Good morning. I recently hosted a book party for Thirty-One and something is telling me things aren't exactly right. The consultant was in CONSTANT contact before my party closed on November 2nd. She cashed my check (made out to her for more than $900) the next day and said she placed the order on the 3rd. Told me it would take two weeks at the longest to receive my items. She had everything shipped to her home. Said she wanted to look over everything before she gave it to me.

I have spoken with others who say the items get shipped directly to the hostess, not the consultant. I also have only had one contact with her since the sale closed, and that was when I sent her an email asking about the status of the order. She sent an email back saying she wasn't feeling well, but would call to check on the status and let me know. That was almost a week ago. When she told me 2 weeks at the longest, I told family members who ordered that I would have it at Thanksgiving. Now it seems I will instead have some explaining to do at Thanksgiving.

Should I be worried? Is it normal to write the check to her and not to Thirty-One? Any ideas on what might be happening? I'm sick to my stomach thinking I might have trouble with this order.

Thanks for any help!

When I had a 31 party, the checks were made out to the consultant. I used to do parties like that (different brand though), and checks were made out to the consultant and then the consultant put in one big order and made one payment to the company. This was so there was only the one order and so the consultant could be paid. My 31 party though, the items were shipped directly to me and I was told if there was any problems, to call my consultant. Hope it all goes well.

When I had my party, I also made the check to the consultant. She also had the orders shipped to her. She then delivered them to me, all separated into individual bags tied with pretty ribbons and thank you cards. Not sure on the timeline though. It seems it took a bit longer than she thought it would.

Consultant here! I'm sorry that you've had trouble with your order!

Checks for purchases must be made to the consultant. We have to pay for the orders as they are placed. If there were credit card payments, they were processed by Thirty-One directly. Did anyone from your party pay with a card? If so, they could check their statements to make sure they were charged.

Orders typically ship in about a week, so yours has had plenty of time to arrive. I placed an order last Thursday night and it shipped yesterday. It's not unusual to ship to the consultant. Some prefer it so that they can make sure that everything is there and correct. If I have the order shipped to me, I sort and package it and deliver it to the hostess as quickly as possible. There's no reason it should take this long!

Did she give you an order number or have you received an email from Thirty-One? Typically the hostess receives notification that the order has shipped. You could try to email her again, but I would recommend calling the Thirty-One office at 1-866-GIFTS31. They should be able to look up the order by her name and yours.

I hope everything works out!!!

This is what worries me. I have gotten nothing from Thirty-One and no order number from her. I know she is busy, but I've heard from several other people who have had parties (not with this consultant) that this is a long time to wait. Something just doesn't seem right.

Thanks for the phone number. I'm going to call them directly and see what is going on.

I am a Director with 31, and I agree with Andrea. I never give my hostesses the order number or anything, and they receive nothing from 31. Shipping times have been very fast lately, so I would think she had the order by now. If my hostesses are local to me, I always ship to myself, so I can go through the order and bag the individual's orders.

If I was you, I'd call Home Office to check on the status, if your consultant isn't able to be reached.

That wait time isn't typical, but yesterday was the end of the November special, so consultants may need help in placing those final November orders. Stay on hold if you can. You don't want to have to start over in the queue if you call back. I'm sorry you're having so much trouble!

I love my Thirty-One items I have purchased from others, but I think I will not be hostessing any more parties for them anytime soon. I'm really worried about explaining this all tomorrow at dinner. Several of the families I will not see again until Christmas and I know some of the items were gifts. Now I will either have to make arrangements to meet up with them or ship them to their homes. I never expected this would happen.

I am absolutely livid! I spent an hour and a half on hold only to be told that my consultant never placed the order until Monday the 25th. :furious: Are you kidding me?!! She knew I wanted this stuff before Thanksgiving. I'm so mad I could cry. The guy from corporate was VERY nice and is supposed to be calling me back. Hopefully he can shed some light on all of this. I'm so disappointed and I'm going to feel so stupid tomorrow explaining to everyone why their stuff isn't here.

