There was a discussion on here on comfortable sandals to wear and a few people said they had bought them and were wearing that at WDW in June. If anyone has worn them, please post how they were for long walking in the parks.

i just bought some of those and have found them to be very comfortable wearing around town and stuff but havent tried them walking around for that much time. i hope they are comfortable...

Just my humble opinion here but, If you are going to wear them * and this applies to any shoe-
DO NOT, I repeat: DO NOT "save them" for your trip. Get them out of that closet and start walking, walking walking.

All footwear MUST be broken in prior to a trip to WDW.
If not, you might not be risking *life* but certainly *limb*-- is a foot a limb or just the leg it is attatched to?..... HMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm

If you have a minute (or hour) check out this site, hosted by one of the disboard families: www.badshoe.com.
Then you will understand!

I agree with this advice 110%.

I wore the Earth Shoe sandals with the enclosed toe (that I've had for 2-3 years) and they were fine. They weren't quite as comfortable as the Danko's I wear at work, but much more theme park friendly. I would definitely get your saved pair out and start wearing them to break them in. IMHO, they're great park shoes.

Ok..I did not mean litterally save them just for the trip..I was meaning to break them in beforehand....I walk all the time at work and I am planning on wearing them for a couple of weeks before the trip...

Thanks for the caring messages..but they will be broken in. I am wearing one pair now and by early August they will be worn out and I will wear the others..most sandals do not hold up well to a lot of walking in them...they wear out faster than sneakers do...:sunny:

I bought a pair of the Earth shoes that look like Tevas. I wore them for 11 days at Universal/WDW last summer. They were WONDERFUL!!! I never got any blisters and my feet weren't nearly as tired as when I wear tennis shoes. I'm wearing them again on our upcoming trip.

Ya'll do know that if you have to break in a shoe you are buying the wrong kind of shoes??? It they hurt when you try them on then they are the wrong shoe!!!! (Sorry...I was in the shoe business Toooo long)

Well from personal experience, I have bought shoes that fit and felt fine in the store, but after wearing them a few times, I got a blister on my toe from them. I agree with the others, if your going to go with new shoes, wear them some before you go to WDW.

I bought some last year, I wore them all over Las Vegas, on my 7 day cruise and this year on our cruise and WDW. One day at AK it rained so hard and we were soaked, my shoes dried overnight with no problem. I Love my shoes!

They are "Gelron 2000 Earth Shoe." this is what it says on the heel part of the shoe. I had bought 2 pairs and one of the WONDERFUL Puppies I have, ate the left one, along with my Lift, so I am on my last pair!

Are these sandals or laced-up shoes? I've seen some posts of people talking about tevas -- I thought those were a kind of sandal with adjustable straps... ? Aren't sandals hard on your feet to wear all day walking around?

Sounds like I might have to go and hunt down a pair of these Earth Shoes and give them a try.

I agree with Mumm4jenn, good shoes shouldn't need to be 'broken in'. The materials should already be flexible enough in the areas that flex. However wearing them before hand to ensure they don't cause problems is a smart idea since you can't duplicate hours of use in a store fitting, especially if you're buying shoes at a discount store where the precision of construction is usually the last concern of the manufacturer.

FWIW, we only wear New Balance walking shoes since NB is the only company that has a full range of widths. (We're not sandals type of people). We also only wear Thorlos in the parks. We've not had blisters or hotspots since finding this combination.

My life of shoe wearing has been all about breaking them in. I have a wide foot, and most shoes, unless they are a special wide width, need to be stretched out over time by wearing. My foot is even wider now that I work from home and go barefoot almost all day long.

Even on wide shoes of good quality, there is a "getting to know you" period that I still call breaking-in, even though I am not trying to soften or widen anything. It's just getting my foot and that shoe acquainted. And everyone needs some significant "getting to know you"/breaking in time if you want to be certain your shoes will work for walking 8 hours a day every day for a week or two!

So let's not quibble semantics, and agree that everyone should take a couple months to wear their new shoes before going to the parks with them, to be certain they won't cause any problems.

some were very comfy, but one pair with a closed toe and high back was really uncomfortable on my heel. Give Cobbie Cuddlers a try. I just bought a pair with Ultra Massage a few weeks ago for 15 at Kmart, and I have been wearing them nonstop since. They feel like slippers! I also have New Balance sneakers that will be making the trip. The Tevas will stay home this time!

interesting comment and i just read this some place else( also to go shoe shoppping at night when your feet are at their puffy old largest!)

any opinions on if that would really apply with shoes at disney since you are walking walking walking? even old comfy shoes aren't always that way there imo. which i could never figure out.any foot specialists out there????

For those who want to know:), I wore my Earthshoes to Six Flags over GA, Saturday. They wore great! They even dried out pretty quickly when my feet got soaked on a water ride (about 4 to 6 inches of water in the bottom of the boat).
My feet didn't hurt at all. (we won't mention the leg cramps I got from walking up those darn hills, though) Ewww. Just glad WDW is FLAT!:)
