Hey folks, If you have ANY rumors/tidbits/whispers/CM slipups regarding anything Fall free dining or discount related anything feel free to post it here! (Major run-on sentence…my Bad) :scared:

I for one need some kind of encouragement that something may be brewing. Sadly, like most you, I have heard very little. In fact the only thing I have is when I asked a CM over the phone what she thought on a scale of 1-10 the chance of something coming out she said a 10. HOWEVER… She was just speculating and said she had nothing to back that up with. In any case, I could use some encouragement how about you?
:thumbsup2

I was just coming on here to post the exact same question and saw you had already asked :thumbsup2

I have been waiting to book my Disney hotel reservations for October until I see what kinds of discounts come out. It could be the difference between a Moderate and a Deluxe for us. Right now everything I see ends October 1st. When are they going to post new discounts for stays AFTER October 1st??? :confused3

I've talked to two different CM, and both had told me that IF something was coming, that it would be August-ish before we'd see it. I wish they hadn't had said 'if' and they had known! ;(

I'm thinking nothing till August.... and even with that, am anticipating nothing too exciting as far as deals go.
AM hoping for free dining again, or even an awesome AP rate... but am not getting my hopes up too much!

Cross-posted at October Code Watch:

We just canceled our room-only reservation at POP. The cast member was very apologetic, and asked why we were canceling. DH told her that a value just wouldn't work for us anymore, but that moderate was too expensive without a discount. She stammered "oh. uh, um, ummm, ooohh, mmm" for a few seconds like she wanted to say something but couldn't get it out. DH said it was quite weird and awkward. Then she sighed and just blurted out "sorry you won't be staying with us." DH told her it was okay and she uh'd and mm'd again. Then she finally said with a giggle "You *WILL* be back! Have a magical day!"

So sad that I'm reading into a CM's tone of voice... but even DH, who doesn't follow any of this discount watching stuff, thought she sounded awfully hopeful!

I was going to post the same thing. I called today to ask about AP rates for December and was told that since the rates through October just came out, it may be mid August like last year, IF there are any offers. I have a room booked at Pop for the first week of December, but it is not a discounted rate. If the rates are too high we will cancel and if we go at all, stay off property.

I sure hope something comes out for all of you. I helped some friends plan a trip for late October (their first ever WDW vacation) and promised them based on my experience (been every October since 2004 but not this year), they would pay less for their package than what it currently is. I hate to have built up any false hopes they might save money but I fear I have.:sad2:

I am already crossing fingers for June, I just priced an identical package for our June 2012 dates to what we just did last month and its around $2200 more. We had free dining for our two week stay at POR and between the fact I'd have to pay $1959 for our family of four to do the cs plan and the fact the room and tickets have gone up, that is a huge difference and not happening. I see others say Disney doesn't owe me a thing blah, blah blah, but that is a huge price diff and one I am just not sure I can justify. I know we'll go but we may do less of a stay (did two weeks last month), go the value route or even consider switching to Disneyland and staying offsite (I will do offsite at DL but not WDW). I guess time will tell.

I do believe some sort of discounts will come out, but not sure if we'll see some of the nice big ones we have in the past. Who knows in the end.

JUST booked at the Poly for October...spoke with the nicest CM who said that I should 'keep my eyes peeled for something special to apply to our current reservation' within the next few days or weeks. She said it once when I mentioned I was ready to book and reminded me again when I was ready to hang up. :woohoo:

Was your reservation for room only or for a package?

Maybe, maybe there is hope for an announcement around mid-August as happened last year....

:flower3: Disney please announce room-only discounts or send me a pin I can use!

The rates more than likely won't be released until at the earliest the first week of August. Once they were released in July but historically the discounts are released w/in the first two weeks in August.

We'll be at Disney in February 2012...anyone know when any deals/specials might be announced for then? Will that time frame Fall in with an August announcement as well?

OK - how's this for hope - there's been a general public discount every October-December for the last 6 years at least. There has been general public discount all year in 2010 including never-before-seen free dining in January-May as well as general public discounts in the summer time.

When have the discounts come out in the past, you ask:
In 2006,2007, 2008 - they came out mid-August (between the 13th and 16th).
In 2009 - they came out July 26th/27th.
In 2010 - October-December "free dining" came out July 6th, but room only discounts didn't come out until August 16th.

SO, based on ALL of that...why would anyone think there WOULDN'T be discounts offered in October-December? Basing things on past practice, other than last year, we actually SHOULDN'T expect there to be a Oct-Dec discount out yet, right?

I know it's tough to be patient...I'm having trouble myself, but this is exactly how everyone here reacts multiple times per year. I've watched the early April "Oh god there not gonna do free dining again" threads appear every year for FIVE years. Same thing happens now for the fall. Same thing will happen come November for next year.

So, go get a paper bag out of the cupboard, breath deeply...and wait with the rest of us.

:rotfl::thumbsup2 As I sit here biting my nails and checking for FD multiple times per day.

Yep, yep, and yep! :thumbsup2 I'm hoping I'll have a very nice birthday surprise (8/13). I've never been involved with discount waiting before; I'm getting caught up in the madness! :rotfl:

We've only been to WDW once 5 years ago. As first timers, the sky was the limit! I think we got $200 off w/ AAA. It was just considered bonus money... This time around we'll have to stay off-property  if no discounts come out.

My question is... for those who NEED a discount, book now to "lock-in" possibly killing the chance of a discount even being offered, or book after a discount comes out taking a chance that your resort might not be available. I'm totally on the fence with this one... however we are not booked at the moment.

I do agree. And this does happen every year! What is worrying me is this persistant rumor they want to experiment with phasing out discounts.

And when the discounts arrive, they might be the same name "free dining" but different. The last free dining promo was for qsdp for the mods, the ones before that were for the regular ddp. So the discounts have been there but they aren't as good as they used to be. To get free dining, you have to purchase more in the way of tickets, get some photo album, pay rack rate (which is now outrageous). To get a room code you then have ti possibly pay holiday pricing for meals thoughout much of the year. And now certain resorts get less of a room code. I got 25% off all mods last December except POFQ which was only 20%. To get the really meaty room discounts, you need to stay deluxe and the top end of deluxe at that.

We ate our first full serve meal at WDW in two years last month. It was a character meal that for my family of four cost $200. We went because we were travelling with family who had young kids who really wanted to do a character meal and rest assured that won't happen again. Because if I get free dining it will be QS (we do mod and value only) and I won't ever again pay OOP for a WDW buffet.

So I guess my long winded point is that even with discounts a lot of us are still priced out or getting close and without discounts its even worse. Right now I am not completely priced out of a WDW vacation. But I am priced out of: deluxe resorts (regardless of discount) the DDP (can't pay $50 plus gratuity for all four members of my family), and the ticket add ons (hoppers and plus options) are probably going to be nuked to make up for the higher rack rates. If I don't get a discount I am priced out of the mods now as well.

I'm right there with you. We are going in October also and haven't booked a hotel yet because we've been waiting for discount codes. If no codes, we are going to stay off-site. We're a POFQ family too :thumbsup2

I just want to buy my airline tickets! I'm afraid there are going to be blackout dates and I'll have to change my dates. There's lots of cheap air from DFW right now, I'm just afraid they won't be there in 3 or 4 weeks! Then the Free Dining or room discount would just be a wash because my airfare will be doubled! Ick!
