Any Updates On Mission Space Death??

I apologize if this has been covered recently and I'm duplicating here (honest, I did a "search," but didn't find what I was looking for.....)

Have there been any recent news updates on the cause of death of that little boy?

The last I heard was that there was a very good likelihood that the ride was not the real culprit to the death but rather that he likely had an issue that was possibly undiagnosed that was stressed by the attraction.

I myself wouldn't allow my 4 year old on the ride anyways...........not that there's anything wrong with that, but I just wouldn't put a 4 year old child on it.

I did notice however, that even though the boy was above the height restriction, many CM's were VERY serious about the heigh rule, even to levels of microscopic measures.

Last I heard, the autopsy didn't reveal any underlying issues with his health. Haven't heard anything since that 1st investigation.

Sometimes they have to investigate and rule out all the possibilities.

I know that I don't want to ride M:S again.

Sometimes the results do take a long time.
Remember how long it was before we learned the final results about Terry
Shivo.

If you read the whole article, it says that the results from the autopsy won't be in until September.

Why do you care why he died? He died. All deaths of four year olds are tragic. More than likely the ride triggered something. It was a complete accident, and for all of us except the family, and possibly disney it is over.

Why should we care??? GEEZ, I hope we ALL care! A four year old died for no apparent reason. Knowing the 'why' he died will help all of us deal with it. It could just as easily been one of our children. Hopefully by learning the 'why' it happened, it won't happen to another child.

September? How cruel.....Is there a reason to wait? I've heard of 4 weeks but September? That is 12 weeks from the occurance. Family will want closer.

Knowing why is closer. Many people relate to this accident because we have small children and are affected by any un-natural loss.

It is tragic that a 4yo died, but it is also tragic when any one dies of an u-natural cause.

If I remember correctly it was said in the beginning that it could take 'up to 12 weeks' before they have an answer. I guess some tests just take longer than others. I don't think there is anything wrong with people wanting to know why a little boy died during a ride in WDW.

Unfortunately for certain tests it does take many weeks to get the results back. I am pretty sure they are doing their best to get it done quickly.

In my opinion...I don't think it's the height requirement that matters.

The ride restraint system has the height requirement...not the ride itself. (If that makes sense.)

I do agree with you though GIOny...I think 4 years old is too young for that intense of a ride - regardless if they mean the heigh requirement for the restraint system.

I also have read that there was no initial findings related to any medical reasons for this young boy to have died. My questions is this, I just wonder if he literally wasn't scared to death? There have been some studies and occurances where they have not been able to determine the cause of death and they have looked at this as being a POSSIBLE reason. Never really understood that or know if it is really possible, but I agree with everyone who has stated that 4 yoa is pretty young. Not to say that I am in any way second guessing the mother here, because she is the only one who could make that decision.

My son has always been big for his age and my daughter was riding the parachutes at Six Flags over Texas when she was four and that takes you high into the air and drops you. Not anything like MS, but still I am sure that there where some people who thought that I was out of my mind.

Still I pray that the family has closure and that they are able to move forward with love and peace in their hearts.

the only other "intense" rides (for children) I can think of on Disney property would be:
Mission:Space
Rock n Rollercoaster
Tower of Terror
Space Mountain

and if they scare easily - Snow White. heheheh (that 'hag' in the begining scarse alot of young kids! hehehe)

Sadly, sometimes they never find out how or why someone died.

My cousin was a healthy 42 year old who died in her sleep for no apparent reason. Her sister saw her around 9pm the night she died and she was fine. After an autopsy and many, many exhaustive tests, they still don't know what caused her death. The coroner told my uncle that they will probably never know.

So there is a chance they may never find a definite cause for this poor little boy's death.
