I haven't seen anyone post about the luau in a long time. Has anyone ever been?? Is it worth the $$? How long does the show last? What exactly do you get to see? Would it be worthwhile for a family with a 10 and 8 yr old?

Thanks!

Aloha,
We have not been to the luau there, but I would be very interested in hearing what they serve at a luau in Florida. Graduation season is almost here and that means we will get invites to luaus almost for every weekend. But I would imagine they are a little different at RPH.

I would like to know, too. I heard they are going to start having the luau on Fridays as well as Saturdays starting in May. Is the luau worth the money? What do they serve and is it good? :scratchin

I am also interested in the lua. On the thread with the links to the half off certificates, it states they are starting the lua on fridays also. This is the only night we could attend, so I called the hotel and also the dining reservations number. Both places state that the lua is only on Saturday nights and they are not adding a friday night. So now I am hesitant to buy the dining certificates since we will not be there on a Saturday night. Any other phone numbers I could try???

thanks, lori

Bumping again, because I just made reservations & would love to know anything besides what the girl on the phone said.
:)

I am getting a little concerned over the lack of response to this thread. I am considering the 1/2 price GC for the luau, but no one is responding to these questions. WASSUP?

And it was fun. Corny but fun. Molokai Gram, I am so excited to experience a real luau. We fly off to Maui on May 8th. Can't wait.

I am surprised no one here has been to the Luau. I swear I remember reading a trip report or something about it somewhere. We can keep hoping someone knows something. I too would like to get in on the 1/2 price GC if I can find more information.

Im going to pose this question on the Resorts thread and see if the response is better.

Aloooooooha!! Actually I'd be interested in learning more about the luau. Some years ago we went to a real luau in Oahu.....it was lovely......we were lei'd as we walked down the steps of the plane, lei'd in the reception of our lovely hotel on Waikiki Beach and lei'd again at the luau - lots of hula hula and we joined in then a guy in a loin cloth climbed one of the trees and shook it so all the coconuts fell down. There were long tables and a whole pig was roasting over a spit. Free jugs of punch were served all-you-can-drink.......it was an experience........the sunset that evening was wonderful too...........as far as the RPR goes - if they can capture any of that, it will be worth it!!!:D

My daughter and I went to the luau last Aug. It was supposed to be held outside but due to a storm, it was held inside the conference center.

It lasted about an hour and a half. There was a gentleman who narrated the story and then the dancers danced to the story. I thought it was nice but it's not something I would do every year. The storm cleared and we were able to go outside and watch the guy with the fire batons.

The food was pretty good. Though they did serve an entire roasted pig that freaked my 12 yr old DD out lol

Thank's for the reply Pooh Girl 71. Anyone else been to the luau???

To be honest we wanted to do this in march but because they only do it on a saturday we never tried it as it was Mardi -Gras I think they would get more people going if they held it a couple nights say fri/sat it sounds pretty good :jester:

HI

did a little search and i found this reply from jessicar from 2003

i'm thinking of getting the certificates but maybe i better call first and make a PS- it would be horrible if i got the certificates for this and the laua was all booked up at the time we will be there:(

Hubby and I have been wanting to try the luau since they started it. The outside area they do it in is very nice. The roasted pig and the rest of the menu sounds absolutely wonderful.

I would say try it, for sure. The food at RPR has always been very good, I am sure this would be nice also.
