Any tips to keep clothes wrinkle free in luggage??

I heard a tip many years ago, and it has worked perfectly every time. Pack your clothes with each one in a plastic bag - the kind they come back from the cleaners in. Fold each item separately, enclosed in this plastic, and they will come out looking great.

This is so true, I do it all the time and never have to iron!!!

Right after embarkation and we have unpacked, we send shirts and stuff out to be pressed and they are ready for formal night the next night.

I roll everything. And most of the time, dresses/dress shirts/pants/skirts etc only need to be hung overnight and it's great. If something is really wrinkled, i just use a wet cloth and smooth it down.

Otherwise, I find rolling keeps it less wrinkled than folding. I also use packing cubes to keep the close snug so that it doesn't move around and have a better chance of wrinkling.

A friend of mine actually takes a mini steamer to steam her clothes, but those are usually for business trips etc. I don't think she takes it on vacations.

I have been using this packing trip for years and everything arrives relatively unwrinkled: Stack 3-4 t-shirts or blouses on top of each other with a piece of tissue paper between each one; put 2 pieces of large tissue paper down the middle of the stack and then fold the arms in and then the sides, then fold it in half. Do the same for every 3-4 shirts (of same type) and they keep each other from wrinkling. I then stack as many of these bundles as I can in packing cubes.

For pants, put tissue paper down the pant leg then roll it into a not-too-tight roll. they are easy to pack this way and I've never had to iron on the other side. However, most of our pants are the "wrinkle-free" brands -- but they still manage to get wrinkles when I don't do it this way.

Rolling them and pack a smal travel steamer. I hang everything I can and then for that extra need attention I blast it with a travel steamer and wrinkles come right out.

For jackets etc that you don't want to roll, if you have the space in your case, fold carefully and place in a large zip-loc type bag. Seal, leaving air IN the bag. This way the folds and any wrinkles will not get pressed into the jacket. Just like a bag of crisps, the air protects the jacket.

I roll all of our casual clothes and pack them in packing cubes so they stay nice & tight. Helps a TON not only with wrinkles but with staying organized and taking up less space altogether. Tops in one / bottoms in another. Then I have 15" packing folders (one each) that I use for our dressier clothes / slacks / capris etc. FANTASTIC space saver and the way they bundle keeps the clothes from shifting around and getting all sloppy. (I use the 15" ones because they'll fit easier into carry-on luggage.) I also am a fan of the Downey Wrinkle Release so I bring along a travel size bottle of that now wherever we go. I just give any creases a quick spray. :thumbsup2 Finally, I hang dresses & suits on those slim felt covered hangers and pack them in either a rolling garment bag or in a "suiter" type suitcase that accepts hangers. I slip dry cleaning bags over the items too when I pack them. Which bag I use depends on how much stuff we have and if I have baggage allowance on the airline to include the garment bag. I've never had send anything out to be pressed by packing this way. :thumbsup2

Is it just me or does anyone else never notice if something is wrinkled? I'm not spending my time looking at what other people are wearing; I don't think they're looking at me, either.

I usually prefer to take non-wrinkle type of clothing but I will stack two similar type shirts (such as dress shirts), pants, shorts and roll them together.

I've also notice some great tips by others so I am taking note of them as well.

This really works, DH used this trick when he travelled a lot for business and had to pack suits etc. He puts each item on a hanger from the dry cleaner and each shirt, suit, pants gets it's own plastic dry cleaner bag. We fold then hold the hangers together and fold just once to fit in the suitcase. When you arrive, just pick up the hangers and hang in the closet. Virtually no wrinkles!

We only do this with dress clothes (suit, dress shirt, dress pants) and don't really bother with our casual clothes.

Yes it does work. It is how I survive traveling. Also, the pressing service on the ship is VERY reasonable.

I own a Dry Cleaners. When my people tell me they are traveling I pack everything in seperate plastic. They arrive as wrinkle free as possible. It works. :flower3:
