Hi Guys,

Just wondering how late anyone has left it to book their flights for specific dates for a family?!

I'm looking at booking thru dreams unlimited for next august, with park tickets and dining plan - my kind agent, Marla, informed me that the package prices aren't out til the new year.

The fllight only prices aren't out til next month, but fly drives are way over the top price wise. So I started looking at flights/fly drives for ideas of cost for the next couple of weeks. I found that seats were readily available and the price was unbelievably low!

e.g. first choice from east midlands on a tues for 2 ad 2 ch was around 1200, thomson from doncaster was 1400 (diff dates though), globespan from glasgow was 800 economy, 1000 prem economy and they fly most days.

So, am I being silly thinking of leaving it til late, maybe end july beg aug 07 for departure of mid august??

Any advice would be much appreciated!!

Cheers

Lynn

Can't really help with your question I only know that I want things booked asap, had my Oct 07 trip booked since May this year. I would be panicking about not getting what I wanted otherwise. Good luck with your decision.

If I already had my accommodation booked I would be worried about not getting matching dates.

Can't help with the flight only thing, but on a side note, we ended up booking our entire holiday just 13-days before departure, and we got the flights we wanted and pretty near close to the seats we wanted too! :goodvibes

Personally I would jump in now - those prices are really good. Would book myself cos our holiday list at work only comes out just before Christmas.

we booked 2 days before
it was a cheap flight that came up
and we were able to get great AP rates by phoning disney direct
but then we can be felixable with our holiday dates

it can be very streefull watching flight prices ALL the time :surfweb:
but then if you have a choice of airports to keep an eye on , we have only one
you can cancal disney room only up to 5 days before and you only pay 1 night depoist , not to sure about packages

I booked for a week in May, was very much a last minute idea. Checked for free phone numbers on teletext and phoned a couple of companies till I found the cheapest flights leaving in two weeks. However, apart from being bound by a 13 day "window" it was kind of an ad-on holiday so if I didn't get dates that I wanted we weren't going.

:)

Think it depends how fussy you are. If you don't mind where you stay and who you fly with, then you will always find SOME last minute deal to Orlando at a great price :)

If you are adament about where you want to stay, in which room type and/or who you want to fly with, then you are a lot better booking a reasonable time beforehand.

We have two big holidays a year (one skiing in January/Feb, one "Summer Holiday" normally in July but in October this year). In general, we do not book the next holiday until the previous one has finished - so normally we book 6 months in advance. We tend to find that is plenty of time to secure what we want... :). We would find booking too much in advance too difficult - because it is often difficult to tell exactly what we would be doing in 12/18 months...

Different things suit different people :)

Thanks guys,

I'm not sure if I could hold my water til last minute to book the flights!! Thinking of booking thru dreams after xmas with AP hoping for discount and maybe free dining if we're lucky!

When you compare the prices for flight early booking against the late prices it is very tempting, mind you so are the standard globespan costs so could always book well in advance and still get a good price. I'd also get car hire seperate.

A couple of years ago we were due to land at MCO right in the middle of Hurricane Frances, on a Saturday afternoon in early September. I phoned dialaflight.com on the Thursday and they found me loads of flights going on the Sunday or Monday from all over the country at good prices.

In the end though, because we were flying scheduled and not charter the airline company, (Martinair), just put the whole passenger list on different flights. They obviously had the availability to do this quite easily so there must have been loads of space.

Don't rule out flying to Miami or Fort Myers and driving. You'll always get there.

Hi Graeme,

thanks for the reply. we were there during hurricane frances - stuck in our hotel room for that saturday! You're also about 12 miles away from me up the A19!

Cheers
