Any way to save on a one day rental with National?

Originally, I was looking at a one day National rental from the Dolphin, starting on a Sunday. It was $55 total. Now, I've had to switch to Monday, and it's $78! Is there any way to save on a one day rental, usually the coupon codes and rate codes don't work? TIA!

The hours for National at the Dolphin are 8am-4pm, but the CCC is open until 8pm.

westcliffemom, what is your date?? I'm also getting under $40 for May, but if you're booking over Easter, it's going to be more $$$.

Did you try using the Walmart code from mousesavers? I just used that one to check rates for a rental in June. It was a pretty decent rate for the week, and it was at Sanford Airport.

You can use upgrade coupons (Entertainment) for your one-day rental to make a larger vehicle less expensive. You can drop off the car at the Dolphin - even after the desk closes.

My date is Monday May 15, to Tues May 16, and I'm doing pickup at Dolphin, drop off at MCO (would that make it more?) TIA!

That's the same rate I got using the Walmart code 5000304. Picking up at Dolphin and dropping off at MCO. Mid SUV was the cheapest.

Okay, thanks a bunch for all the suggestions! I went back in and changed the car, and the mid suv came up! Now, I'm saving $17! I really appreciate it!

NancyIL, Did you drop off a car at the Dolphin after 4 pm? If so, when? I tried in Dec 04 and Dec 05 and was told by the National counter at the Dolphin that I could not do that. (I was actually staying at the Dolphin).

Whenever I try to put in a return time of after 4pm on the National website, it kicks it out, stating they are closed then. How'd you get around it???
