VA Beach and VA Beach Tourism area are two distinct different areas, which area are you thinking about. As for surrounding areas, the opinion could differ greatly based on what areas..
Tinkbutt, I'm a LONG time resident of Va. Beach. It's a very nice place to live and work. Of course it all depends on the area you choose. I live in the oldest (first established) neighborhood called Aragona. Nice little houses. I'm close to shopping, a hospital and major interstate. Va. Beach is a very large city, I wouldn't recommend the Beach area, because in the summer, it fills up with tourists and traffic is a bear to deal with. I also wouldn't recommed living in Norfolk or Portsmouth. However, Chesapeake is also a nice city. If you are interested, PM me and I'll be more than happy to help any way that I can....and would love to have a fellow DISer in the area. Good Luck to you.

Well it's not a definite move but my Fiance might get a promotion to that area we don't really have specifics except that his work is located on N. Witchduck so anything close to that would be fine. We were just looking for the STAY AWAY from areas!
We moved from the area 2.5yrs ago but are close enough to drive there. We got tired of the traffic and moved 1hr west to a small town. We lived in Chesapeake for 12 yrs but i also live in Vabch before that. I also agree with PP about not moving to the ocean front area. Witchduck rd is also a busy road during traffic times. We lived in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake and loved it.

No Way!!! I went to law school in Va Beach!!! It really is a small world
I lived in Chesapeake and like it a lot but it was more than a few years ago and I am sure it has changed a lot (i.e. gotten bigger and more developed)
