We are taking our last trip for a while in November this year, and I was wondering if there's any "special events" that are REALLY worth the extra money. Like Wishes dessert party, pirate cruise, etc... those kinds of things. Anything that you've done that I might not know exists?? We've gone 5 times in the last 5 years and have done all the "usual" stuff. I want to make this trip sort of a grand finale :)

While we enjoyed Pirates & Pals and the Wishes Dessert Party, our personal top favorite and most def worth it is the Star Wars Dessert Party. You'll probably be pleased with any, as I'm sure you'll receive varied replies. From our own experience, we were a lil underwhelmed with Pirates & Wishes, and completely amazed with the SW's one. It's the one extra we've done so far that we'd keep repeating.

I think that both of the parties MVMCP MNSSHP are worth going to if you haven't done them.

We did MVMCP this past December and had a great time! Not sure we'll pay to do it again - we had a blast but sacrificed too much the next day (my boys were 5 and 9 and were absolutely exhausted, and we had to leave Epcot because of the massive meltdowns). Maybe again in a few years when they're older :)

Not going at Halloween time, but maybe someday!

If you like tsmm, star tours, whatever slot you'd like for Jedi Training, a very decent assortment of breakfast foods, and pictures in an empty park, EMM at Hollywood is an absolute no-brainer if it's still being offered.

My husband and my son did the Wild Africa Trek in AK and loved it. My husband said it was worth every penny and he would jump at the chance to do it again.

You say usual stuff but you listed things I would call the usual stuff. What is your list of usual things you've done and did you enjoy them? it might help to direct some advice...

To answer your question. To give some insight, i've only done these as father/daughter paying for 2 adults, my opinions might vary if I had to spend more money than 2 people to do it.

- I love after hours but the chance of that being offered when you go is slim to none but worth mentioning in case. It's my top #1 favorite ticketed event.
- Club Villian if it's being offered is my #2 favorite ticketed event.
- I enjoyed the star wars desert party but felt the others offered weren't worth the price. I went for a combo of good spot and desert and it worked out for us.
- Illuminations fireworks Cruise I found to be a great way to see that show in a different way if it's getting stale to you.
- Rivers of Light dining package might actually save you money or be the same meal plan credits if you didn't take the package. I liked the show and see if the package is a money saver or no additional cost no brainer if you are going to eat at one of the restaurants anyway. (I did it for the jungle book, that show wasn't worth it but I saved also 20% on the cost of meal so it was worth getting the package at the time for a discount).
- Ticketed fall/winter parties (MNSSHP, MVMCP) but I would caution the price and crowd has gone up to the point that I'm not planning to do it this year. If you've never done it, worth doing it once and I find MNSSHP to be the better value if your on property for it.
- i've not done a tour I didn't like so this might be a good way to add on something different.

Other things that cost money but not really a disney add on that i've enjoyed:
- renting the boats on bay lake and seven seas lagoon and making a family afternoon on the lake.
- winter sleigh ride at ft wilderness.

Things I've enjoyed that are not offered by disney but very close by:
- Helicopter tour, I've done the longer multi-theme park one. Going to be doing the illuminations night one soon :) (not all of disney is a no fly zone and depending on package it's actually reasonable cost).

Free things to do that can change your view of the parks:
- Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom (kids and gamers in the family will enjoy)
- Agent P (more geared to younger but if you have a gamer in the family they might be entertained by it).
