I know Wet and Wild doesn't open if its too cold but I think 1 Disney water park is always open. I would imagine it would be a ghosttown on one of those really cold days (Orlando can get into the 30's-40's.) Has anyone been when its really cold? What's it like?

On my past three January trips, I been to Typhoon Lagoon twice and once to Blizzard Beach. The air temp on each trip was around 70 degrees, which is considered quite "cold" by Floridians! But at 70 degrees, there were people there - not a lot, though! I must say, I have the best time on these winter visits! Very low crowds, no lines to the slides or tubes, plenty of room in the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. :) On the lazy rivers, I could float without seeing another person for quite awhile. I only do water parks in the winter now, as I also been in May and can't stand crowds and the bosy attitude of the CM's then  . Disney does only open one water park in the winter months. This last winter it was Blizzard Beach.

As for closing when it is too cold, I do believe Disney does that, too. One year when I was at Typhoon Lagoon in January, I heard all the CM's there get the word that the next day, the temperature was forcast to be 55 degrees, so it was already decided the park would be closed. All the CM's seemed happy to have the day off!

Thanks for your reply! I'm one of those wimpy Floridian's. Have you ever seen people dressed in a lightweight wetsuit at the parks when its cold? I have one that is reversable such that the front zipper is not exposed (ie - no metal would come in contact with the slide) and wondered if others had tried something like that to stay a bit warmer.

We usually go anytime we hit WDW. So we have been to the water parks in Dec, Jan, Nov and some of those times it was cooler than others. The water was comfortable, but being out on the beach was not unless you were fully dressed. And don't get dripped on by the water in the caves when you float the lazy river. I think the air temp was maybe in the upper 50's or 60's.

I'm pretty sure the water parks close when the temps get that low (I don't know what the cut off is though).

Also, I believe they schedule refurbishment of the water parks during the cooler months.

I was there in Dec. '97 and TL was closed. Out of the 6 days I was there, 4 of the days were really cold, about 30-40's, and I'm pretty sure BB was closed all of those days. The last day, it jumped up to the high 70's or low 80's, and we read that BB was open, so we went. While the weather was comfortable, I thought the water was a bit chilly. We braved it and it wasn't unbearable, but it would've been nice if the water was a wee bit warmer! (I guess after 4 days of cold air, it takes a while for the water to warm up!)

I've been to BB on a very cool day in early Feb, straight onto everything, all day. Climbing all the steps keeps you warm, just take big towels to wrap up in when you get out