Thanks for the advice to call corporate. Who knows how long I would have been waiting otherwise.

I'm so sorry that this happened to you!! There is no excuse for her not placing the order when you gave it to her, much less almost three weeks later. And lying to cover it up. I don't know if it's an option or not, but I wonder if they would consider changing the shipping to be directly to you. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

I would ask too if they could mail each guests purchase directly to them to avoid you having to deliver.

I think it's the responsibility now of the consultant to mail items to the people that you will not see again before Christmas and I'd make sure that she knows you'll accept nothing less. It's great that the parent company may be willing to help you out, but it is in no way their fault the order was placed so late and the consultant should be the one footing the individual shipping charges.

That is awful! I just hosted a party on November 8th, my hostess placed the order on the 9th and I had it on the 16th! She did have me write the check to her and it was shipped to her and she bagged it up and brought it to me! I would just tell your family members that the consultant dropped the ball and you will make sure they get their items ASAP! This isn't your fault so you shouldn't feel dumb!

Ugh! I have heard so many nightmare stories about this company, but I have also heard some good as well. I have a friend who is a consultant and someone tried to scam her twice into ordering product and paying with a fake check. Then I ordered some items and had to wait 5 weeks for delivery. The long delivery process is so unusal. I like the products I received but the process sort of turns me off of the company.

OMG...how terrible!! Will you be asking your consultant what's up??? esp now that you know she waited 3 weeks to place your order?? I would be Livid! I love their products as well but always feel as if they take forever to get in...Good luck!! And let us know what your consultant says if you decide to talk to her.

Wow! I'm so sorry that you're consultant dropped the ball. I too would demand that she ship everything to those that don't live close to you, and I'd see about filing some type of formal complaint if she doesn't resolve your problems. As a Thirty-One consultant, I can tell you that party orders do take longer than individual orders, but she should have never taken that long to place the order especially if she cashed the check!

As a customer, hostess, and consultant, I've had really good luck with Thirty-one parties, customer service, and shipping time.

Hope you are able to work everything out.

So, I finally received a message from my consultant about my order. I called and left a message for her on November 25th. Finally got a return email on Sunday night. She claims she didn't realize I needed the items for Thanksgiving. Really? I told her the night I placed the order. I also told her twice in the emails we exchanged (and I have copies of those conversations). She certainly knew what was happening before I wrote the big check to her. Seems like she lost interest after it was in her hands.

She stammered an apology and asked what she could do to make it up to me. Um, nothing for me, but you have some explaining to do with those who ordered from me. I told her I expected a note to put with all of my orders so my friends, family and co-workers would know what the circumstances were. She said she would do it and would be sending something for my troubles. I told her all I wanted was the stuff when it was received by her and the notes. I wasn't looking to get anything out of it, I just wanted my stuff!

I did file a claim with Thirty-One asking them to check on her "business practices". They said they will check with other party hostesses and see if they are having the same problems. They said they would be back in contact with me soon.

Thank you to everyone who responded to this thread. I thought there was something wrong in this situation and there certainly was. You all were very helpful!

I'm a consultant.
When you talked to corporate did you ask them who they had the order being shipped to? Unfortunately it sounds like your consultant is being a flake and a poor representation of the company! I would ask the order be shipped to you directly so you could make sure you have the product and aren't waiting on her to deliver to you.

I'm sorry she put you in this position.

I am a consultant as well (really only to get the discount, I don't hardly do any shows and when I do they are book parties).

I can almost understand her waiting a few days to make sure the check cleared (as I have had some checks bounce and it is hard to cover those funds, esp that amount!).....BUT I would have told you that from the start (and then you would have had the option of giving her cash or putting it on a CC or waiting the few days). And the amount of time she waited was beyong what it would take for the check to clear.

Also I would tell her that she can now ship all the orders to the people you won't see again until Christmas, esp if you have the proof that she told you it would be here before T-giving. That is about the only way for her to make it 'better' Your friends and family have their stuff before Xmas as promised and you don't have to worry about getting it to them (esp if it's someone you don't see often).
