Just interested in knowing if any other VWL lovers have decorated a room in their home with the VWL theme? I am redoing our master bathroom and bedroom with the VWL theme. Any good ideas or information on where to purchase things?? I bought the moose decals when we were at VWL last and will use these as a border in the bathroom. Also, just bought some great fannel sheets at Kohl's that have the VWL theme. Any ideas??

Kohl's bronze mooses are cute!! Their Sonoma brand dinnerware also has a Lodge line to match.

When we moved into our new apartment, we did our bathroom in VWL theme. We got a boarder from[URL
http://www.usawallpaper.com[/URL] . It has a train going thru something like the Rockie Mts, with an elk and eagle. The we have these mini snowshoes and some pine branches. When we went camping at Tahoe, we found these really big pine cones too. Cabelas.com has a bunch of stuff for this, we got most of it. A shower curtain, rug and sink stuff. We have a couple of candles that look like logs. At Wal-Mart we found insect stick on and put them around the room also. But the part that gets everyones attention, is the ants(stickon) on the back of the toilet and climbing up the wall behind it. The first time people see it, they think we have an ant infestation, till they see they aren't moving. We are constantly on the look out for stuff, but now it's getting to full of everything.

I love that style!! Our house looks more like HHI. It reminds me of a cross between WL and the beach!

Our den is styled sort of like VWL. Cedar paneling and green stained oak trim, hardwood floor, loon pic, deer and moose nic-nacks etc. We really like that type of decor.

We just finished our family room with a VWL theme. The walls are cedar clap board with a clear urethane. I bought mission style furniture with southwestern themed material on the couch and rocker and 2 green leather chairs. My husband is a hunter and the only way I would put a deer head in my house would be if I had a room that would compliment it! All his trophy horns sat in the garage for years! He also has elk horns that I put on the wall. I bought an antique show shoe and decorated it with deer horns, feathers and leaves and put it over the couch. I also put outdoor lamp lights on the walls and bought amber shaded mission style lamps for the end tables. We have a black wrought iron stair rail leading to the room and a black woodstove also. I put shutters on the windows, but replaced the center of the shutters with southwestern material (that matches the couch and rocker). The main colors of the room are dark burgandy and hunter green accented with black. We also have an antique wooden refrigerator that holds our (Disney) DVDs! I have also used some nice silk evergreen/pinecone greens as accents on the wooden refrigerator. I painted the door and the shutters a dark burgandy. If you look at LL Bean catalog/internet site you could get some ideas. I also saw some lodge themed Woolrich items at Target. Woolrich has some nice accent pieces on their internet site - pillows and blankets.

I'm originally from the Saratoga/ Adirondack area, so I looked on the internet for Adirondack lodges and got some ideas also. My father was an Adirondack guide for 36 years, so I'm not bothered by deer heads and horns in the house. As long as they are in VWL themed room!

Good luck - I had a great time making our family room into a Wilderness Lodge get-a-way!

Well, we're working on it! ;) We are doing our LR over in the VWL style--moose wallpaper, lamps, etc.

(We already have a bit of Disney themeing at home--BWV bathroom, POFQ bathroom, and in the future, a Poly bedroom.) :bounce:

Our whole new house looks like VWL!

Thank you all for the great ideas!!!!! And Diane, your new home looks beautiful - definitely gives you that VWL feel. One other question - does anyone know the music that plays at VWL - is it the soundtrack from Dancing with Wolves? I once inquired about the music and they said they did not have permission to sell it.

We stop at this furniture store every time we visit North Carolina.

The "stuff ain't cheap," but I've always thought it would be perfect if we chose to do a room in WLV decor.

Damn, diane! You win!

I'm a little surprised that it doesn't look like OKW, though!

Some people buy points at multiple resorts, you just build your own, hehe.

LOL! OKW would NOT fit the climate we have here in Minnesota!:teeth:

Our dining room has standard dining room wall paper, but the rest is all VWL. We picked up 2 switch plates at VWL a few years back that have 2 bears and some trees on them. Then there all of those WL prints! We bought some at WL and had them framed and matted, very nice. Then there is the 'welcome' bears that greet you in the doorway. And I took some great pics that are also framed and matted that hang in there. It is pretty subtle, but fellow VWL people would pick up on it in a heartbeat.

We're sort of getting there with our bedroom. We don't actually have real bedroom furniture right now....but we have a mahogany colored trunk and a writing desk that were my dh's mothers' and they look really nice with our "country" sort of bedding that we got a Kohl's (Dan River- Country Roads) which reminded us of the decor at VWL. Eventually I think we'll get a bedroom set that matches and add the details. We want to be in our permanent home before we do that though! If we have a master bath we'll probably do that with the same theme. Right now the bathroom next to our bedroom is "Mickey" themed....red, white, black, yellow and purple (mostly white...and it does look nice, though the description does sound hideous!)....that stuff will probably go in the kids' bathroom when we get a house.

I just saw some great stuff in the Plow and Hearth catalog that would be perfect...lamps, finnials, all kinds of other stuff! That whole catalog screams WL!

Diane, your house is beautiful! And I agree...the OKW theme would just not work in the north!

We are looking to make our bedroom "lodgy" as we call it, but without the blatant moose and bear motif. We do have those same Kohl's flannel sheets! I already had mission furniture and am looking for a more outdoorsy lamp and I have some picture frames and candle holders, if only I could find a bookcase I like. Also we are still hashing out the paint color, and window treatments.
In my living room (computer room) I have the framed VWL print, plus three sets of Disney pins framed--two from WDW, one from DCL, and my/DH's Mickey ears on top of the stereo. The background color for the WDW pins is brick red like some of the lodge colors.
I wanted to redo our outdoor lighting (by the sidewalk) with some hanging lantern style stuff I found at Lowes, but it's pricy!

Yep, I agree that Diane wins. :teeth:

I'm doing the basement family room/bathroom in a VWL theme. I have a plaid sectional and I have tons of stuff waiting to go up once DH gets around to painting it.

I have found quite a few accessories at the Cracker Barrel gift shop.

We built a stone fireplace which makes me think of WL. Although it can't compare to the one in the lobby it suits me just fine!!

I want to decorate my basement after OKW once we put the pool in the yard!!!
