Anyone book Member Homecoming this morning?

Duh! I'm so already in Christmas mode, and I'm far too ready for my road trip to Hilton Head next week to even observe the correct date. My bad!!!! Thanks, Battleship Bob, for being so kind to discreetly remind me rather than blast me for being a goofball!!!

I will be calling.

DH & I tossed the idea around for the last couple of days. Even though we have AP's we are planning on it. We celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary on 6/4/04. So, this is going to be our treat to ourselves. Something we rarely do.

Even more rare will be that we will be taking DS9 & DS3 (then 4) to the Cubs Den at VWL. Something we have NEVER done -- very seldomly since they were born have we even left them with a sitter. We're a bit apprehensive but are looking forward to having some time alone.

So, who else will be there?

Just booked two "Member Homecoming" packages for my wife and I. Was a little humorous, as this was the first MH package the MS CM had done - I could hear him reading the screens as he went page by page. Very nice, very professional. Little bit of a wait all 3 times: ringing to get MS main menu, ringing to get "which ressie" MS menu, ringing to get MS CM.

So, I guess that this puts DW and me at the head of the "Suckers on Parade", for all those who think this is an overpriced rip-off ;) . That's OK - we'll have a great time anyway.

I will be curious to hear how sales are going....

Put me right behind you on the "suckers on parade". My husband and I are all booked. It took about 15 minutes, but the CM explained to me that they are using a brand new booking system that they were just trained on. I didn't mind, she was very nice and friendly.

This will be an extra special trip for us......it will be our 2 year "Married at Disney" Anniversary AND our new baby's very first trip. Sure, I was there twice while pregnant but that doesn't really count!!

Add us to the list too.

It was a strange call as the CM at MS was very uncertain as to exactly what to do.

DrT, I think it's expensive but if I was going to be down there, I'd be the sucker standing next to you. (I think it's when you get into the family of 4 or more that the cost becomes a little overwhelmng -- $1,000-$1,200 is a bit steep.)

Can't wait to hear how great it is!!!

Since I was one of the Member Cruise "suckers" how can I resist being a Homecoming "sucker?" ;) :teeth:

We're in. The timing is perfect. We honestly didn't think that the entire family would be able to vacation together for a very long time. I think that's what I'm most excited about, and having the special events will make it even more memorable.

What a perfect 25th Anniversary celebration it will be for DH and myself.:D :D :D :D

Another Sucker!!!! Just spent my 15 minutes on the phone with MS. We're looking forward to this unplanned get-away!

Here's the thing...I think the Homecoming is a great idea. However, I already have huge plans for Dec 04, using most of my available points.

Had we known about this event sooner, it's possible I might have been able to work things around and maybe attend. Hopefully if this happens in the future, members might get more than 5 months notice on it considering a lot of us use that 11 month window.

I am sooo bummed we cant make it... I even toyed with the idea of join to it alone, but cant bear to leave my kids again.... for a while aways....

Have fun... it will be blast!

The idea that this event is "cost prohibative" is realtive to the individual. I have family and friends (we probably all do) who think nothing of dropping this kind of money on a dinner and a night out. Am I going? No. Will Disney fill this event with 4,000 people who see this a chance for something special? Without a doubt.:D

We're in! DH called and ordered this morning. I was able to change our dates and resorts a couple of days ago so there are still rooms available. We were also on the Member Cruise and had a wonderful time.

What I don't understand is that some feel the need to put others down because they are participating. A few are the same ones that bashed the Member Cruise and I feel that we more than got our money's worth - and yes I'm well aware that we paid for it. Same here - it is a special event. It will appeal to some and they will pay for it. It will not appeal to others and they won't.

Exactly!!!

That's why I (sarcastically) used the phrase "Parade of Suckers"; there are some folks out there who aren't content to say "It's too expensive / not worth the price for me" - they have to say "It's too expensive / not worth the price for anyone".

I'm willing to bet that, when it comes to the premium paid for on-site vs. off-site (hotel or timeshare), they are among the first to justify it with "but I feel part of the Disney Magic!"

Now I finally understand why Resort Bashing Threads really annoy a lot of people....

Right on DrTomorrow! The funny thing is Disney can promote something like the Haunted Halloween Ball and charge $90 or $100 and not very many people bat an eye. Those that want to go will gladly pay and have a good time. But add DVC to the mix and there is a group that expect it to be handed to them on a silver platter.

Why are people shocked that this is to be paid for by those going. If it was cheaper it would mean that DVC itself is footing the bill and all that really means is that everyone is via their dues. I would think more people would be upset with that.

If the events listed didn't sound like fun we would never have changed our dates or ordered our tickets. It was our choice and we do so freely. Same thing with the Member Cruise. We changed some things around so we could go and we had a great time.

Honestly I think some people just like to complain. If that is what brings them joy so be it. I find it very sad. I get joy out of enjoying things not complaining.

And to anyone who is disgusted with DVC over this - I've got the name of a great resale agent!

Add us to the "suckers" list - we'll be the suckers having a great time at the parties in May. Hope to see many DIS'ers there!
