Trying to figure out how to get there from London. There is a ferry from Portsmouth, England, or we can take the Eurostar to Paris then a bus? Train? Struggling to figure it out

We went to Normandy a few years ago. We took the train to Paris and then rented a car to go to Normandy. We stayed in an airbnb in the area that was really nice and were able to drive to several of the beaches and sites. We just wanted to see more than you could do on a tour. We also went to Monet's gardens on our way. Oh and I do remember that the toll roads were quiet pricey.

We were there in August. We flew to Paris. It was cheaper and faster than the train. IIRC it was around 68 Euro pp incl 1 bag and choice of seating while booking. This was on British Airways. There were We were trying to cram a LOT into a few days so we hired a private tour guide.

He picked us up at our hotel at 7 am and dropped us back off at 7:30pm. It's shame it rained that day and I was slipping and sliding in the mud walking to Pointe du Hoc. We did get to visit the Normandy American Cemetery, Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, and the Airborne museum in Sainte Mere Eglise which was just phenomenal. (This was option 2 in the link above.)
We were scheduled to visit Utah beach but by then the rains were pouring down sideways and none of us wanted to get out of the car. It was fine though; it gave us more time in the museum. It was a lot to fit into one day and it would have been nice to spend 2 more days there but we said that about everywhere we went. (London, Paris, DLP) No regrets here!! Ds21 is already saying he wants to go back. :hyper:

Can you drive? If so that would probably be the easiest way. The Eurotunnel (not to be confused with the Eurostar) transports cars across the Channel. You drive your car onto a train at Folkestone and drive off at Calais in France.

You could also fly/ get the Eurostar and then rent a car if you’d rather not drive long distances. In the UK we drive on the left, but in France like you it’s on the right. Using public transport would be quite difficult if you want to go to more remote places.
