Anybody else wish there was a Starbucks at Disney?

Shades of Green has a Starbucks kiosk right beside their aafes store. It is down the hall to the left (if you are facing the front desk) from the lobby. It is only open till like noon I think.

I don't necessarily wish their was a Starbucks, but I do wish there was a specialty coffee place.

I would love a Starbucks at Disney, not only for coffee, but for Fraps too!!!!

What about in Downtown Disney? There are other non-Disney places there so that could be a good compromise.

By "outside places" I am sure they mean they don't want to see overly familiar brand names plastered on the buildings in the parks and resorts, that is what's usually meant. If one were to say this meaning that they want to patronize only establishments operated by Disney, they couldn't eat at DTD (except Cap'n Jacks), Coronado Springs, or at least half the restaurants in World Showcase.

I can't imagine anyone objecting to a Starbuck's outlet at DTD - especially since all of DTD's food and beverage sellers except two (Cap'n Jack's and Food Quest) and maybe some kiosks are outsourced - unless they're objecting to megachains on principle. (It won't happen because Starbuck's is at Universal - they likely have an exclusive contract there.)

Wow, some snarky comments here. I don't understand the attitude about Starbucks when WDW serves the stuff they do at most places. It's from 'outside' too but no one seems to see that...

This. Brava. Folks dig tradition even if the product is crappola.

MMMMMMMMMMM.. Now I want one...

That is a good idea.. DTD would be a great location... :wizard:

There is a Starbucks at the Dolphin resort.

However, if I am not mistaken, they do not make "specialty" drinks.

We rent a car for our trips anyway, and we drive to the Starbucks when I am having severe withdrawal.

Since when is it "wrong" to dislike something? Clearly, I'm not alone here. I have tried several different types of cups at Starbucks, and have not enjoyed any of them. I'm not in the habit of going into a place I haven't enjoyed repeatedly just to make sure I try everything on the menu of convince the baristas to make a better cup just for me.

Starbucks does not have good coffee. It's not wrong. It's my taste, opinion and wallet and I think I'm entitled to it.

My husband used to drink Starbucks and stopped drinking it because he said it tasted perfumy or "soapy" the last several times he had it (this was about a year ago) and he went back to Dunkin' Donuts. I don't drink the straight coffee (and I hate the VIA); I have cappucinos and fraps.

In the Animal Kingdom, you have the Royal Anandapur Tea Company. They have Hot or Iced Coffee, Double Espresso, Cappuccino, Latte, Mocha, Flavored Latte (Hot or Iced), and literally dozens of different types of teas!

Thanks for this... it is going on the must stop early here list for Animal Kingdom for our December trip! :thumbsup2

YES YES YES! I love my starbucks.....I even HAVE to get some on vacation....we drive down to the outlet or target and grap one every other day while we are there.I get one everyday at home so I need my fix and I am NOT drinking wdw coffie YUCK! The only place I have got a coffie even close to my starbucks is at Girdelli (sp?) at dtd. They are pretty yummy, alot sweeter but still good.I could care less about rope drop I will take the time to drive to a starbucks for my coffie before I hit the park.:thumbsup2

If you are wanting a Starbuck. The closest on that I have found is at the Target over by Animal Kingdom..

There is a closer Starbucks. Just off Disney property at the Outlet Mall is a Starbucks. Since we always go to the Disney Outlet store, we are right there anyway.

There is a coffee kiosk in the Contemporary downstairs. I believe it's called Contemporary Grounds. Just ask a CM there where it is. I've seen it a few times but havent had a chance to try it. It's is real brewed coffee though!! :)

Here is the menu from allears:

http://allears.net/menu/menu_congr.htm

It is by the front doors of the lobby.

Their stuff is pretty good (far better than the Kona coffee stand in Poly-- gross!) The only problem I encountered with it when I was staying at the Contemporary last year was that there was often only one person working and a long line of people (who of course were all ordering multiple very complicated coffee drinks!)

Then again, that happens at Starbucks too. ;)

I don't think even a starbucks could save the rotten coffee all over disney. It has to be the water down there. We only drink bottled water in florida.

I wish Disney had a Dunkin' Donuts. I wish Florida had more Dunkin' Donuts. So far, I've only found one ... in Kissimmee.

Do the coffee stands use tap water in their coffee or bottled? It could make a difference.

Parents are coming along (MAJOR coffee drinkers!) I KNOW they'll be having Starbucks withdrawal (mochas, lattes, etc.)

We'll be at WL. So, I think we'll have a coffee maker in the room, right?

Thinking I might bring our own coffee (or order some/ship some with filters and "to go" cups). Might brew it with the bottled water....that is a good idea. Maybe can do a grocery delivery with a gallon of water...

Thanks for all the tips! Nice to have the heads up on where to take time to purchase a cup of coffee in WDW....will have to try some of the these options!

I still think that there should be a Timmies in Epcot Canada. :lmao:

Seriously, it is more Canadian than hockey!

If they dislike megachains then the Rainforest and its ilk needs to go away. I understand that some people wouldn't mind that. ;)

I think that a good coffee and tea shop in Downtown Disney would be a good thing. I hope it's run by someone other than Disney just to make sure that Nescafe won't be a part of what's offered.

OT somewhat but...

Bottled water in Fla,that's funny.Look on the bottle, the water is pumped straight from the same aquifer. The only difference is which pipe it takes to get to your glass.FWIW I scuba in the springs/caves and there are hundreds of other divers and snorkellers there and just like in a pool....:rolleyes1......Enjoy your bottled water:rotfl:

I supposed it is true, most bottled water is filtered tap water, however when I had the occasion to read a bottle in Florida once it was filtered tap water from Texas. So those trying to avoid Florida water would have been able to had they selected that brand. Don't know what label was on the bottle.

I don't purchase bottled water. Not to say I don't drink it, but only if I receive it without having paid for it. I can get filtered water for nothing.
