Hey All!

We'll be visiting the Swan in June of 2003 and I'd appreciate any help you folks can give me in regards to an upgrade.... I'm traveling with my two parents (Ages 60 and 61) and my mother is absolutely terrified of heights. We will most definitely be requesting a ground floor, non-smoking room. The thing is, I'd love to surprise them with an upgrade to Club Level benefits (still keeping our first floor room).

1. Has this ever been done?

2. How should I word such a request when I e-mail the hotel?

3. Do I even stand a chance.

My mom is an SPG member, but we currently have no points on our card (and most likely will not have any until our Swan stay.) We are booked under the $129 Nurses rate.

You can have club level benefits regardless of where in the resort you are staying. I know some people have been told no, but ask again if this happens.

However, I don't believe there are any ground floor sleeping rooms - DF99, correct me if I am wrong! So she will be above ground no matter what. However, I would think if you explained the situation they could accomodate you at the lowest level possible.

I highly suggest you read the Starwood thread that is near the top of this board (at least as of tonite). It gives suggestions on upgrading, etc. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=204282 (Despite its length - a lot of short replies- it should be fairly easy reading.)

Do either of you own stock? That at least moves you to corporate level and:

2 pts per $ spent
Personalized Checkin
Morning newspaper
4 pm checkout (subject to avail)
Upgrade to Preferred Room upon arrival (if available)

Stock in what?

I too am planning on booking a ressie with the nurse discount (yeah Dolphin...they know we make pathetic salaries ;) ), but would love an upgrade if possible.

We are SPG members (and Disney Club...for now).

I was thinking the same thing!

Between the SPG, DC, and even a AP( for discounts and late checkout)
...you have a pretty good chance of getting an upgrade.. except when there's a
HUGE convention going on!

JMHO.....

....enjoy the Swan!
Whatever you get will be great!:D

...for the encouragement. Actually there is a large conference going on (hence my trip), but I'm hoping :D My husband is actually attending the conference. The 'company' is paying the bill, but it is a small company (my husband is co-founder) so we try to cut corners when possible. I am thinking about booking 3 rooms with my nurse rate and saving the company $100 a room...if I can pull it off. The listed rate for the conference attendees is $256/night. That $129/night rate for nurses is looking good, but I want the rooms to be 'nice' too :D

I may call Monday and see what I can sweettalk myself into ;)

will be nice!

You never know with upgrades.

I just would keep an "open mind" and not expect anything....
(of course prayer and "sweettalk" helps!);)

with that in mind.....when you get something great...
you're LIVID!!!

Have a WONDEFUL STAY !!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

The problem with you getting CL privledge is that the club lounge is on a pretty high floor with lovely glass windows overlooking the boardwalk. If you get CL could she stand to be up there? May there are some tables that don't look out??
