Anybody Else Ready to Kill Their Kids (Long Summer Vacation)

My kids are driving me nuts! All they do is fight. They are 4 and almost 12. They have nothing in common and cannot get along at all! The older one is crazy jealous of the attention the younger one gets and the younger one cries over EVERYTHING! Aaaaaahhhhhh-----I just want school to start!

Lets just say that the week they all went to summer camp (this past one) couldn't have come soon enough.

I know the feeling. mine are 16,11,10,8,5 and they go to work with me in the summer (I manage the city pool, so they spend the day at the pool). I love my kids dearly and they never say 'Im bored' Its just the constent pushing of each other.

I'm a teacher and I'm beginning to wish I was back at work. I've had enough home time with my kids. They are 10 and 6 and at each other's throat every time I turn around. I've spent more time cleaning up messes from them than I ever have. I'm ready to deal with other people's kids that I can give back at the end of the day!

Kids 17, 13 and 12 and my house is a disaster and my pantry is constatlly bare. Two of them keep busy with sports and the youngest one just hangs out. No real jealousy or fighting issues but for the first time I am looking forward to them going back to school.

Yeah, I think part of it is I am a teacher too and being home not really having a lot to do (well cleaning and that kind of stuff of course) I am probably hyper sensitive to their fighting. And there's no going off to work tomorrow or the next day, or the next day to get away from it all! DH's work called for him to work overtime last week and I said, "Tell them I'll come in!"

Yeah, and that Staples commercial "The most wonderful time of the year" has never rung more true than this year!

24 days to go! I love my boys (9 & 6) dearly, but they need to go back to school. The constant fighting is driving me insane. The oldest had a sleepover at a friends yesterday and it was so quiet with just one home.

DD12 knows better than to even mutter the words "I'm Bored" to me, because 1) I am not her cruise director 2) I would give her more work then her usual chores just to give her something to do.

She has actually done alot so far: Youth group doing like a similar thing to Habitat for humanity. Went to the Outer Banks with a friend and her family. Went to horse camp for a week.


School will start the beginning of September, so I think she will be able to entertain herself until then. Plus we will be doing things together.

I feel your pain, at least over the weekends.. SUmmers are better then the school year for me. Kids are in camp, and the day at camp is longer then school. Plus DD14 has 4 overnite trips.. so it is real nice with only 1 around, no one to fight with!! LOL.

Right now my house is very quite. DD is with her Uncle until very very late tonite..and DS is with grandparents, but he will be home soon.

I love silence.....

I understand what you are going through. The way I have learned to deal with this situation is to have 8-10 boys over at a time. The other moms think I am crazy when they are dropping their sons off and see I have a full house of boys here; however, my boys will not fight with each other when they have friends over! My house is on the messy side now compared to the school year, but this is what I do to keep my sanity (in addition to the occasional glass of wine!).
