Anybody else not like the Keys to the Kingdom Tour?

As you can see from my trip report, my dh and I, although we really were looking forward to it, really did not like the Keys to the Kingdom tour and found it very boring. Anyone else dislike it? On the other hand, loved, loved, LOVED the Segway tour around WS.

DH & I did this during our September 2005 trip. DH was bored out of his skull. I was ok with it, but after lunch started to yawn. The only cool thing, when we were in the utilidors we saw Tigger without his head on. But, they steered us away from that. In fact, they made sure we went in the total opposite direction.

They spent entirely too much time telling us how they sort through the garbage and showing us where the garbage goes.

As I said...I was ok with it, but it was a little drawn out and boring by the end.

Loved our tour guide though. I can't remember her name, but she was so sweet and funny

DH and I went on the Keys tour early October. It was a little boring at times and we agreed about 1 hour too long. That last hour was a killer. I just wanted to sit down. We could have used another ride in the afternoon, both our behind the scenes rides were before lunch. DH LOVED the Segway tour also.

but didn't the rides not even feel like behind the scenes? our CM talked about the ride before we went on, but said nothing while we were on it and I really think they should show us how it works - instead, for POTC, 20 people were crammed on one boat (way too tight) and with HM he had us all running to get on.

We did the jungle cruise and the haunted mansion. As far as the haunted mansion is concerned you are absolutely right. We had to cut in front of people to keep up with the rest of the group. But, our tour guide gave us little tid bits throughout the ride in the ear phones. It was ok.

As for the jungle cruise, we got a whole boat to ourselves. Much easier than fighting a crowd. And our tour guide gave us little tid bits throughout this also. I wish we had done the POC, but we only did those 2 rides.

My DH and I really enjoyed this tour. Maybe your tour guide is new or something because we had none of these experiences. Our tour guide had alot of interesting information and answered any question we asked. He even answered questions about employee benefits and pay grades. We didn't ride on POTC, but we did do Jungle Cruise and HM. For Jungle Cruise, we shared the boat with another small tour group. They turned off the soundtrack so our guide and the boat driver could give us the behind the scenes tidbits. For HM, our guide took us through the exit and before we went inside he gave us all the behind the scene info and what to look for on the ride. Then he took us through the employee entrance to get to the stretching room. He had told us beforehand that we would probably get separated during the ride, so we would just meet up at the exit. We had a great time and would recommend it to anyone. I am sorry you didn't have the same experience.

i think a lot has to do with the guide that you get. we got hitched in WDW, and my wife suprised me with the tour as a wedding present as it was something that i've always wanted to do (she was suprised when mickey and stitch showed up at the wedding ). 1/4 of the way through, my wife caught me staring off, and said "a lot of this stuff, even I (she) knows." we spent 40 minutes on walt disney's early cartoons and why they were important to learn about DL, and ultimately WDW. the first half of the tour she was asking ?'s that i knew the answer to, but i held back to give others a shot. she felt all high and mighty that noone was answering, so i started ratteling off answers when it was clear noone was going to say anything.
it was cool seeing some of the behind the scenes things (we happened upon rehersal for the boo to you parade), and we learned a decent amount of hidden mickeys, but we were just taking foooorreeeevveerrr on the most mundane things. granted not everyone is well versed in WDW like us folks on the DIS, but do i really need to to hear for 20 minutes the different shades of brick that were used on main st before they settled on the red. heck, we got lapped by 2 tours.
at least i finally got to try columbia harbor house.

A friend of mine and myself went in February of 2004 and it really turned us off to these behind the scenes tours....that last hour is definitely a killer - I thought I was going to drop to the ground right in a utilidor. It wasnt bad when we were moving but there was just too many times that we had to just stand there listening. The tour guide was just not that interesting. Thank goodness for the Segway Tour because at least I (but not my friend) am willing to give another tour a shot now. Segway was great!

This was DH and my least favorite tour. A lot of it had to do with our guide (who was okay, but nothing special) and some of the people in our group - oh and the fact that I spend waaaaaaaaaay too much time reading about WDW That isn't to say that I didn't learn anything, but I did know some of it. And the last hour was definitely a killer - we had 2 people asking questions which was fine - but they asked questions that our guide had already addressed, then they asked the same questions about 20 different ways. Okay, maybe only 5 times. But at the end of the tour it was enough! I felt sorry for our guide who was very polite and nice, but you could tell she was trying to move the group along... So it depends on different factors, but you're not alone in not being wild about the tour

It was just a little too long and it was too HOT as we did it in September and we were dying by the end. We could have done with just the first part, lunhc, and then being done. But the segway tour was the highlight of our trip and we cant wait to do it again.

We did it in 2001 or 2002 and thought it was a waste of money. Our guide was very boring and whenever someone asked a question, would say something like "We'll get to that in a momemt" but she never did. Most of the stuff she told us you can see on the travel channel or read about here on the Dis. We didn't think we'd ever spend the money to do another tour but we did the Simply Segway Experience on 10/19/05 and had a blast. It was the one hour tour offered in the afternoons. We enjoyed it so much that we plan on doing the two hour Segway morning tour where you get to ride through World Showcase on our trip next year!

Dh and I went on this tour in July and LOVED it!! I can't say that we learned much new, but our tour guide was a riot!! Going on this tour made us slow down and take a closer look at the theming around us. After so many visits to WDW (I grew up in Orlando.), I am very guilty of just hurrying from one attraction to the next.

DH and I were going to take MIL on this tour, but I now think we will skip it. She does a lot of walking, but isn't very speedy. I know she will refuse a wheelchair. It seems like too much walking and "keeping up" with the group.
