Hi, I'm going to disney world on the 28 and staying through march 6. i was planning on going to MK on Tues. b/c SpectroMagic is that night, but I looked on this board yesterday and someone said that the crowds were insaine on a Saturday spectro night. I thought about it and I know that MK is always more crowded on weekends and I do beleive that that person went during President's week (but i'm not sure) Has anyone been to the MK during a spectromagic night on a Tuesday and during a moderate but not peak crowd time? It's just that if the crowds are too bad I don't think SpectroMagic would be enough for me to fight them. Thanks yall.
Ash

We will arrive in the world Feb 24 and plan on going to the SpectroMagic parade. Last year I went on a tues. night and it was fine. If you watch it around Frontier Land it is much less crowded or In Liberty Square near the bridge.

We were at MK last May on a Tuesday when Spectro was showing that night. It was a zoo. Small World had lines out into the walkway at noon, Peter Pan was 50 minutes. We left and came back in the evening just to see Spectro. This wasn't the first time that happened to us on a weekday. My advice would be to go to a different park and just go to MK in the evening (assuming you have a park hopper).

It's probably not fair of me to respond as I haven't been, but I'm planning to go on a Tuesday, the first week of May. As I've looked at others post, I've decided that the busiest day of the week at MK varies depending on what time of the year you go.

I would ask for others to comment, butwhat I've read suggests that as long as the kids are in school, MK won't be too busy on a Tuesday.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are usually good for MK but as I posted above it was a disaster last May because Spectro was running that night. It happened to us another time in December, I think on a Wednesday, again Spectro was running that night. We returned on Thursday (no Spectro that night) and lines were low. Many on vacation at WDW plan to go to MK that day because Spectro is running that night. I wasn't the only one who noticed this, there were many posts about that Tuesday last May and the crowds.

I do have a park hopper. i think i'll just go to mk another night instead of tuesday. i know i'm going that sunday and then the following sat too but it's my favorite park. thanks for the replies.

I have both last year and this one been at the Tues Spectro the day after MLK.

The crowds were bigger than any other day that week including EMH and MLK itself. They were still small compared to the summer or other busy times.

I recommend you go late in the afternoon for Spectro and leave the rest of the park for another day. It worked for us.

That was my post. It was the week prior to Presidents week, the Friday prior crowds were light. I think it all depends on the crowds THAT particular day.

Well I'll let you know when I get back because we plan to try it next Tuesday.... that's Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday to boot! I think with Fast Pass we can manage the crowds. We did a Sat. Spectro one year in early Feb. when it was only showing on Sats and it was doable. We have PS for lunch and dinner (Plaza and LTT) so we can get off our feet to eat and rest. Spectro will be showing twice next week but we want to do Illuminations on our last night at WDW so it's Tues. or no Spectro for us.

We watched it from Frontierland and that Dragon float did open it's wings. I don't know if they were all the way but it was enough to impress us. We only had to line up 30 min. prior. for a front row.

I have seen Spectromagic on a Tuesdaynight about 2 weeks ago and the crowds were okay. We went to see it the Saturday before, but that night the rain was so bad that they cancelled both Spectromagic and Wishes.
So it was rather amazing that the crowds were not bigger on Tuesday.
By the way I think that MK is allways crowded compared to the other parcs. More small children around in strollers.

We went into mk about 5pm on that Sat, never made it beyond main street hub and yes it was crowded, but not enough to watch the flag ceremony, shop a little and get a great bench in front of the castly, watch cindy's surprise, 2 spectro's and wishes. Then shop on our way out for about 40 mins and get on the first akl bus that showed up. We had spent the day in epcot and saw practically no one. My suggestion for a tuesday based on that...if you get there and its crowded switch parks and come back later in the evening, it won't be that bad that you can't enjoy the parade and wishes. It was so packed after the 1st spectro it took me 25 mins round trip from the castle to the bathrooms in tomorrowland, I can't imagine it will be nearly that bad when you are there. I'd go with your plans and just be prepared to slightly alter if necessary. Or just plan on going to a different park for that day and come in later, but I really don't think you'll need it.

When we visited last June the pattern was similar -Spectro only ran on Wednesdays and Saturdays. We did the Wednesday night viewing. Although it was "regular season" and the crowds were relatively small thourghout the days, the crowd at MK that night was epic. We watched Spectro and fireworks from the CP side of the circle in front of the castle and it was just shoulder to shoulder tgrying to get out. At one point I was really conderned about my 5yo getting trampled.
We are going back in a few weeks and Spectro is only on a Tuesday (while we are there). I will either come up with a new strategy or skip it. I am thinking of trying to watch Spectro from somewhere in Frontierland then leave and come back to catch Wishes another night.

I was at MK on Tuesday, Feb 10. Crowds weren't bad in the morning, but by afternoon it was very busy. Small World was a wait of 25 minutes, and Peter Pan was 45 minutes. If you have to go to MK on Spectro night, then plan on heavy touring in the am, and easy touring in the pm. Definitely crowds will be lighter in Frontierland to watch the parade. It was shoulder to shoulder at the hub in front of the castle.

I was just there on Tuesday February 3rd... and for some reason the MK was PACKED on Monday the 2nd.. and also very crowded on the 3rd... More so than the other days.... We still got to ride with minimal waits.. but waited a bit too long to go back to main street to get a spot for Spectro.. when we got there almost an hour before there were NO curb spots left.. I did not expect that at this "slow" time.. but this was also the first time Spectro was showing for almost 2 weeks.... but even so.. it was not as crowded as some Saturdays.. I did notice that it was significantly less crowded waiting for the parade in Liberty Square.. If you do NOT want to see Spectro.. I would avoid the MK on Tuesday... and if you do want to see it.. come back later in the afternoon and choose a spot in the back lands if you don't want to wait too long...

Just my 2 cents!

We were there Tues Feb 3 for Spectro and it was chaos. People climbing over fences, strollers rolling over feet, lots of pushing and shoving and ugly comments.

However, it had rained the previous Sat night and Spectro was cancelled, so that may have had some impact.

Unless others in my family insist, I won't go to Spectro again.

Wow, a lot of differnt experiences here. I think I may stop by and see how the crowds are but if they are too bad just hop to another park. Thanks for the replies!

Ok, we were planning to go to Spectro next Tuesday (March 2) but this and the other thread have made me think it's better to wait until the kids are older, to handle the crowds.

So that's 5 fewer people that night -- hope that helps!
