Any wishing the Debate board back?

Ok, I have noticed a ton of new Debate threads on here lately since the DB went by the wayside.....
So that begs the question Who wants the DB back so we can clean up the CB?

Yeah, I find myself having a harder time weeding through all the posts now to find the true community posts. Debate posts aren't "community" to me. I'd love for the debate board to come back.

YES! I come to the CB to read fluff. And while I know I can just skip Debate posts, I find it annoying.

For the reasons the Debate Board was stopped, the same could be said for the Community Board, The Birthday Board, United we Stand Board, etc. None of these boards talk about Disney or help planning a trip, etc.

Now, since the Debate board has closed, I find myself visiting the site alot less cuz I'm not planning a trip right now. There are lots of other boards out there to chat or debate.

I will probably not use this site at all anymore unless the Debate Board is re-opened. I wonder how many advertisers use the number of visits before determining if they shell out some cash to put banners, etc. How many folks have disappeared now that the board has closed?? I'm not much into politics, but there was alot of education for me at least on that board that I don't get elsewhere. Being combined takes too long to find the useful and interesting topics.

I love, love, love the way the CB is now. I've made some new friends too! And I think an enemy or two. It think it's a great mix too. There is now something for everyone -- that IS what a community is.

I wasn't aware that the CB had become "dirty" since the DBer's were instructed to post their debates here instead..

I'm w/you Maggie, I love the new mix! I'm glad to see Debates here -- I don't get involved in many of them, but they are fun to read. And a bunch of new characters on the CB, I do love that!

Believe it or not, I'm half and half.

While I still disagree with the way its closing was handled and the reasons given for closing it, I don't mind the CB... er... 70% of the time or so.

(sorry if that is too CBish, but hey, thats me, and its always fun to mix it up a bit, I think. )

Hey! I warned you!

I agree, actually. It's hard for me to sort through the fluff and the debates. I liked it a lot better when the separate boards existed and I could play on the DB, then play on the CB, separately.

And you are right about loving the new characters on the CB and SOM. Let's hug him! {{{{Son of the Morning}}}. LOL!

There is a thread around here somewhere, a "Where do you stand. Not a Debate" or something like that. You should find it and read it when you get a minute. It gives one some great insite to our CB members, old and new. And there is another "best kept DB secret" on there too. It's a good read.

I have a harder time finding the debates, but I also get to be part of the larger community here and to make more friends. I like the mix!

And the debates have toned down a bit, too.

I would have hoped that the point of the Debate Board was to allow people to listen to others' points of view, to find, where possible, areas of common ground, and to see where there is disagreement and, respectfully, to agree to disagree, while remaining on good terms.
Sadly, the Debate Board all too often became simply a shouting match between hotheads; people who have no intention of listening to others but who see the whole thing as an opportunity to wind others up while scoring cheap points and resorting to name-calling (ad hominem arguments).
So, give them the Debate Board back and leave the Community Board, and others, as places where the rest of us can enjoy each others' company.

I just wanted to say I like reading the UK peoples posts! Do they speak in different dialects over there? I notice subtle differences in the way different people write.

Thats the beauty of the internet, we get to hear from so many different types of people.
