My 6 yr old went to her first sleepover party on Saturday. Previous to this she has only slept away 4 times(2 with a family friend, where she did fine), one at a friend in the neighborhood, where she cried until my friend slept with her, and then this formal sleepover party. UGH.. I hate them. She came home and she was a crabby little beast. I couldnt stand being around here, she was tired and crabby and just mean and nasty. She said they slept with the tv on all night because some kids were afraid of the dark. My daughter hates when the tv is on at bedtime. So Im guessing she didnt sleep well or at all. She came home and slept for 4 hrs. She went to bed at 8pm last night and its 8am now and she is still sleeping. Why did people invite these nasty old sleepovers. My son , who is 11, is crabby as well when he comes home from a sleepover.Am I the only one whose kids are crabby when they get home?

Well, I don't hate them, but I am feeling down on them right now.

We were supposed to have a friend spend the night last night. I was woken up at 1:00 a.m. by DD telling me that her friend called home and will be getting picked up. I understand homesickness - but I'm feeling bummed because this is the second friend in the past year to have to get picked up from our house in the middle of the night. Is our house such a bad place? :guilty:

But, yep, my DD is usually a little cranky the day after a sleepover, but not too bad. Mostly, though, I'm dreading the day we decide to have a sleepover party with more than one friend here. I get a little cranky myself when I'm tired and I'm afraid I won't be the best host if the girls keep me awake too late!

My DD is only 2, so I haven't had that experiernce yet. I'm sure I will feel the same way you do, but I just remember how much fun I had at those sleepovers........... ;)

Yes, because I hate having to tell my son no because I am fearful of his sleepwalking. He does this fairly often and it can be dangerous. I feel bad for him.

I didn't like them much when the kids were younger, but now they aren't that big of a deal. The kids know that if they are crabby the next day, no sleepovers for a while, so they are usually ok the next day. I don't have to do much with them now, they usually sleep in the basement and we are on the second floor, so I don't hear them.

My DD didn't start going to them until this past year when she turned 10. She had no interest in them before then, saying she wasn't ready yet. She's now gone to six and we haven't had any of those problems. Could it be because your DD's still so young and perhaps not quite as ready for them as she thinks?

We just had 5 12 year old boys for my sons B'day "over" this weekend. Notice that I called it an "over" not a sleepover since my son had decided that they were going to try and not go to sleep. SO I am a bit crabby and tired too. I went downstairs starting at 1:00 am, every 1/2 hour to check on them and tell then to go to settle down and sleep... at 4:00 am I was not as nice and they went to sleep. So right now I HATE sleepovers...
