Any trouble adding kids onto Orbitz reservations?

I just recently priced Orbitz for our summer plans (with 2 adults as opposed to 2 adults and 3 children), and I'd save more than $400 if I book through them as opposed to my travel agent.

Has anyone had any trouble adding the kids onto the Orbitz reservations when they add them after the fact to avoid them being charged to the reservation?

I'd like some reassurance before I cancel my plans with my TA and switch my reservations.

Thanks!

I didn't have to add kids, but many have reported that it was very easy. Some were on hold for a while, but that's well worth the money saved! :goodvibes

Was able to get my children added to my ressie easily just by calling Orbitz. They put me on hold while they contacted Disney. Was also able to get my Disney reservation number and get linked to MDE.

I was able to add our dd tonight. Made the reservation, and about 10 minutes later called and had them add her. The lady I spoke with knew exactly what to do. When I linked the reservation to my MDE it showed 2 adults and 1 child :thumbsup2

All you have to do is call Orbitz and ask them to call Disney and add the child(dren). I did it yesterday.

Awesome. I am going to call this morning--what a nice savings for our vacation!

I also looked for our two Universal nights, and those are eligible, too--it's another $150 saved with my vacation. Does anyone know if I'd have trouble doing the same for them?

Thank you Dis'ers! This tip saved me more than $500, and the Orbitz bucks I earned will allow me to book our travel night for free! :thumbsup2

Somehow when I booked AOA Monday I found a screen that allowed me to add the kids as kids without charging the additional fee. Before booking I checked the number with only the adults and it was the same.

I booked yesterday and immediately emailed Orbitz customer service. I just logged in to MDE and the children are listed on my reservation. :thumbsup2

I like to avoid customer service phone calls if at all possible.

I have never used Orbitz, so pardon my :confused3. Why do you not make the ressie with children to begin with? I call and make a ressie for me and then call back 10 minutes latter to add my children? Do you get charged more if they are on the ressie to start with at Orbitz?

Orbitz site treat added children as adults (age filter is not working properly), price of the room goes up with 3+ adults.

Hi

I booked Orbitz yesterday for our Disney trip this summer. I booked with 2 adults to save money then called and they added my DD. I went on MDE checked everything and it was all listed perfectly.

I also called ME and put our flight schedule with them.

It was a lot easier than I thought.

Yay! Love the money I am saving.

I called the Disney reservation line and asked to speak to their wholesaler. The wholesaler then added the kids for me.

I rebooked through Orbitz. They spelled my oldest's name wrong on the reservation so I need to call them back and have them change it. Also, when I went to customize my magic bands the shipping address was listed as the Orbitz Corporate Office address so I changed that to my home address of course.

Disney will not tell you anything about your Orbitz reservation. They wouldn't update my daughter's name on the reservation. I was able to get her to at least look in the Disney system to make sure that the reservation was there. She said all changes/updates/requests have to go directly through Orbitz. I think that's funny after the fact because Orbitz gave me a Disney Reservation number, separate from the Reservation confirmation that was automatically generated in my email when I booked the hotel. I don't know why Disney won't then let you use the number Orbitz gives you which is a Disney number for your reservation. Changing the name online doesn't update it in the system, and even though she's only 12, I don't want any surprises at check-in because her name is misspelled. KWIM?

So although I do feel a little anxiety about making the switch through Orbitz, I did pocket an additional $372 over my 35% off rack for WL Courtyard view!

I emailed Orbitz to add my kids and was told that I can't add people after a reservation was complete, and the only way to do it is to cancel and rebook... I looked and there are no room available for our date at POR. At least not ones I can book for a family of 5. Please tell me I just didn't talk to the right person, and if I call they will add my kids :scared:

They say the same thing when you call the 1-888 number as part of the automated message, but once I got to a live person there was no issue. I also was able to update my older daughter's name through Orbitz. They said that they can't update your online reservation with them to indicate that you have the children on the reservation, but that Disney did have that on theirs, and when I go on the DME website my kids are listed and the reservation indicates 2 adults and 2 children.

I am the OP, and I have made four different reservations now through Orbitz (we're resort hoppers). I haven't had any problems at all making the reservation for two through Orbitz and then calling and having my kids added on. I just finalized our last reservation this morning. All have successfully shown up in MDE, too.

The reservation doesn't need to be canceled and rebooked--just ask the agent to call Disney and have them add your children onto the reservation. If the agent insists that's what needs to be done or says it can't be done, I'd politely tell them you need to go and hang up and try another agent later.

The only thing I still wonder about our my dining ADRs. They all still show up with a credit card guarantee in my MDE, but I saw one poster said that they would have to call Disney to relink the dining reservations with the new Orbitz room reservation. I am hoping that there's no more calling to do, and since they still exist in MDE that they are still really there. I just am nervous since I've never not booked directly through Disney.
