Any riders 6"3" or taller turned away from FJ?

So basically no barbarians or amazon women can ride this? Can Arnold Schwarzenegger ride this? lol

I am at 5'9" 260# and have able to ride Hulk and dueling draggons, a little tight but rode them just the same. I would not be totatl bumed If I could not ride FJ but It would be fun to go on with my son. So any guys out there, short and stocky give a yell and let us know how It goes:cool1:

He said that he wasn't pulled aside or questioned at all, he just got on the ride. He did ride the day before Preds got to ride (Saturday) so maybe they changed their policy between Saturday and today about who gets to ride...that's all I can figure.:confused3

They did change their policy after Saturday. Apparently they found that if the shoulder harness didn't properly lock down all the way, that the whole ride would full stop. So they began pulling people aside on Sunday to have them sit in the test seats. (By the way, this is by no means the only reason the ride is failing, just one they found that they could more easily correct)

I suspect this will lighten up a bit as they continue to tweak the ride. But since it sometimes takes hours to reset the ride when it full stops, they're just tryin reduce the possibility of problems so that the ride will run longer than 30 min at a time.

What about women with big breasts?

This is actually something I am really worried about reading the size requirements. If I was a DDD, I would have absolutely no worry, even though a lot of people think that is large. I have a significantly larger cup size than that. So much tissue, that when properly supported it would affect a shoulder measurement. And I'm short, so the harness would sit lower on me than someone else, and I'm thinking it would definitely have to fit over my problem area. Kind of goofy, but I wish someone would take a tape measure to the test seat and post the depth between the back of the seat and the restraint.

That's my issue as well. This is my 1st US visit so I can't even compare to other rides there. None of the WDW ones are too tight for me.

They could hire someone like B&M to redo the seats. Their coasters have some seats (3rd/6th row?) to fit certain dimentions.

I believe they've said that larger seats are in the works but will be end of this year before they're ready. I'm sure they'll try to retrofit the hardware on the seats in the upcoming months as well to try to increase the ridability for their guests, but these kinds of retrofits take months of planning, testing and executing.

We just have to remember that this has been done for our safety, even if it is disappointing. Although the ride may not seem that jerky, these arms do have the potential to turn us upside down and smack us down head first. It's highly unlikely it would ever happen, but they just want to ensure we'd not fall out if they did. hehe

So Hagrid could not ride? He has a hut there but cannot ride FJ? What a bummer.

I had emailed universal on this question 2 days ago.I received an email asking
me to call them.I called and let them know my concern since I had heard about wieght issues.I was told it is not a weight issue at all,as long as you can be locked in properly you are all right.I asked also if there was any AP things yet and was told no.{wishful thinking}I am 6"3 230lbs and I will admit I will be disappointed if I am out of luck!I dont know about every one else but i allways take whatever they tell me with a grain of salt.

I don't think Hagrid can fit in most rides. That's ok though, he can do magic and create his own seat. So technically he can ride whatever he wants. :wizard:

They are telling you the truth. It is a proportion issue. If your dimensions fit in the harness you are fine. You probably carry your 230 pounds a lot differently than someone six inches shorter than you. Seems to be that very thick chested (and heavier bellied) people are having the issue.

All I want to know is if someone taller than 6'3" tall (like someone who is 6'4" or 6'5") of average proportions and weight can fit in the harness. Just a regular guy who happens to be tall.....will he fit?

Has anyone seen someone of this height ride FJ yet?

They are pulling large riders and tall riders out of line after waiting in line...If 6'3 or taller...NO DICE..thier legs will hit the Spiders and Dementors...Word is Universal is freaking out over the restrictions and trying to adjust things, but it may just be too cost prohibative to change it......

As for the heavier riders ...the first day of the ride opening there were several riders who were pushed into the harness by the ride opps...several patrons complained about brusing from the tight harness and the next day no ride opp was allowed to push the harness down on a patron.....it must close by itself..several patron who rode the attraction the day before were all of a sudden denied access.....I hope Univ gets thier act together or this ride will be an opperational nightmare....

But my 6'5" hubby has most of his height in his body. I mean, he only wears a 32 length pant. He wears the same pant length as my 5'9" dad, as funny as that sounds. Yes, he's a freak. I remind him of that often. :rotfl:

Anyway, my point is that even though someone may be tall doesn't always mean that person has long legs.

I think this is just crappy.

Maybe it is crappy, but it's about safety, first and foremost. If that harness doesn't lock properly, and some bizarre catastrophe happens and the kuka arms turns you upside down and drops you head first into the whomping willow, then you'll fall out and get killed. :upsidedow

You can't totally blame Univ. for this. The ride vehicle was designed, by some other company, for average sized guests. They didn't know when the vehicles were ordered, manufactured, programed, etc. that if the harness didn't lock down properly it would cause the whole ride to stop and not restart. If they had, they would have designed it differently.

I'm sure over the next few weeks they will not only tweak the programming to allow a bit more leeway, but they will also examine retrofitting the harnesses to accomodate a slightly larger guest. They didn't know it was going to be this bad. I'm sure they'll also put a rush on getting those bigger seats they've allegedly ordered to Orlando.

This seems odd to me. I'm not saying it's not true, just that it is standard operating procedure to build all ride elements far enough from the ride vehicles that they can't be touched, even by the tallest person. It's a safety regulation. I don't think the ride would have gotten it's permits if anything was that close to the ride vehicles.

Oh, I wasn't saying it's crappy because of the harness not locking properly and creating a safety issue. I was saying it was crappy that they aren't letting anyone taller than about 6'3" ride due to assuming their legs being too long....or at least that's how it sounded to me in the report. Perhaps it's not true. I guess we'll find out more as time goes on. Like you said, not having the ride elements far enough away from the ride to ensure that they can't be touched by dangling feet seems odd to me too.

.thier legs will hit the Spiders and Dementors...

Let me rephrase....Their legs COULD hit the spiders or Dementors...In this new world of lawsuits If one brushes their foot on a flowing cloth of a dementor a lawsuit may not be far behind...Lawyers always have their say and 6'3 is that say....regardless of torso vs leg length

BTW Universal had to know the ride restrictions when they ordered the ride system from KULKA..if not then they didnt do thier research cuz this ride system has been around for years
