Anybody has a great washer dryer set? Got our new set!

I never thought I would see the day when I got excited over a washer and dryer however THAT DAY HAS COME!!!!:cool1: :rotfl2: :banana:

About 11/2 years ago we bought the Whirlpool Cabrio. It is a toploading front loader. Because of the large capacity, I am able to wash 3 loads (of the old washer) in 1 load (in the new washer). Another thing I like is that the dryer is always waiting for the washer not the other way around.:worship:

The HE detergent costs the same as the regular detergent around here. We were also advised not to use the regular detergent. I gave away our old detergent, got the HE and never looked back.

We have whirlpool duets and love them. My DH works for Whirlpool and they also make maytag and kenmore washer and dryers. Please, help our stock, buy whirlpool!;)

Well, we did it.
We picked the maytag epic set for what we think is an awesome price.
We had planned to buy it at Lowe's because we have a 10% off coupon for moving. So I did some research on prices and found HD has it for $80 cheaper and a rebate for buying a set.

After debating on which store to get it from we decided to see if Lowe's would honor their "matching + 10%" policy.

When we arrived the associate helping us wasn't sure if they could give the 10% policy. They could match tho. Then another associate came over and said, sure... they match + 10%. So we said great! We'll take it.
Lo and behold a manager came by to approve the match and renegged on the deal... :mad:
I explained that the only reason I came here is because we have other stuff to buy and that they advertise the matching+10% policy. And that HD has the same stuff for cheaper + rebate ($100).
He tried to get us to buy it by saying "HD delivery is just to the front door and they won't take the old appliances.". Honestly, I was already peeved because they changed their story several times on us.

So, I said "OK, I'm going to call HD right now. Could you hold on for a second?"

Then he said "Don't worry about it, since you're already here we'll match it AND give you $100 instant rebate." ... SCORE!!!!! :cheer2: :woohoo:

We were ecstatic.

Then after buying more stuff (freezer, panelling, etc). We went to pay and used our 10% discount.

They pretty much took another 10%!!!!

So, the total went from:
Washer: 898 ->709 -> 638+ :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Dryer: 788 -> 709+ :thumbsup2
We just saved ourselves almost $360 on a brand new W/D!!!! :thumbsup2 :banana: :dance3:

Wooohooo!!!

I'm so excited!! We'll get our stuff this weekend... I can't wait to try them out.

Whirlpool Duet W/D and they are the bomb. We use regular Tide and cut it down to about 1/4 of the recommended amount.

We have a duet and do you know that by NOT USING HE detergent you risk damaging the washer? I am pretty sure the books that come with your washer tell you to use HE. We were told by a Sears Repair man how impotant it is to use HE. I have the extended warranty so they come out every year just to check everything on it and he said that "they can tell" when people arent' using the HE detergents..it does something to mechanics of it and eventually you will start having issues with it. He explained it to me year before last I just can't remember the details. Just thought I would pass this on. HE detergent is not that expensive and it just takes a bit.....probably more worth it in the long run if you have mechanical problems and your warranty has expired. :goodvibes

Oh look back at #14 at what that poster said about when she used the regular detergent.

Congrats! You will love them!

Like others have said, you need to use HE detergent, which incidentally, is the same price as regular detergent, but in the long run, you actually save money by using HE detergent as you use much less than regular. Also, HE detergent is specially formulated to be less sudsing, so using less regular detergent is not the answer to the sudsing issue. It's amazing to me what people will do to save a few pennies of detergent on a washing machine that they just spent thousands of dollars on. Use HE and you'll be good to go!

Happy washing, Tiger :)

My sister-in-law just bought a new washer and dryer, but she said the salesperson told her the front load machines get an odor and didn't recommend them. She said she talked to a friend of hers that worked at the appliance store too, and she told her they get lots of complaints about it. Anybody have that problem with their front load machines? Something about water standing in them somewhere and the need to use some kind of deodorizer and keep the door open all the time.

My friend had that happened to her but I think she bought something to get rid of it. I have had my washer 2 1/2 years and have never had that happen. I leave my door open a bit after doing wash, also the drawer you pull out to put laundry products in...I pull that out a bit too. I bougth this STUFF called washer magic that you can run through a cycle with no clothes of course.....and I have only done it twice in the entire time I have had it.

We have the Whirlpool Duet Sports, and yes, you do have to wipe the seal down after you are through using it for the day if you don't want to get the "odor". Water will collect in between the seal and if you don't wipe it down really quick, it will get funky. We also pull out the detergent tray to air dry and leave the door cracked until morning, but that's just becaue we're sticklers about taking care of them. Since they washer we have is so huge (4cf) I only have to do laundry *maybe* 2 times a week, so it's not a big deal.

It was recommended to us to use the Whirlpool sanitizer tablets (or something along those lines) but we wipe everything down after we're done with it, and run a clean cycle with bleach once a month, and have had no problems at all.

I'm really not bothered by having to wipe the seals, or having to use HE detergent. I have already seen the tremendous difference in my water bill (and I've only had them since March) so it's worth it to me.

Hi i brought a Samsung washer and dryer ilove it i was brought up in Europe we only have front loaders there, i brought affresh it is a large round tablet you put in the washer to sanitize the washer once a month on a hot wash on its own as front loaders do have a odor it helps to always dry around front of door after use with soft cloth and leave open until dry properly.:cool1: :cool1: :banana: :banana: :yay: :yay:

Anytime you buy a new appliance check on your local electric or gas company website to find out what ones (usually Energy Star) might be eligible for a rebate. Even if you have already bought new appliances in the last month or two, check to see if yours is on the list. Many times all you have to do is send in your receipt and they may send you $50-$250 back!:thumbsup2

We use the unscented Tide for sensitive skin (powder) in our present top loader. I went to the Tide website and I see HE but no mention of HE unscented for sensitive skin mentioned. Does anyone else have an HE detergent brand that is unscented? And are all HE detergents liquid???
