Last time we used the regular mister fans from Walmart. Since then I have noticed people recommending a "misty mate". Has anyone used this type of mister, or can you recommend a good one?:)

My husband and I have this one and LOVE them!!!

They are really small, no batteries and spray a REALLY fine mist instead of soaking you! They were wonderful during our August trip a few years ago!

Those are cool, where did you buy those? This will be our first summer (August ) trip and I don't want to lug the big mister that I already have. Those look like a good size.

I have one of those! I highly recommend it. I got mine for around $8.00 at Walmart.

I ordered mine from Misty Mate but that's been almost 3 years ago. I have heard more recently that Walmart is selling them but if you can't find them in the store - Misty Mate was wonderful to deal with!

Thanks for the back up! We have never gone in the summer..always March or usually December..so we never needed one. I forgot that we will probably need these for August.

I just found two different Misty Mate packages at my local BJ's (warehouse club). The one pictured above is the Misty Mate 2.5oz. It's actually kinda small...could fit into a belt bag, they're about 8 inches long and hold 2.5oz of water. A three pack (in blue, yellow and green) were $15.99. I went back a couple days later and they had a DIFFERENT pack. Two blue 2.5oz ones and one 10oz bigger one (Misty Mate Sport). That one looks like a little thermos, about the same length as the handheld ones, but bigger around and it had a hose that came out the side and a belt clip. The pump was on the top. That pack was $16.99. I bought both and figured I'd return the one I don't want. I can't decide which one to return! My husband said, "Eh, keep em both." Lots of help he is!

I have both a Misty Mate Sport and the small personal sized ones.

I have only used the Sport once-- it's quite heavy and really holds more than I need. I took it to a family picnic in the park that was held in July. HOT! But everyone loved using it and we all kept the kiddies cool too. It had a great mist! But you're really not going to walk around with it clipped to your belt. Maybe if you had kids in sports, you'd want this. The plastic is thick and heavy because the water is put under much more pressure than the small version. It's meant to mist the air around you to bring the temp down rather than mist you and cool you with water.

For Disney, I only take the small ones. They're great, fits in a bag, and my daughter can operate it herself. The Sport version with the pump was too difficult for her to handle.

One word of caution-- if you mist yourself a lot, be sure to reapply sunscreen-- even if it's waterproof! The constant misting will wash it away.

I was just looking for information about these. Thanks PP for commenting on the other size being too large/heavy. I couldn't really tell from the pictures on the website.

Spraying yourself with water without a fan to cool it off does nothing but make you more wet. You're already hot and sweaty - now you're just adding water to the sweat - ewwww.

We use these little mister fans which are about 3.5" long x 1" wide x 3" high. We clip them onto our messenger bag or backpack strap so that they are always handy: http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___47183 Because they are so small, you don't have to worry about spraying or fanning other people.

We use the personal Misty Mates shown above. We also have the Disney misting fans. We really pefer the Misty Mates. They are small, lightweight and very effective. It is a very refreshing/cooling mist that the Misty Mate gives off. I also love the fact that they do not require batteries. I bought ours at CVS and Walgreens.

I actually bought 4 of these a few years ago, and we never used them. They have them at Walmart for about $4 now. I think they are in one of my suitcases, so we can try both types and see which is better for us.

I did find ONE:guilty: of the previously pictured ones (are those the Misty Mates?) at WalMart today, the guy couldn't even ring it up until he put it through some inventory checker. He said it was probably the only one..but I am going to keep checking to see if they get any in. Maybe buy one online.. thanks for all the suggestions..

We love our MistyMates! The small personal size seems to work the best. The water bottle holders that WDW sells fit these and it's great to have the MistyMate hanging around your neck.

Have you ever tried a MistyMate???

Also put a couple of ice cubes in with the water and it is really cool and refreshing.:goodvibes They do work great, not just to soak you wet.

I just found the personal Misty Mates shown above at Walmart today (Dallas area). They were on an end cap on clearance for $ 5.00 ea :cool1:

Yes, we have two of them. We just think that having a small fan blowing on you after you've misted yourself cools you even more than not having one. DH is not easily cooled off, but the little fans we have did the trick on our May trip when the temps reached into the 90's and the humidity was high. Just our personal preference.

I just purchased 2 Misty Mates from Ebay - Buy It Now - $7.99 each plus $2.50 shipping ($1.51 shipping on each additional unit).

We've used these in the past and they are absolutely *wonderful*. I have a hard time finding them locally and felt that was a decent price for the benefits we get from using it!

Just thought I'd pass it along in case you cannot find them near you.

I did notice that when we had a mister with a fan we used the fan way more than the mister. Did a search for those small ones, they are as low as $3.99 some places, (not sure about shipping $) has anyone seen them in an actual store?

Don't forget if you are misting like crazy you are also washing off your sunscreen!! I saw a few people come into the doctors office with horrible sunburn because they didn't think of that.
