at the same time over Christmas so an AP just doesn't work out. Plus, to my way of thinking, if we get a 10 day non-expiring park hopper plus (we love to park hop) then even after the park days are used up we'll probably still have more water park visits left on the ticket.

Ok! I don't want to sound stupid, but what is the 10 day pass that everyone is talking about, opposed to the Annual Passport?

Thanks

Annual pass= 365 day admission $370? (can't remember the price)

10 day pass = 10 days admission $450

Sounds strange, right? Well, if you only go into the parks a couple of days on your visit, that 10 day pass will last 5 or so trips. And that price includes park hopping and 7 plusses (water parks or Disney Quest) which can be 1 or 2 of those per trip. An annual pass will only last 1 year. We do use the AP every few years or so.

I think I have figured out how to make the most of DVC discount AP's and non-expire tickets with plusses.
I'll buy a premium AP this year, have husband buy a non-expire ticket with plusses.
Next year I buy the 10 day non-expire and husband buys a regular AP and will use his plusses from last years ticket purchase.
The third year we both buy regular AP's.

That way we can still get the DDE and after the first few years we can both buy regular AP's and just use our non-expire plusses. We only go to water parks once on each trip, so should last 5 years!

DIS !!!!! - No comments on this? could this be true? I haven't thought of all the ins and outs of this - (so is the finger scan fake?), transferring a pass? Come on you guys, say something!! Anything!!
