We are going to Bethel Maine this July for a car show, and I was wondering if there were any stores in the area of Sunday River Ski Resort.

P.S. I have never been to Sunday River so I have no idea where anything is or how far. I just want to get away from the monsters... I mean children for a bit. :teeth:

There use to be one in Augusta. Not sure if that is on the way to Sunday River. Things change so quickly in Maine, I am not sure if it is still there.

Good luck.

OK. I just did a search. The one in Augusta is still there. There is one in Ellsworth, which I know is no where near Sunday River. There is also one in Bangor and one in a town called Holden. Not sure where the last one is.

Thanks for the question though. Now I know there is one in Ellsworth. That is right near our summer place. Cool someplace new to shop!!!

Buffy - Bethel is in the Western part of the state, which I don't know anything about, but I did find these on a search. They are probably about an hour away from where you are going.
in Auburn - http://www.memorylanepages.com/
in Turner - http://www.murdockcountrycreations.com/
in South Paris - http://beescrappy.info/Home_Page.html
Actually, my search also led me to this very useful list:
http://www.kiss-scrapbookevents.com/new_england_retail_directory.htm so you might want to get out an atlas and see if any others are nearby.

Holden is between Bangor and Ellsworth, but that store has closed. My aunt lives on Mount Desert Island, and the last time we went up there, even without doing any research on stores, just taking the main roads between here and there we came across like 4 stores! I was driving DH nuts making him stop, and I kept saying, "Who knew scrapbooking was so big in Maine?" I know I went to the one in Holden, and I don't especially remember the one in Ellsworth (although I know we went in) , but I do remember the one in Trenton (just before you cross over onto MDI) was fantastic - Crop Till you Drop Shop. If its near your place you should definitely see if it's still in business.

thanks for the help NEE.
I hope to get away for a bit. I love going to the Mini Meets but it's all for DH and I get saddled with the kids for 4 days. There's only so much one girl can take! :rotfl2:

Unfortunately, Murdocks and Beescrappy have closed in the past year. Memory Lane is still in Auburn. Try Scrapbooks and Beyond in Topsham too. Auburn is about 40 minutes from Bethel if you take Rt. 302 and Rt. 11, GPS will get you around or just Google the towns for maps. Topsham is another 20 miles east of Auburn near Brunswick, good place to find lobster on Bailey's Island after satisfying the scrap itch.
