Anybody else get annoyed?

When people ask you how you can afford to take your children away on holiday each year ? It's really bugs me . I always get it, people questioning how I can afford to take my kids to Florida .. Well I don't smoke, go out alot, waste money , I save hard and for a long time to go to disney world , and I go without so I can take my children there as its what makes me happy, and makes them happy. Hate being made to feel like I'm doing something wrong, or because I'm young with kids I shouldn't be able to do such things .. Rant rant sorry just needed to vent tonight !!

Because really, unless it is someone actively asking for real advice on money matters, there's no point in anything else. Maybe we have a higher income, maybe we just manage it better, maybe we have different priorities. I don't see the need to explain to them where we differ unless it's a sincere request for help.

No, because I don't tell anyone about my vacation plans. The only people that know about our trip in September are DH and I and my mom because she is watching the dog. Even the kids don't know that DH and I are taking a vacation since they will all be busy that time of year and won't be going with us.

I feel that a vacation is a personal thing that doesn't need to be shared with anyone except those directly involved. All of my friends are the same way.

Usually I just Let it go over my head but today someone said something that grated on me and its annoyed me. I shouldn't have to explain myself , so what I'm young, I work and I can do what I like with what I earn

Let them think what they want, your financial information is no one's business. We all try to make sure that our kids have everything they want and by golly that's a Disney trip, I wouldn't let it bother you, it doesn't matter if your on a budget or a millionaire, people will always question your purchasing habits. These comments today were rudely asked .. That's why it's bothered me alot of pistols do message me asking for rough prices at certain times of year , and where's best to book with, and where to stay, cheap and expensive options. I love it when I get that. I get to play table agent lol but there's always the odd few who will be rude unfortunately .

As a nurse I make a decent salary but that still doesn't stop people from asking "How can you afford to take Madeline to Disney twice a year, especially since you're a single mom?" I guess they think our going so often coupled with my beong a single mom equates to I don't pay my bills or something.

We go so often because we can afford to. From the age of 5 I've had a savings account, from the age of 10 I've been obsessive with saving money, and hold the philosophy that unless we truly need an item, it doesn't get bought. I take 20% of each paycheck to put into savings account #2, happily titled "Our Walt Disney World Vacations". You'd be surprised what one can accumulate in just 6 short months if they spend money wisely!

Yep. Sadly I have stopped telling anyone when we go too, usually when we return we get that... "Do you own stock in Disney?? " "Well it must be nice" Wha Wha Wha....

I get this too, I stinks because I am usually so excited to share and then they burst my bubble. Oh well, I don't question how others spend their weekends, it's truly amazing how much money you can stash throughout the year when you have a goal in mind! They just don't understand, I've decided they don't need to either

We are going in September and aren't telling people either other than my mom & some close friends and 2 cousins. DH's family is nosy, jealous and judgmental and we learned to keep our lives very private- makes things/relationships with them much easier and more pleasant!!!
