Anybody actually had ME tags with the wrong resort on them?

I got my ME tags for my upcoming trip. They say "Old Key West" on them. That would be great if my reservation was at Old Key West. Unfortunately it happens to be at Saratoga Springs.

I called DVC Member Services and they said to cross out Old Key West and write in Saratoga Springs.

There's a bar code on the tags which they said would come back to my reservation, which is definitely at Saratoga Springs. When I check in (and when my friend checks in the next day) the computer should say I'm at Saratoga Springs and they'll put me on the correct bus (which I think would be the same bus that services OKW anyway). That will work out better for my friend because she is checking in with ME after I am.

The MS agent also said this happens all the time and there won't be a problem getting me, my friend, and the luggage to the correct resort.

If it happens all the time there must be someone on here who has gotten tags with the incorrect resort on them. Has the cross out/write in thing worked? I need to decide whether or not I need a couple days' clothes in a carryon because my suitcase might end up at OKW.

We recently changed resorts for our upcoming trip. Already had the luggage tags with the old resort name. The woman at DME said if I didn't get the new ones in time to just cross out and write the new name, said it wouldn't be a problem.
But I havent actually done it yet

You were informed correctly that the barcode brings up information about your reservation (actually, your ressie number) and NOT information about a specific resort. In other words, if we were able to read your barcode with our human eyes, it would say "(Your name) and (your reservation number)." The barcode would NOT say "OKW" or even "SSR."

So as ling as your reservation is correct, then your barcode/DME tag is fine. They recommend to cross out the name of the resort (but NOT the barcode) just in case some well-meaning CM saw your luggage about to head to SSR, the proper place, but since he/she saw your tag says OKW, does what he/she thinks is the "right thing" by manually overriding the system and giving your luggage a tour of the back rooms at OKW.

As for packing extra clothes and so on in your carry-on -- DO THIS ANYWAY! So this just in case the AIRLINE delays your luggage. In all my years of flying, I've never flown ANYWHERE without my first 24 hours' worth of supplies in my carry-on. I consider it a kind-of insurance just in case of an airline-based luggage delay.

When we were staying at Port Orleans Riverside we received luggage tags that said Animal Kingdom Lodge. Not sure how that happened! I called and they said to do the cross out thing. At this point we still had 14 days to our trip, so I asked them to please send new ones. They said they weren't sure they would get there in time, and refused to send new ones. I pretty much demanded they send them so they rushed them and the correct tags did arrive in time. However, since your name is on the tags and the reservation will come up correctly when they scan them I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. I always pack a carry-on with extra clothes just to be safe.

Yeah, I will bring the clothes for the first couple days, but doing without shampoo and makeup is what really gets to me.

Of course, that stuff can't be taken on planes anymore, or I wouldn't be checking any luggage in the first place.

Some suggestions:
You can ship yourself a package containing the items not allowed in the passenger cabin.
You can order said items online (e.g drugstore.com, walgreens.com, trywhateverdepartmentstoreyoubuytheseitemsat.com) and have them delivered to you at your resort.
You can contact any of the grocery delivery services in the Disney area and see if they'd be able to purchase the items and deliver them to you ($10 - $20 service charge, minimum order requirements may exist)
You can purchase shampoo at your resort, along with (I think) a limited selection of cosmetics.
You can purchase a solid shampoo bar (easier to find online than in local stores) and non-liquid makeup before leaving home, and make do with that.
You could (sit down, this one's gonna shock you) not wear makeup - you're on vacation - relax, take it easy, you can do things (like this) that you wouldn't do at home. Really, nobody you don't know is going to look at you and say "Ew, she's not wearing makeup!"
