birthday girls and boys in the parks? I know about going to City Hall in MK to get a birthday button, but are there any perks to having one? I'll be in WDW for my birthday this year, which is kind of a dream come true for me.

All the parks have a birthday button. Just stop at guest relations.

You may get a Birthday phone call from Goofy, a magical moment on a ride, CM's wishing you a happy birthday.

No real perks but it is great fun wearing the pin.

You'll get lots of happy birthday's from the cast members (and guests as well). Most sit down restaurants give the birthday person a cupcake.

When it was my birthday, I got a really extra large Dole Whip (the cast member angled extra Dole Whip off the side so it looked like a jester's hat). I also talked a group of cast members into singing Happy Birthday to me before the parade one evening. I also got to cut part of the line on Space Mountain.

I wouldn't go there expecting anything. That way you won't be let down if nothing happens.

Hi all,

We were in MK for my wife's b'day on July 3
and had stopped at City Hall to get the
b'day pin. As we were walking down Main
Street the barber shop quartet sang her
happy birthday. It was really cute.

My son has been called over by an ice cream vendor and asked what kind he would like. He got front seat at Great Movie Ride and asked if he prefered western or gangster movies (if you've been, you'll understand). And as others have stated - it's just nice to get birthday wishes from CMs as well as other tourists in the parks. I always try to notice others wearing the buttons and go out of my way to make them feel special (my kids say the elementary school teacher comes out of me)!

We were in MK for my dd's third birthday. She had the birthday pin on and she did get extra attention from the cm's and the characters. If one more person said, "happy birthday princess" in a sing-song voice, I was going to gag!!! Dierdre was wearing her Minnie dress and a CM said, "Happy birthday, Minnie!" and she turned to the CM and said, "I'm not a mouse. I'm a princess!" FABULOUS.

Cinderella mouthed "Happy Birthday" from her float in the parade, and Snow White took Dierdre by the hand and led her into the parade. It was really cool!

I think the thing to remember - especially if the birhtday girl/boy is a child...

Don't expect anything!

There are lots of ways the CM's can make the day special, but if you're expecting lots of stuff, or tell a child they'll get free ice cream - or whatever, they might be dissappointed.

Here are some of the things that happened on our dd's birthdays in '02.

dd7 - at character breakfast got birthday wishes, but no candle in a cupcake like dd5 did 8 days later.

dd7 - got a "call" from goofy while we were at the HISTK playground....since we knew about this, we stopped by City Hall on dd5's birthday to get her call.

dd7 - got quite a few "happy birthday"s - but I really don't remember anything special.

dd5 - got to sit up front at Country Bears - the whole audience sang Happy Birthday to her.

dd5 - got the attention of the talking trash can in Tomorrowland - he talked with her and then had the crowd sing "happy birthday"

dd5 - also got a lot of happy birthday wishes from CM's

dd5 - got a special certificate from Mickey and friends - delivered by the CM who monitors the Living Statues (Epcot - France). He saw us and told me to come back at the next statue time and he would have something special for her.

So - you can see that dd7 didn't really get that much, but was a real trouper when her younger sister was getting all of the special treatment on her birthday. The hardest thing was the lack of a cupcake/candle at Cinderella's. I don't know why one got it and the other didn't.

As you can see from my signature, we'll be there again for their birthdays. We'll not be expecting anything, we'll just have them wear the button and let the restaurants we visit know we're celebrating a birthday. Dd- turning 9 will celebrate at the Hoop-de-do, dd-turning 7 will celebrate at Cinderella's.
