I am :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I've been putting it off for a while, but I really need to get rid of all that Christmas fat that I accumulated (I'm about 15 pounds overweight right now). The worst thing, is that when I finally do decide to do something I do it 100%. That means I am now going cold turkey on all snacks, sodas, sweets, and chips. I can't wait for the caffeine and sugar withrdrawel headaches to kick in. I also will be limiting my carbs to very, very low levels, and I will start right in on some good excercise routines.
I know this is all good for me, and that in a few weeks I will be feeling a lot better, and have lots more energy, but to be honest I really don't feel like doing this.
Anybody else starting (or going through) this same things so that we can suffer together?

I should be, but I'm not. Good on you, though! (That's what they say in Ireland in place of "Good for you"). :cool1:

I'm sure going to try. I've always been slim, but as I near 50, everything I eat is settling in my thights and waist. If you'd just see my arms and legs, you'd think "thin" but the rest of me is getting pretty gross looking. Yesterday I was doing a closet clean-out and I just KNOW that I couldn't zip most of my capris if I had to wear them right now. PLUS, I watched the Ocscars last night and saw all those ladies in fitted dresses with flat bellies. Maybe that combination of things will inspire me!

I'll join you!! We are leaving in 18 days for AKL and the thought of putting on a bathing suit just hit me today! Doesn't help that I'm Pennsylvania ghostly whitish right now either! (And its snowing AGAIN), really hoping for 70 degree temps and 10 lbs off by then!!!!!! I must admit you are going radical; I'll try laying off the sweets (a bit) but bumping up the fruits and veggies!!! (PS I dont eat red meat, but everything else is OK). OK giving my self 5 more minutes on here then off to hit the tread mill and do interesting workout in this months Womens Day magazine!!! Good luck The Goofster!

Thanks!! and to you too! It sure does seem to help when have others to suffer right along with you.

And this is a BAD thing?!? ;) That sounds like one of the good things you have going for you. :thumbsup2

But, the first thing you have to do, is change your mindset. If you re-read your response, you have a lot of negatives built into your mindset. With thoughts like, "suffer together" you will be destined to fail with it.

You have to think of it more as a lifestyle change than a diet. Try reading the books, The Best Life Diet by Bob Greene, (oprah's trainer,) and The South Beach Diet. Even if you do not do those particular programs, the changes in how to think about dieting will be beneficial.

South Beach is particularly good about when someone falls off the program for a couple of days & how to simply just get back on.

The Best Life Diet doesn't even start out with the foods, he's into making you move to change your metabolism and mindset FIRST. He's also got a website and internet support group at http://www.thebestlife.com/

I think that did it for me too. Helen Mirren is 18 years older than I am. At 61, if she can look that good, I surely can at 43, right? Nevermind she has access to trainers and plastic surgeons at her disposal, I don't want to think about that aspect of it. :p

I started to buy Bob Greene's book the other day and put it back on the shelf. Now I wish I had bought it. Everytime I see Oprah I can't get over how healthy and fit she looks.

I'll join ya... I leave for WDW in 60 days and these cold days just make me want to sit, DIS and eat.

I told DH yesterday that today is the day.

I would recommend two websites for you. First: www.fitday.com allows you to track your food intake. You can see how many grams of carbs you are eating. Second, if you're thinking about doing Atkins, I would recommend the Atkins Diet Bulletin Board: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com for support.

Yeah. Me too. Two trips to WDW with the Disney Dining Plan did me in and I am now 20 lbs heavier than I was last year. Yikes! My goal is 15 lbs off by Cubs Opening Day by doing Atkins. I can't give up my coffee, though. I go to half-caf.

I got a copy from my library. :teeth: I put myself on the waitlist for it and just got it the other day.

I saw Costco has it too, discounted.

Wait a second. Are you telling me that I should suffer AND enjoy it????

Actually, once I do get going, and I start settling into a routine, it's not too bad. BUT, the first few days ARE NOT FUN!!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
If somebody else wants to enjoy going through the headaches and grumpiness of purging their body from caffeine and sugar, and enduring the aches and pains of getting your body back into shape by excersing for the first time in a few months, all I can say is more power to you.
Believe me, once I decide to do something, I will do it all the way, but I'm sorry to tell you, I doubt I'm going to be a happy camper for the next week or two. :rotfl:

I saw the title of your thread earlier and avoided it out of guilt.

But darn it, you got me thinking! :headache: That's never a good thing.

So I signed back up for Weight Watchers online and I'm going to track my points for a few days to see what I'm doing wrong, and I'm going to try to get myself in a better mindset to lose some weight.

Thanks a lot. :sad2:  :sad2:

j/k. I might really be thanking you later. ;)

Okay wait a sec... you want us all to join ya and THEN you tell us you won't be pleasant for awhile... Ya could of told us that before. :lmao: ;) :goodvibes

it's like the warning disclaimer on the side of a package. ;) :rotfl:

I started my diet last Monday.
I am doing Nutrisystem and am going to try and stick to it for 4 months and then transfer into healthier eating. I need to fit into my wedding dress. Although I fear the last 3 months before the big day I will stress eat. Eeep!

I did. My b-day is in may, I'll be 32 and sick of being fat.

10th Wedding Anni. in January and going to WDW:woohoo: .

I did a workout this morning and feel great!!

Slow and steady wins the race.

Im cutting back on portion sizes, eating smaller meals throught the day. And bumping the fiber intake.

Good luck to all!:thumbsup2

Hey, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
Actually, right now I can't even look at a piece of cake :rotfl:

10 minutes??? Is that all?? I've already been suffering for close to two hours now. And people say that I have no will power.
BTW, is it just me, or can you hear the tiny voices of the Doritos chips calling out your name too?
