Any Steelers fans?

Anybody have any Steeler/Pittsburgh recipes I can make for the next game?!?!?

Anyone else afraid you'll jinx them by bragging or adding any Steeler icons, or gosh forbid mentioning the S---- B---......yeah, I'm probably the only wierd one. :headache:

But I am wearing a Steeler's sweatshirt today and our UPS driver (in Atlanta) said "maaaan, I can't get away from you Steeler's fans!" I said, "why, have you seen a lot today" and he disgustingly said yes. :lmao: :cool1:

Wow, chipped chopped ham from Isaly's!...haven't had it in 25 years! Mom used to heat up catsup, vinegar, brown sugar and chipped chopped ham and we'd have it on hamburger buns, so awesome, doesn't work with regular ham though, get's too dry and doesn't taste the same.

I'm from Pittsburgh. DH and I are HUGE Steeler fans. Our entire basement is themed in Steelers. We have everything you need to watch the game - Pittsburgh Style - bar, yellow walls, Steelers neon signs, rugs, mugs, Ward and Bettis jerseys on the wall. Everyone knows we collect Steeler items so when they see things at yard sales, they grab them for us. There's one rule to the basement - No non Steelers fans allowed!

BTW, I always hear about "Steeler bars" in different cities around the US. I know Steeler fans have a huge presense and will travel to the away games more than any other NFL team - but it's so weird to hear of these bars. I can't imagine Pittsburgh having another NFL team bar!! It would be an outrage.

So you're the "what's with the lamp" peope, love that commercial!

We have Barnacles near Atlanta and the Oyster Pub when we go to Daytona or Disney.... we'll drive to the Oyster Pub from Orlando if we're at Disney

About 10 years ago, dh wanted a shirt, I called everywhere, found one about 45 miles away, told the person to hold it. Got home, dh was furious and said, "well I found a shirt, but they wouldn't sell it to me because they were holding it for someone". I whipped it out of the bag and said, "you mean this one?" :lmao:

It's not easy being black and gold!

Not a Steelers fan, but Go Steelers from this Colts Fan!!

The Colts are my 2nd favorite team!

I ordered some Hickory Farms baskets 75% off (thank you, Budget Board!) and my order shipped today so our football munchies should be here in plenty of the for the weekend.

Pierogies (I probably butchered the spelling) would be OK to serve as a side dish at a Pittsburgh meal.

Love pirogies but only ever bought them in Pittsburgh (from a church on the North Side or Pirogies Plus) don't want to attempt to make them from scratch...are the frozen ones @grocery any good?? Can anyone recommend a particular brand??

Ok...you take Mrs. T's frozen pierogies (we like potato and cheddar) and boil them a few minutes. Then you put them in a skillet with some butter, onions and red or green peppers (optional) and cook until lightly browned. We usually have these as a quick side dish instead of potatoes.

:thumbsup2

Some people eat them as a main dish with either sour cream or sauerkraut too.

Other Pittsburgh food....ham barbeque, chicken wings, buffalo chicken dip.

Good stuff! :thumbsup2

We made brats in beer with onions yesterday, that's Pittsburgh food right? The sauce it makes when it cooks down is so awesome!

Again, afraid to jinx us with planning a menu but last time we had Gold Schloger which was fun, and this dip is awesome, especially when you can find good crusty Italian bread UP THERE, can't down here :upsidedow

INGREDIENTS
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (14 ounce) can pizza sauce
1/4 pound pepperoni sausage, diced
1 onion, chopped
1 (6 ounce) can black olives, chopped
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Spray a 9-inch pie pan with non-stick cooking spray.
Spread cream cheese on the bottom of the pie pan. Pour pizza sauce over the cream cheese, and spread it so that there is an even layer of sauce. Sprinkle with pepperoni, onion, and olives. Top with mozzarella cheese.
Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 20 to 25 minutes.

That sounds yummy.

what do you mean you can't find good bread? where do you live? LOL!

No bread?

Will defiantly have to do Goldenschläger if they make it to the Superbowl! :thumbsup2
Is there some kind of black liquor that we could have too?!?!? ;)

:lmao: Oh, thanks so much, but dh went up last fall and brought so many jerseys, shirts and hats back it's embarrassing, actually went to a Brown's game with some friends, forget who they lost to ;) , but someone near him asked, "dude, what's up?", so dh lifted his shirt to reveal a Steeler's shirt on underneath and dh said the guy was trashed and his reaction was hillarious....over the top shocked and then he couldn't stop laughing and then he started ssshhhing and promising to keep his new bff's secret :lmao:

For the best "pirohy", you can't buy them in the stores and it definitely isn't Mrs. T's. You have to buy them homemade from the churches in Beaver County. Yummy!!!
